I love the Grand Floridian...I mean truly love the GF, but what is going on? They can’t keep up with the crowds. They are simply overwhelmed and service is suffering. We went to the Enchanted Rose and ordered five cocktails. The $30 champagne cocktail came out flat, a glass of wine came out with a dirty glass (someone else’s lipstick and finger prints on the glass) and the others were incredibly cheap pours. Five cocktails going for $150...come on, Disney. I have no issue at all with the price - if I get what I’m paying for. If you’re going to charge the prices you do the product has to live up to the price. This property is my favorite. It has been since its been open, but this visit the staff can’t keep up with the crowds. It’s pandemonium. We have 6:35 reservation at Citricos. Went at 6pm and asked if we could come at 6:45 so we could have a round of cocktails (noted above). We were told no that we had to be there at 6:35. No problem it’s busy. We get there at 6:30. We were seated at 6:46.

What has happened to this gem?

This is my second stay at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa as an annual passholder but sadly this Hotel it's really beginning to show its age. The Grand Floridian is a beautiful property however over the past several years and the more to come Disney properties are being retrofitted and built brand new to be more modern and exciting for guests. This time I stayed in Big Pine Key room 9427. The room showing its age the carpet had some damage and there was an uncomfortable half inch Gap at the bottom of the door which allowed you to see all movement and hear all the noise from the hallway at all hours. The shower still had one of those older water-saving shower heads, the restroom fan was beyond noisy and did not function it as designed and the air conditioner appear to be no more than a prop. This being the holiday season expecting crowds is a usual thing however the Grand Floridian could do with some traffic management within the main building especially around 1900 Park Fare and the Grand Floridian Cafe to manage the strollers and scooters as they clogged the vestibule. The overall rating is based on comparison to my August stay at the Gran Destino Tower located at Disney's Coronado Springs. That new tower had some of the most attentive, kindest and most enthusiastic cast members I had seen at a Disney Resort. That particular Tower was also the cleanest and had great updated amenities within the room at one third of the price of the Grand Floridian. Going forward as passholder I intend to stay there for the foreseeable future. I do not intend for this review to diminish the staff or the facilities at the Grand Floridian however I do believe it is time that Disney put some work back into that Flagship Hotel especially for the amount they charge per night.

...This year had been a holiday for my 60th birthday so i decided to splurge and stay at the GF,,It was myself ,daughter & 14 year old Grand daughter..Our room was beautiful (sago cay) with an excellent view .Although it wasn't a big hindrance our tv in room kept losing signal with a faulty connection & had to call a man out twice to fix but it still stopped working again a 3rd time and we left it!.. Our biggest upset was at around 2am one morning we were all woken by violent sounding men right outside our room. They were shouting abuse and at one point must have lent against our door! My grand daughter was crying under the covers saying "they may have guns"...It stopped after 10 minutes and went quiet We were frightened to move,to use the toilet,or to speak on the phone!..We eventually slept then the next morning went straight to reception!...We spoke with a man that confirmed they had known about the incident (another guest had called them) and police had been called!..He offered us nothing in the way of a "good will gesture", just apologized!...I understand these sorts of things can happen but this would put me off booking any outer room again as if there is an incident they have to rely on your calling them, i feel there was a lack of security!..So in summary for the splurge we made to stay at their flagship hotel it wasn't worth it and wished i had booked Pop Century ,i would have saved loads and by staying at a deluxe hotel we received no better treatment!..

    Beautiful lobby, disappointing rooms

We just got back from a 5 night stay at the Grand Floridian. We have previously stayed at the Polynesian but I wanted to stay somewhere different this time and I had always heard how beautiful the Christmas decor is at the Grand Floridian. The lobby and the grounds definitely did not disappoint. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous and the holiday decor looked amazing. The grounds are also meticulously maintained. We were so excited to walk into our room after checking in but were extremely didlsapponted. The room was so run down. The carpet looked so worn out and extremely dirty. The red pitiful couch had white stains and looked like something at a thrift store. The bathroom looked like something I would expect in a motel. I can’t fathom how a deluxe Disney resort can have such run down rooms. In fact, the toilet seat had permanent stains that refused to come out even when my husband and I tried to wipe it with a wet tissue. It’s one thing for the room to look old but it’s completely unacceptable when things have stains on them and are falling apart! We regretted booking this resort and wished we had stuck with the Polynesian. The Polynesian has much nicer and cleaner rooms. Having said that, the cast members at the Grand Floridian were all very helpful and accommodating. The fact that the rooms look so old and dirty is due to the fault of the management. They know people will keep paying for the name and thus don’t bother to update the rooms. I, however refuse to pay so much for a room that looks like it should belong in a motel. We are going to stick with the Polynesian or might just stay at the Four Seasons next time we are there.

    Wow, that says it all....wow!

Just returned from a magical stay at the GF. We were a party of 4 adults and two children soon to be 8 and 4. It was practically perfect in every way as Mary would say. And yes, we did speak to Mary at breakfast (1900 Park Fare) who was quite delightful! Played the part well as our little one was playing with the sugar packets. You know Mary and that spoonful of sugar!! LOL. The resort was decorated beautifully for Christmas with a gigantic gingerbread house in the lobby. Wait..it gets better. There were people inside the house selling delicious desserts...many of which were on the dining plan as snacks! Olaf donuts....solid chocolate Mickey lollipops....Christmas tree cake pops....etc. Don't forget to check out the sweets at Gasparilla's Grill which is a quick service. They have those Mickey cupcakes and more items that are also on the dining plan as snacks. We had dinner there one night and they had shrimp cocktail AS A SNACK!!!! I think there were at least 5 large shrimp in it. The swimming pool was lovely because it had a huge area that was not deep so our little one could walk a lot of it. They even provide life vests if you would like. You can sit outside and view the fireworks at night. You can stroll along the walkway that leads you to the Contemporary. You can hop the monorail or take the boat ride to the Magic Kingdom. The rooms were spacious. We could watch the Electrical Parade from our balcony. Room service, turn down service with chocolates, bell service....I could go on and on. Everyone we spoke to was helpful and pleasant. The access to bus transportation for Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios was just steps out the front entrance. Ride the monorail to the transportation center and hop another monorail to Epcot. All in all, no need to drive or be bothered with stressful parking. I'd go again in an instant! Yes, it's expensive, but I've learning to "Let it go" when you are at Disney. I don't regret any part of our trip!
