We had to changes plans quickly and needed a new place to stay for our vacation. We chose RWI and are glad we did. The grounds and pools are fabulous and immaculate. The room was clean and spacious. Everyone on staff was so nice and helpful once you adjust to the island pace. Get used to a different service model if you are from the USA. The beach is exactly how it looks in pictures. Don’t hesitate to stay at RWI.

We booked an ocean view room and were placed on the middle floor of building 2. This was a great location, facing away from the bar and restaurant so was quiet, and lovely beach views.
The hotel is really rather dated, it's not our preferred style at all. Having said that everything seemed to be well kept and clean, which is the main thing. The housekeeping service was the best I've had anywhere, they didn't miss a day or any detail when they came to do our room, one day we only left them with 1 hour to complete the housekeeping and didn't expect it to be done, but it was!
The room itself was comfortable, slept well in the comfy bed, the bathroom had both a bath and a shower which was handy. The small kitchenette was well used by us, the microwave and coffee maker were useful, and we also used the washer and dryer in the room. The aircon and fan were nice and powerful.
The wifi at the resort was great, strong signal and fast everywhere - even on the beach we had signal although I noticed if we sat at the far side it could get a little patchy.
The beach was amazing, picture perfect turquoise water and powder white sand. There was a gently shelving slope to get into the water, and a roped off safe swimming section where boats etc aren't allowed. There were regularly people selling watersports but they didn't intrude at all, just walked up and down the beach. A guy regularly came selling rum coconuts - expensive but tasty! We were lucky enough one day to see a ray in the shallows by the beach, we followed it along the shore as it swam across.
We made use of the free kayaks and paddleboards, which were both good fun. You just had to ask for them at the beach hut, and you could sign them out for up to 45 minutes for free.
The daily happy hour for drinks was most welcome and we made good use of that - the cocktails were great. However were not so impressed with the food - the dinner menu was very limited, although the food served was OK. However we tried going for breakfast one day and had a 45 minute wait for our food! This was when there was only 1 other couple there, so we didn't go back for any other breakfasts.
There is a main pool and a quiet pool, although in reality both were very quiet, as was the beach. We had gone in the off season, so it was not unusual for us to be the only people at the pool, and for only a couple of others on the beach. It was great knowing you didn't have to get up early to get a nice beachfront sun lounger!
The resort bikes were in rather a state. My husband is a keen cyclist so took one out but he soon came back, the tyre was mostly flat and they didn't even have brakes!!
Overall we had a lovely stay here, it met our requirement of being quiet and Covid safe, and was well-located such that we could walk out to some restaurants. The one thing that did really annoy me though was the arrangements for requesting late checkout. When we first asked we were told we had to wait until the day before we checked out to request it, which we did. We were then told we had to wait until the actual day of check out. This meant we were unable to plan anything at all for our last day, as we didn't know if we had to be up and out, or if we could stay most of the day.
I guess it's a small point, but it felt very frustrating not knowing whether our holiday had ended, or whether we could enjoy one last day. Luckily in the end we were granted late check out.
Just to comment on Covid safety, the resort staff were generally really good at enforcing the mask wearing policy. More than once we witnessed someone arrive at the bar without a mask, and being told they weren't allowed in without one, even though it would only be a couple of steps to sit down at an outdoor table. Also hear a bartender tell a guest to go wash his hands, after he sneezed whilst sitting at the bar. It was good to know Covid was being taken seriously, I'd say that 80% of guests would correctly wear masks whilst walking around the property, a few didn't. Yes it's horrible wearing a mask when walking from your room to the beach or pool when it's so hot, but it's a small price to pay to keep yourself and everyone else as safe as possible
