    Beach Front Find

If you want a great beach front find, this is it - for the beach front. The rooms were nice but if you want nice, competent service - this is not the place. Our flight was delayed and we arrived late, so we called the hotel to be sure that we would be able to check in whenever we would arrive. We were told that we had to check in BY 2:00 A.M.. We were traveling with another couple, it was 1:15 A.M. and baggage claim was then delayed, so instead of taking one taxi from the airport, we split the couples up & took two so that one could wait for our luggage and one could check into our rooms before 2:00. When we arrived at Ocean Sky, we were informed that we had until check out the next day to check in. ????? We paid extra for 2 taxis to be sure to check in prior to when we were told TWICE that we had to check in BY 2:00 A.M. …. when we didn't have to. ????? Don't eat at the hotel. The food is below average & the kitchen got 2 of our 4 orders wrong. That could be due to the horrible service from the wait staff. Not only was he unfriendly, but he obviously didn't listen to and correctly write down our very simple orders. Our coffee and waters were never refilled. We had to go in search for coffee .. water .. silverware .. our bill. Our 'simple' breakfast took 2 hours. The bartender was not much better. While he got our drinks right, one would think that if you work for tips you would be at minimum nice if not actually friendly. The walk to nearby, great restaurants and grocery and liquor stores was short and nice. If you stay here, just be mindful of when you can check in, don't eat at their restaurant, and make your own drinks to take to the pool and beach ;)

My wife and I stayed for a week and totally enjoyed our stay . First, check in was a breeze-done in a couple of minutes with a smile on the receptionists face. Went up to our room (804) which was one of the least expensive rooms and from our balcony had a fabulous view of the pool and beach. If I had a question about anything it was answered politely and accurately. Housekeeping was excellent, plenty of towels and coffee left in the room. Valet parking at $18/night was very reasonably considering that it is more expensive in other hotels nearby and and the valets were quick and efficient. AND NO RESORT FEES-the single most aggravating fee in travel today! The beach seemed clean but we spent most of our time by the pool and it was very clean. Will definitely return.

The room was good sized, it included a kitchenette and living room. Great ocean view. The bathroom had been recently renovated, very nice. The only drawback- there is a connecting door to the room. We could hear a lot of noise from the people in that room.

    Right on the beach

This is a good place to stay especially for the price. You can walk out of the backdoor of the lobby onto the beach. It is a nice calm beach area where you can also rent jet skis and kayaks. Valet service is provided for 18 dollars a day. The atmosphere is nice here along with the staff who were helpful and friendly. Our room was nothing spectacular, but it was clean and had a refrigerator, microwave, and the other basic things you would need. Location is okay and there is some stuff to do within walking distance. It's great for people not wanting to be right in the center of the business near Las Olas.

Good for budget trip, probably wouldn’t return

TL;DR: You get what you pay for. Bring snacks. If you get room 204, request a new one. I was in between 2 and 3 stars for a few reasons, but my girlfriends and I settled on 3 stars because we felt the pros outweighed the cons. The pros were that the hotel was right on the beach, with free daily pool towels and free WiFi. Our room and bathroom were both a nice size. One note is that we didn’t realize the beds were full-sized instead of queen-sized, but it was not a big deal. Another pro was that the hotel was within walking distance of some places to eat, a grocery store, a pharmacy, a souvenir shop, and a bank. Additionally, they allowed us to extend our check-out time, free of charge, which was nice. The staff was okay, it really depended on the person you were speaking with. A big con was that we were stereotyped as spring breakers because we came in mid-March, but we are all mid-20-somethings that have graduated college and just wanted a break from work (we live in cold NY). It was noticeable by how we were treated by a man who appeared to be the manager. When checking in, the tone in which he explained the security deposit sounded like a veiled threat, and throughout the trip, he was a tad aggressive about our wristbands. The more annoying cons were small but noticeable (in hindsight, we should have requested a different room). Our room had very dirty floors and bad lighting (we seemed to be the only room on the floor that didn’t have a light in the hallway). The A/C unit was also very difficult to use, we had to press buttons about 20 times for the settings to change. The mini fridge was barely cold. In the bathroom, the sink drained very slowly and there was a bar of soap lodged in the toilet. We had to call maintenance twice to fix the toilet, and when he finally got the bar of soap out, he told us to stop sticking soap in the toilet (way to assume...). Our room had a view of the dumpsters behind the hotel, and it was incredibly loud some mornings as they were clearing it out. My friend also felt uncomfortable using the balcony as workers were constantly down by the dumpsters. Last, the cleaning staff was not friendly at all. The lady was rude and seemed inconvenienced when we just wanted to grab our shoes and purses to leave. The restaurant was overpriced and the food was subpar. I walked to Starbucks every morning to grab breakfast and those protein boxes for lunch. Side note: Most of our Lyft/Uber drivers had no idea where they were going. Be prepared, if you don’t have your own car.
