    Awesome Kid Friendly Resort

    We were a family of 11 of which 6 where children under the age of 16. The resort was very kid friendly. A beautiful setting and very friendly staff. The resort was very cautious with the worldwide virus outbreak and took extraordinary measures to sanitize everything. All rooms had sanitizers and every restaurant or shop sprayed disinfectant on your hands before entering. Made us feel safe! Only disappointment was due to the weather that disallowed the water activities but nothing the resort could control! It was an amazing time.

    We spent 8 days at Beaches Ocho Rios just before all the Covid-19 stuff started in Canada. The resort property was gorgeous as always ( this was our 4th time to this property). The staff was all super helpful and very hardworking. Shout out to Kado @ Neptunes. Fantastic server and very fun. And also the teen and tween coordinators Rushane and Alex. So much energy and fun loving guys. We also love seeing Orville each time we go. He is great with the kids and my son was super happy to win simon says this year! He has been trying for three years now! LOL. The whole staff here works very hard, always happy and smiling. They spent a lot of extra time cleaning the washrooms and public areas to help keep everyone safe. Can't wait till we get to see all of our Jamaican family again!

    We had a disappointing check in as we were not assigned the room we had paid for a year in advance. They tried to change us to a lower category room and convince us it was the same. Ultimately we switched rooms our second day, though still not the room we booked. I found the front desk staff to be less than helpful with this endeavour. They seemed as though my request to have what I paid for a bit indulgent. For the record, we booked this room while AT this resort the year before... The good news is that everything else following this unpleasant start to the trip was outstanding. As mentioned, this was our second time at this resort. My kids described this trip as even better than the first visit. The staff were amazing, especially Tom Cruise and Alex. Oh the tears that my kids shed the night before we left... These guys work so hard and really make everyone feel special. I don’t know how they continuously have such a wonderful attitude and endless energy!! Now, unfortunately, our visit fell during the time that Coronavirus was deemed a pandemic. We noticed extra cleaning, lots of hand sanitizers and efforts made by staff to distance families from other guests whenever possible. The resort is now closed because of the virus, and frankly as the number of guests dwindled during the week, this was most definitely foreseeable. There were hushed meetings among staff and a few brave individuals who confided in us that they were worried. Despite these growing concerns, we were treated with such respect and kindness. My kids will likely know how difficult it must have been for everyone to keep smiling and fulfilling our vacation dreams while simultaneous stressing about their futures. We have booked to go back to Turks for a change, however, I don’t think my kids would ever forgive me if we didn’t return to Ocho Rios again sometime soon. To all the fantastic staff at this wonderful resort, if you are reading this, thank you for all that you do. This too shall pass, and we will all be back again soon. Thinking of you all and hoping you are all doing well.

    Worst Hotel ever

    After several hours of flying and then a 3 hour drive with a maniac we arrived at the resort. As soon as we got out of the van the worlds rudest woman ever informed us we would need to go to the resort in Negril. 3.5 hours away. I had left 3 messages for the hotel to call me to see if they recommend we travel at a different time. The first man said no way. Come on down. It will be fine. The other 2 messages were never returned. After a very heated debate we opted to stay and fly home the next day. I had purchased an oceanfront walkout suite. Which implied a bedroom and sitting are. Plenty of room for 4. Nope. Not even close. It was dirty, no bedroom and the service awful. This resort is a joke. Save your money. I’m posting the pictures the resort has and then mine. Oh all the feral cats were an added bonus. Nasty.

    While in Kingston, Jamaica for work, we decided to escape the city and head to the much talked about region of Ocho Rios. Sandals was recommended to us and after reviewing the website we decided to book two garden view rooms. As frequent travellers we were impressed by the description of the property, the numerous restaurants and expected standards of the room. Upon arrival we were greeted with less than enthusiastic personnel from the luggage handler to the ‘process driven’ receptionist that treated us like a ‘number’ as opposed to a guest at a 5 star resort. We entered our connecting rooms and immediately noticed they were partial ocean view. I called the desk to discuss that we booked garden view yet seemed to be paying for ocean view and they suggested I need to speak to business office when it opened on Monday. The rooms were dusty, moist, and resembled a 3 star accommodation. Daily servicing did not seem to address the lack of cleanliness in the room. The only lunch option was one location with a minimal selection of offerings. The website suggested all premium drinks were included and even went as far as to display Hendricks gin, a favourite of my wife and daughter. Sadly Hendricks was not offered anywhere on the property. I use this only as an example of what seems like a misrepresentation of the level of amenities that could be expected by booking at your resort. The staff were of the extremes. Some were very friendly and service focused, however a number (bar tenders and wait staff) were often cold and unfriendly. We felt like we were inconveniencing them. The wrong people to have attitude, when dining and having a drink are some of the more memorable moments while on vacation. As mentioned, we are frequent travellers and rarely if ever stay at an all inclusive resort. We took a chance based on the website and overall description of Beaches. We are sad to report that Beaches did not come anywhere close to the standard we expected. We made the difficult decision to leave a day early and head back into Kingston and booked a hotel. We didn't want to write this review but unfortunately our official complaints have been met with perfunctory 'we will get back to you' and up until now, silence.
