Modern Rooms, Great Staff

Megabruno1994 (Fredericton, Canada) on Sep 02, 2021

Out of all the airport hotels I have experienced, the Westin YVR is among my favourites. The hotel was located 10 minutes from the YVR, and although shuttle was suspended, they were providing taxi vouchers. Daniella helped me with check-in and our chat was very pleasant and informative. She was also very accommodating when I had to store my luggage for a few days as my aircraft was overweight. I was offered a corner room and the amount of natural light the massive floor-to-ceiling windows let in was awesome. The Westin heavenly bed did not disappoint either, and the overall modern and sleek design was attractive to me. My only complaint - the room felt quite damp and the A/C did not do a great job getting rid of the humidity. As a result the bedsheet and duvet felt a little sticky which was not ideal. I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that the hotel was offering hot food in the restaurant in lieu of afternoon hors d'oeuvre in the lounge when it's closed for COVID - most hotels don't bother. I got to enjoy their soup of the day as well as a nice made-to-order salad - much better than your typical lounge offerings I'd say. Breakfast was also offered in the restaurant and was also made to order, quality of food was also great. All things considered I am very happy with what this hotel delivered during my short stay. This will be my go-to for my next trip into/out of/connecting through YVR.

good hotel to stay

Josephliyen (Calgary, Canada) on Aug 14, 2021

the staff is friendly, the rooms are much newer than wall centre sheraton. however the breakfast selection is a bit less than sheraton. overall the stay was quite enjoyable. the location isn't the greatest as it isn't walkable to anywhere. You would have to have a vehicle to go into core richmond. but it was a pleasant stay.

Pool closed without notification

Michaelzzz79 on Aug 07, 2021

Nice hotel overall, however, this was to be our last stop on our BC trip and we were planning to spend time in the pool as a family. Kids were very disappointed to learn that the pool was closed. Guests should be notified of major changes at the hotel in advance so they can have the option to make alternative arrangements.

Humid, noisy rooms.

robmau (Toronto, Canada) on Aug 07, 2021

Very noisy place, terrible soundproofing in this hotel. If you want to get a good relaxing sleep do not stay here! They installed thick heavy soundproof doors on springs and all you hear is SLAM, SLAM, SLAM all day and night. Stupid. Its so loud it literally shakes the bed. Room was very humid, tried everything to get the room less humid but to no avail. Carpet and bedding felt damp it was so humid. Clearly exploiting the covid situation to save a buck, pools closed and no housekeeping, even though thats not a mandated government order at this time.

Very comfortable stay

haileythegolden (Edmonton, Canada) on Jul 29, 2021

The hotel will reimburse the taxi fare from the airport and they also offer a voucher fir the return trip back to the airport. We found this to be a great service. We had a great comfortable king bed on the 11 th floor with a great view of the marina. Huge bathroom with a huge soaker tub plus a large separate shower. Very comfortable room and stay. Only negative is the in house restaurant and restaurants are not within walking distance
