Once you step on this property you feel the incredible ambiance. As you stroll through the lush gardens you'll notice the excellent choice of restaurants, the large pool and the hub of ongoing activities until you reach the beach and then you say - does it get any better than this?
I recently returned from a 4 nights at Iberostar. My first night I was alone, until my family joined me for the rest of our stay. I personally love small boutique hotels, but I was joined by my big family later on, so I felt compelled to write a review as I had a good experience.
It was my first time visiting this hotel, and certainly it won't be the last one. If you are a beach lover like me, I highly recommended room # 5111 (it is located on the right hand side/last part of the hotel and it is very very close to the beach....Given that the hotel is big, this part felt so isolated, and I loved it. I got up at 6am everyday to see the sunrise (always a security guard around dressed in an impecable white uniform - they were all very professional! The beach was beautiful and it is kept quite clean (I saw many men in uniform cleaning the beach every day).
Besides the beach, the hotel is well-maintained and is kept very clean. Floors were spotless. Loved all the green areas around flowers/plants, etc. I had the opportunity of visiting the Japanese restaurant - the chef was soooo fun and the food was decent - El Mercado restaurant, where I mainly had breakfast, lunch and dinner was spotless - it was really clean, properly staff with a fair amount of personnel.ñ, and the selection of food was quite fair.
I am not such a pool person, but the pool is big and beautiful - more beautiful at night with some blue lights at night.
If you are one of those panicking with all-related Covid-19 drama, I saw all personnel wearing masks and hand sanitizers were provided/ required before entering their restaurants. * covid test was performed on-site for $35 dollars and results were ready within 1 hour.
I am not such an alcohol person, but a friendly barteder named Miguel made me delicious Mojitos.
Overall, the nights ended with a nice show - there was a thin/skinny singer who was so fun.
Just like all Dominicans, staffs were friendly and helpful. In fact, the hotel is properly staffed- I saw plenty of employees in all areas.
To end, as I said, I really like small hotels and of course, there are so many hotels in Puerto Plata to choose from, but my corner room #5111 was so perfectly located by the beach that I will definitely come back with my daughter- hopefully that room will be available!
Horrible, stressful experience

Worst experience at a resort from check in to check out! Lobby was packed when we arrived ,Two hours wait for check in, not provided a map or guide of the hotel and when we asked which direction our room was, staff member told us to ask the luggage guy. Hotel is very short staffed and the few working are very rude except for waiters and housekeeping. Room was not clean, our bed had blood stains, sink was clogged and mini fridge not working. Be ready for back and forth trips to the lobby to reactivate key card. Poor entertainment. Bring extra masks as hotel will not provide any and force you to buy from their gift shop. Yet they will not even serve you at the POOL bar if you are not wearing a mask but employees wear them below their nose!
Food was ok.
Very stressful experience when our main reason to travel was to relax and enjoy as a family.
