The stay at Starfish Varadero has been excellent so far. Having been to Varadero and Cuba seven times, there is a good understanding that things can be difficult for many people, and that makes the effort of the staff here even more appreciated. The staff are very professional, from the front-line team to management, and everyone has gone out of their way to make the experience welcoming.The manager personally greeted me on arrival, which made a great first impression and set a very positive tone for the whole stay. The room I received was very clean and well prepared, and at this point there is nothing negative to say about it. Everything in the room feels tidy, comfortable, and properly set up for a relaxing vacation. Overall, Starfish Varadero offers a warm, respectful environment where guests can clearly see how hard the staff work despite the challenges in Cuba. Their professionalism and kindness stand out, and I truly appreciate their efforts. I plan to update this review as time goes on, but at this stage I am delighted and would not hesitate to return or recommend this resort to friends and family.

This was my first time leaving Canada at the age of 21. Obviously, or not, coming from a first world country to Cuba… I was expecting a ‘rougher’ experience per se. Although I was expecting low grade service, I was pleasantly surprised at the fact that it was pretty well maintained for its age and usability. The rooms get cleaned every seconds day (the maids are awesome from my experience), there are about 2-3 restaurants/bars in the resort itself, and of course.. the beach was unbelievable. The Cuban beaches compose of off-white sands with many sea shells washed up in the beach line, underneath of a super shallow beach, it is *almost* to die for. In all honesty to wrap things up, I’d give the resort a solid 7/10. Remember, this is my first experience out of Canada. But if you’re like me, and you aren’t super picky regarding the rooms, this is the place to go??. *ps. I found a lizard in my room, but that’s a really good thing, because without him there the spiders would have eaten me alive* *pps. My first encounter with a large arachnid (tarantula), was myself farrr too drunk (all inclusive resort), and I have a video of me stepping on it, I have mixed emotions about it hahaha.*

This was my 8th time in this hotel and the last one .. Got special last minute pricing, cause was not impressed in Nov 2024 This time is even lower. What is great, beach, ocean, like Italian restaurant ( single place where cheese is not limited and not peace given by director of cheese ) What is not that great : on arrival were given really really bad unit, toilet is not working, safe is not working and MOLD ! I don't know how this unit can be even offered to anyone, serious health concerns, we arrived late at night and had to sleep in that unit. Arrival desk told us we booked standard room and if we want we can upgrade, this is first time I see it in Cuba. And next day , thanks to Jose ( customer relationship manager ) we were moved to very nice room , since than we didn't have much issue in hte room, other than water pressure is very low and need to let it run for 10+min to get something warm. Buffet: daily "battle" to get more than 2 tiny slices of cheese . variety of food is very limited and some things looked like stayed there for over night omlete section need to specifically ask that you want 2 egg omlete and not 2 pieces of quter of egg omlete Once I saw grande chefe arrived and had nice plate at the breakfast for himself only , where we need to actually really insist on getting more than 2 slices of cheese from "cheese director" ( special person distributing slices. cockroaches running on plates and on tables, first time I see this in Cuba TBH and this is what actually determines my last time in this hotel. Entertainment: beach ones are fewer and between, I think we only played 2-3 times before 12pm voleyball , otherwise ball couldn't be found , to be fair I'm not counting those days when weather wasn't permitting very limitted enterteinment in the evening , dedicated place is not used and everythign is done in the semi lobby behind elevators Drinks often would run out of rum and you see security guards are actaully sellign same rum LOL anyways this is not to sound negative Nancy, but hotel is really gone bad defiently not returning there, even for under 500cad I paid

The buffet was bare minimum food . It was cold and food didn’t look fresh. The standard rooms are in poor condition . The bathrooms are very basic. The entertainment is literally non existent . They have a basic bar in the main building but overall it feels like a Canadian camp site with the carribean sun and sand . The hallways are dirty! .

I wrote a more detailed review and it was rejected so basically, buyer beware. Very little what was advertised was delivered. Lacked the very basics in food, cleanliness and value for what we paid. The staff was amazing and did what they could when they could and thankful to see Cuba but stay away from this resort
