We had a fabulous time at the St James Club. Everything at the resort was very clean and well kept. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The pillows were amazing! With the exception of Oriental night, all of the food was very delicious. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help you. Highly recommend

Very relaxing trip. Dane was fantastic delivering drinks on the beach. The water sports team was friendly and quick to get you out on the water. The grounds were well maintained. The chef at the beach restaurant was excellent as were the servers. Because of covid, there were little to no activities taking place. Bring your own water to the gym because there is no water station. Having done a snorkeling excursion off the resort and one on the Calypso Cat through the resort, Calypso Cat wins hands down. Cant wait to go back and see how things are when we get back to some sense of normalcy!

This was our first visit to the St. James Club. The grounds were beautiful. There were plenty of pools to choose from and our Royal Suite was quite spacious. While we were disappointed more restaurants were not open, we expected it due to the low occupancy. The Docksider had the same menu for lunch everyday. We would have enjoyed a little more variety. The Rainbow Restaurant had theme nights and the food was good sometimes and other times not so much. Breakfast was always wonderful. The employees were delightful. Always smiling and chatting with you. We felt like it was a private resort. Special shout out to some people who really made our stay extra special. Lemuel and Cora working hard in the restaurants. Our favorite bartenders Patrick, Andre and Dane with his drink cart who met us at the spa to bring us a drink so we could have a refreshment on our way back down the hill. Niko and Adino at the watersports. Martine and Terri who made water aerobics and stretch class fun as well as other activities. Marsha the manager was very hands on and could be seen throughout the property making sure the guests were happy. Lastly I would be remiss if I did not mention Travis Beaston from Elite Island Resorts who assisted us with changing our resort when St. James Club in St. Lucia was not open. Thank you for allowing us to go to Antigua. We will be back.

Still a Favorite Even During Covid

Good memories linger surrounding our 4th visit to this lovely resort. We are an older couple who enjoy peaceful surroundings and pretty views; the Jr. Suites at this resort provide such a respite. We were not disappointed this time around as Room 208 was actually one we had stayed in before. It is a good location for both Dockside Restaurant and Rainbow Restaurants, as well as the lobby bar (which has been nicely renovated to let in more light). Unfortunately, Piccolo Mondo was not open this time around due to reduced crowds but still, a disappointment to us. There is also the Beach Bar which, just this year, has been remodeled to have further choices at lunch (menu provided and sit-down service); also, the much appreciated choice of a salad bar whereby a wait person serves you from behind the salad bar (same at breakfast from the buffet). The Coffee Bar remains a great place to obtain a cold drink and snack should you desire that. Kudos to Collette Julien at the front desk for such knowledgeable help in assistance to get a PCR test for moving onward to the island of Anguilla after our Antigua stay. The hospital (across the island from our location) wanted us to come at 5:30 a.m. for the test; Collette called and was able to book a Dr. to come to the resort at a much more reasonable time (and more convenient for us as far as location!) The cost of a round-trip taxi across the island was the same as paying the Dr. to come to us. Thank you, Collette! Our one complaint was the additional $24 per day resort fee; while we can swallow the reason for this one time (extra expense for the resort for sanitizer equipment all over the property, etc.), we will be looking to see this charge does NOT remain in the future! All in all, a good stay and we would consider going again, hopefully when the coronavirus is behind us all!

    Excellent trip despite COVID

Very easy getting into Antigua and to the resort, which is about 40 bumpy minutes from the airport. The resort is gorgeous - well manicured, well laid out with fantastic pools and great beaches. Lots of wind on the ocean side; calm and beautiful on the bay side. Because of COVID many of the typical island experiences were shut down, and for 4-5 days over Easter weekend the beaches were closed by the government as well. So we pretty much stayed in the resort and just enjoyed the pools and bars. We played tennis several days and took lessons from the local pro. This used to be a tennis club, so the astroturf courts are nice (they no longer have clay courts which were removed to build more rooms). Bennett, the tennis pro, was absolutely amazing. I may have learned more in a few hours than I've learned from my local pro in the last year. Highly recommended as a destination if you are a tennis player. They also had nice pickleball courts and a nice well-equipped gym which we used often. COVID precautions were taken seriously - staff all wore masks, used sanitizer, and were careful about distancing. Patrons wore masks while entering or exiting common areas like pools and restaurants, then removed them when seated. It seemed to work well. They had a visiting doctor come 3 times a week to administer COVID tests for return to the US - we had to wait in line awhile to get ours, but it was easy and cost $69. Staff were all amazingly friendly - we feel like Bennett (tennis pro), Selvin (lead bartender at night), and many others are old friends now. Dane with the traveling liquor cart was awesome, as were all the restaurant staff. The only downside, for which I deducted a star, was the food. Two restaurants were closed due to the decreased guest numbers with COVID. The food at the main buffet (Docksider) was really not very good. We tried not to eat there at all after the first night. Food at the other open restaurants was a la carte with some theme nights, and was excellent (11-11 and Rainbow). Beachside bar and grill was also great. But I felt the buffet food should have been to a higher standard. Leaving was easy except for the airport which was disorganized, crowded, and loud. Get there very early as it takes forever to get through.
