Facility could us some sprucing up, but overall good value for price paid. Hallways and elevator floors need cleaning or replacing. Air conditioner never really cooled room. Friendly and helpful staff.
Ilikai Tower needs work, and soon!
Venture553317 (Vancouver, Canada) on Mar 12, 2024
Our third visit, but likely our last time to Honolulu We have stayed in unit 1304, now 3 times and the unit is due for an upgrade. However, some of the problems are related to the Ilikai Tower itself which also needs an upgrade. For example, it was almost impossible to get cold water running in the kitchen; water was always warm to hot. We had to wash rice and vegetables in the bathroom sink; not what one expects after spending $7000 for a month in a condo. Maintenance crew said it was a building issue. The Ilikai does not seem concerned about the many pigeons flying around who poop wherever and whenever they want. 1304 had a large pile of pigeon droppings on the lanai when we arrived; Marina Hawaii Vacations got it cleaned up quickly, but the pigeons are vermin; there are measures that the Ilikai could take to scare them away, but they seemingly fail to do anything. Cleaning staff should check the lanais to ensure they are clean of "poop" for new guests. Further, 1304 has way too much furniture if you want to use the fold-out bed (quite awkward and heavy to fold out). The excess of furniture is not needed and just gets in the way. Thank you to Marina Hawaii for getting the blind replaced when we moved in. The problems with the elevators breaking down was worrisome; not sure how EMTs could have got to anyone in medical distress: helicopters?? The Ilikai needs to have a backup system; lack of working elevators (including the freight elevators) was a serious safety concern. Other than the above, the power outages and being constantly buzzed by incoming passenger aircraft and screaming USAF jets, it was okay.
