Oxygen needs
WestJet only accepts Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC’s) for use on all flights where oxygen is required.
Please complete a Air Travel Requirements Assessment Form for medical clearance and submit to MedDesk@WestJet.com or via fax to 1-866-737-1202.
We recommend submitting medical documentation 10 business days prior to departure to ensure sufficient time to review. Without advance notice, we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your request.
Portable oxygen concentrators (POC)
Approved portable oxygen concentrator (POC) models are manufacturer-tested in accordance with Section 21, Category M, of RTCA/DO-160F and must be affixed with a label of compliance.
*Battery may not exceed 100 watt-hour capacity. See battery acceptance for more details.
Approved label: You may use any POC bearing a manufacturers label stating in red text that "The manufacturer of this POC has determined this device conforms to all applicable FAA acceptance criteria for POC carriage and use on board aircraft."

Other portable oxygen concentrators not bearing the manufacturer's label mentioned above or included in the approved list above may be carried on board, but may only be used during the cruise portion of the flight.*

- Your oxygen concentrator may only be used in the battery-operated mode.
- The battery (including extra batteries) may not exceed 100 watt-hours.
- You must have enough fully charged batteries to power your POC for the scheduled flight duration as well as any unanticipated delays; 1.5 times your total travel time is a good standard to follow.
- Although there are charging ports on most of our aircraft, these ports are not designed for charging medical devices or batteries used for medical devices. WestJet is not liable for any injury or harm caused by a guest attempting to use this power supply for batteries or portable medical electronic devices.
- Extra batteries are only accepted in your carry-on bag or personal item. Battery terminals must be either recessed or packaged to prevent contact with metal objects (short circuit), including the terminals of other batteries. A maximum of 20 extra batteries is allowed per guest.
- The space available under our seats varies by seat and by aircraft type. If your POC doesn’t fit under the seat and you need to use your POC during the flight, please ask a member of the flight crew to relocate you.
