Never again

I'm here to share my disappointment with this hotel. It’s our first day and there’s nothing positive I can say. When I looked to book this hotel, on the website, it said it had 10 restaurants in this location! Arriving today, I tried to make a reservation for the whole family for dinner and there was no restaurant available for any night of our stay until Sunday(my last night).We are gonna spend our thanksgiving dinner eating in the buffet instead of a restaurant said on the website. I went to the attendant, Alice ,responsible for the hotel, who told me “if you're not happy, ask for a refund from the agent who sold your tour package”. This so absurd !!!!

Grand BAHIA PRINCIPE COBA WORST HOTEL EVER

Worst hotel I ever stood In.. the rooms look like motel in person, sheets are all stained, the air conditioning doesn’t work. The sofa bed is a cement with mattress over it. The food is nasty same cold food. Restaurants always booked in which u can’t reserve. They stoled $400 US dollars from my room (room service) . I did a report n I’m in NYC still waiting to hear from them. I told everyone in the front lobby and a girl was actually filing a report because they had stoled her glasses from her room. What a coincidence. U ask for a cart and they never get there u end up walking everywhere. Honestly I will never stay here again!!!

Trouble in paradise

We are here (yes, writing this while on vacation) at the Coba and it has been terrible. The hotel seems to be extremely understaffed. Do not come 2 hours from the Cancun airport to a hotel that is not on the beach. The beach can bel accessed by a trolly that is always full and impossible to get on with 3 little kids (adults pushing ahead toget on. When we arrived we were told we could only use the coba facilities. We booked through WestJet and it say right on their site that you can also access all of Tulum’s amenities. We got put into a room on the second floor, and there are no elevators. We have 3 kids under 3, so being on the second floor was a nightmare. The Said they could not move us, which is ridiculous since the people working at the front said the hotel is only 60% occupancy. The beds have a weird plastic lining that make them very hot to sleep. If you like sleeping on something that feels like a garbage bag, this is the place for you! If you want to get a drink at the pool , you only have 1 bar you can go to, which always has a line. The Lyft moth label servers coming around at the pool or beach. We had a large group of 24 and pre booked 2 dinners for birthdays. Both times them serving staff had no idea we had a reso although both were made at them front concierge desk. They were for birthdays, and I’ve always had resorts do something a little special, but they would not here, even upon request. Don’t bother tipping. We were tipping the whole trip and it honestly did not make a difference is service. It was equally bad at the bar, buffet and restaurants. This is the first time in Mexico where I found almost all the staff to be extremely passive. If you want to go to any alacarte, you need to literally book the day you get in. If not, I hope you like the buffet. Do not come here if you have dietary restrictions or preferences. They often label things wrong or have only one serving spoon for 2 dishes. The silver lining: Water park was fun for the kids (2+3) Night shows were good ‘Food Truck’ restaurant was good (self serve through iPad)

Bad inside logistic transportation

Drivers doesnt wanna take u, they are very rude the cars are usually empty they drive very fast also its ridiculous u cant use the snack bar in the beach if u are at coba Coba doesnt have beach!!!!!!!!!

Best Vacation Ever!

Just returned from spending 8 glorious days with my husband, bestfriend and her husband here. Anyone complaining about this hotel has been beyond spoiled at other resorts. This place is fabulous! Were there a few hiccups? Of course. There was ants in our room a couple days. Who cares? You're literally in the middle of the jungle so it's expected. I brought OFF and gave them a blast of that. The food was AMZAZING! Buffet was delicious with lots of choices for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. We also really enjoyed the little buffet for lunch by the activity pool. We went to 3 a la cates French (Le Gourmet), Japanese (Mikado) and Japanese/Peruvian Fusion (Mushua) and all 3 were incredible. Servers were always very knowledgeable, friendly and quick with requests. The entertainment staff go above and beyond to make sure you're having a great time all day and night. Special shout out to Fatima and Raphael. We loved the wildlife around the grounds. The Coati's, Cababara's, Iguana's and Racoon's are so cute! The beach was beautiful and never had a problem finding beach chairs. It's a quick 3 minute cart ride from the lobby followed by a 90 second walk through the lobby and pool area of the sister resort. No food option at the beach but there is a bar. Oh well...bring snacks if needed. The rooms were spacious and clean and stocked daily with beer, pop and water. Comes with hangers, an ironing board and machine in the big closet. Safe worked great and was not charged as others have said they were. The air conditioning was a little hit and miss and it did get hot at night, not enough to disturb our sleep though. Onsite COVID testing was a bit unorganized along with the results. 4 of us travelled together, 3 got our results the next day but my husband didn't get his. No problem, we went to the front desk, they called the Lab and it was emailed to me within 30 seconds. We did our nik nak shopping at the Hacienda that had reasonable prices and fair negotiations. We booked a night at Coco Bongo's through the hotel and had a blast. We went to Cozumel Island for a day by taking the Collectivo from the Highway by the Hacienda for $3 USD / $50 peso all the way to Playa del Carmen (45 minutes away), walked to the ferry (6-7 blocks) then rented a dune buggy on the other side for the day and toured the island, snorkeling at various spots. Highly recommend this. On our last day we cabbed to Akumal Beach hoping to see turtles but did not end up seeing any as you have to book with a tour guide in order to go out far enough to see them = cash grab. All in all this resort is one of the best I've been to and absolutely was THE BEST for food. Highly recommend and look forward to coming back with the whole family sooner rather than later.
