Third time was not the charm

Janis w on Aug 05, 2020

The first time we stayed in November of 2016 this place had a different manager and the rooms were brightly colored and we had open shutters that looked out to our patio. We loved it. We went back in March of 2017 and they had a new manager, this is when we started seeing things go down hill. It was so crowded in March with regulars who go every March. We decided never to go in March again. The last time we went was the LAST! The staff is miserable. There are a few that you can tell are taken care of by the regulars , but most walk around with a frown on their face and the bar tender we had was horrible. never made eye contact with us never smiled. They have run out of alcohol every time we have stayed there. The food is sub par and not worth paying for.Plan on buying your own beer too because they run out often. Plus all they offer is the regular redstripe. They dont even have the light Red Stripe beer. This place is owned by Sandals and they treat their employees awfully. We had ONE employee that we loved there and he always was smiling. He left and went to Sandals to work. DO NOT STAY HERE. The rooms are run down and old. Our toilet over flowed three times we had to have it fixed. They painted the outside of these places to all light blue and took out the shutters. That took away the Caribbean vibe and they did nothing to improve the inside of the rooms. Stay anyplace but here. Horrible, Stay at any other place but here. Food and Drinks they include are limited and awful.

"SUPER" good time.

Michael W (Indianapolis, Indiana) on Mar 29, 2020

This was our fourth time to GPB. We traveled in the beginning of February and returned for the Super Bowl. Enjoyed last years bowl by accident, and returned for this years by design. A lot of the same returning guests each year on this weekend. Fun to see them again. They put out a snack buffet during the game and also were serving dinner at that time. Watching the super bowl on the beach in Negril in February equals a lot of fun. This place is fun, some what quiet, and very relaxing. If you like to relax and just chill, this could be your place. It has become my favorite place. It's not fancy, you won't get knocked off your feet with amenities. But it checks all the boxes for my wife and I. I have noticed the last couple of years that feedback has lead to improvements. The buildings on the beachside have been painted. I thought they looked very nice. The bathroom in our room looked as if it had been painted and freshened up some. We have stayed in this particular room before. Windows in the rooms have replaced the old glass shutter type windows. I have noticed subtle changes in the food service for the better. The deserts continue to please. We always enjoy going out for dinner a night or two to nearby businesses. The only suggestion my wife would have, to offer yogurt at breakfast each morning. More of a dietary request. A couple of mornings when it wasn't on the buffet, she asked and was able to get it from the kitchen. The only suggestion that I have would be to keep the band playing longer on the nights that they are there. At times it is nice just to sit and chill, after dinner, and listen and have fun with the band. Yes there are several places nearby to enjoy entertainment, but it is really nice to hang at the Pineapple and enjoy the evening. I have always enjoyed the employees of GPB. All have been friendly and willing to help in any way. Marvette, Jeffroy always greet us upon our return. Everitt keeps the grounds looking top notch all the time. Already booked for next year for the Super bowl.

Fourth time and...

crisp007 (midlands) on Mar 23, 2020

The pineapple has always been a bit rough and ready, but we’ve always put of with this, because of the group of friends we meet there, but enough is enough. From the moment you check in, the welcome is not very warm and things go down hill from there. The staff are friendly but you can tell they are not happy in their work. If you want want a drink past 10pm you will need to go to the supermarket and buy your own because they frequently run out. The food is not the best either; if there is something half decent to eat in the trays it soon disappears and there’s a long wait to refill, so be prepared to go out and eat somewhere else, there are some nice restaurants near by. The returners dinner was a joke! We were served RAW steak, most of the people I spoke to either sent it back or couldn’t eat it (and good luck if you’re a vegetarian as your meal may never arrive). Overall we won’t be returning for the 5th time unless some drastic changes take place...shame

Third year in a row to GP, always book Beachside Cottage with king size bed request. First year was good, last year 2 double beds but were promised if we returned king size bed for sure. This year didn't even have a cottage for us that we paid for, we were put in the Manor. Third day we were put in a cottage and had to move luggage ourselves. We asked for some money refunded because we were out for 3 days. They gave us a $20 voucher for gift shop. Wow!! This was going to be our annual March vacation but time to rethink. Staff and beach are awesome. Management needs a lot of work

Yearly Super Bowl trip.

Murl B (Portsmouth, Virginia) on Mar 11, 2020

This was our third time staying at the Grand Pineapple. We love this place. We love the resort because it is small and we get to see a lot of the same faces every year. The staff is great ! The one thing I really like about this place is that its very quaint. This isn’t a 5 star resort so if that’s what you want, don’t come here. That is the one reason I come here. I’m not real fond of the snobby people that usually go to those resorts. This place is laid back and quiet for the most part. Alfreds next door can keep you up if you are close to the beach. The guys and girls on the beach selling stuff can get a little overwhelming sometimes, but usually understand a polite no thank you. There are only a few things I would like to see different. I would love to see an updated salad bar and more variety on the food choices. The breakfast egg station needs to keep more omelet ingredients all the way until 10. Some of us like to sleep in on vacation. Oh yeah, please cook the bacon CRISPY !!!! Other than that everything is irie. Great beach, with lots to do if you want. We booked our return trip next February. I can’t wait to get back to Jamaica.
