First time since Covid-nice to be back!

kellyjayread (Okotoks, Canada) on Apr 14, 2024

Just returned from the Decameron. 4th time we've been there now, but first time in 5 years. A few changes but basically still the same. I like the upgrade to reserving your ala carte meals on the hotel app, instead of the old way of lining up like musical chairs. You have to do this daily at 8am sharp if you want to get a table for the evening. Nightly entertainment at 930pm was excellent like before. Always good shows and run about 45-50 minutes. The host was very good and humourous. Take a floatie with you from home, blow it up at the resort gift shop for 15 pesos ($1), then you can refill it daily for free if it goes flat or loses air. The resort no longer has a bank/money exchange kiosk, which was unfortunate. 10-12 minute walk to the nearest bank to exchange money which was a pain to do. Other than that, the food was good, weather was good, staff was good, adult only pool was good in block 5. If the price is right in the future, we most likely will return again.

Excellent time! Good resort.

Mary K (Amherstview) on Apr 14, 2024

Loved this resort, would highly recommend! Staff and Food was good and I have been to 5 star resorts. Met lots of friendly people and never had a problem finding a chair at the beach or pool. The room was so clean and the resort was spotless. Abit outdated but who cares! Will be back! Can't wait! Loved that we could walk of resort and go for lunch and to Bucerias. Ignore the negative reviews. This is a gem!

Another Great Vacation at Royal Decameron!!

FarAway48155528880 (Saint Paul, Minnesota) on Apr 14, 2024

I have been vacationing at RDC for many years, this year was my 7th time returning. I am in my late 20s, and have also stayed at a couple hostels in Puerto Vallarta. I really don’t understand some of these very negative reviews. Maybe the reviewers are used to 5 star hotels. If you’re not expecting luxury, RDC is an excellent option for a fun and memorable vacation. Pros: The beach is gorgeous, one of the best areas in the PVR region. Quiet, with ample chairs. There are some people saving chairs of course which is annoying, but if you get to the beach before 12pm you’ll be able to find a spot. We never had an issue with grabbing two chairs. The staff are always friendly, Sergio at pool 1 bar is great. They work very hard to maintain the grounds of the resort. Most staff speak English well, but don’t come to Mexico expecting everyone to speak English. Learn some phrases in Spanish. The drinks are good and there are many options. There is always entertainment at the resort, whether that be activities, nightly shows, or sports that you can check out equipment for. Bucerías is a very quaint town, safe, and walkable. “Cons” (from other reviews I’ve seen): The resort/rooms are outdated. Read the description of amenities in the room before you go. No, there is not mini fridge- why do you need one? Yes, there are only elevators in a couple blocks- the stairs are good for exercise! We were only in our room to change and sleep, and the bed was comfortable. I have stayed in every block besides Block 1 and I have never had an issue with hot water. They give you a large water bottle when they clean your room, otherwise there is always cold water available at the bars. The resort itself is very charming. The grounds are beautiful, and there are iguanas! Sure it’s on the “older” side but I find that it has Mexican charm. If you want to stay at one of those mega high rise resorts where you could feel like you’re at any random place in the world, book there. The food. I disagree with most reviews about this. I find the food good, even at the buffet which apparently so many people hate. Are you going to like everything? No of course not. They have to try and cater to multiple tastes. The guacamole is great, always fresh fruit, and the hot food has many options. Yes, they put hot dogs on pizza.. who doesn’t like hot dogs? It was good! I am an early riser so I had no issues booking at the specialty restaurants. We ate at Jap Jap and Piccolo this trip, and I have tried all other specialty option in the past. Piccolo was delicious! I am not picky, I’ve always found something to eat at the buffet. If you are looking for a fun place to have a budget friendly vacation in Banderas Bay, then Royal Decameron is the spot. There is a reason why me, like many others, continue to return for years. Don’t expect 5 Star luxury and you won’t be disappointed. Read the description of amenities and don’t focus on the negative reviews on here. Thank you RDC for another great year!

We will be back

Trishiarh1 (Saskatoon, Canada) on Apr 11, 2024

I turned to reviews when we booked this resort and I was concerned with some of the things people had to say so was relieved when we arrived and had a wonderful week at the resort. This resort is budget friendly with a perfect location and therefore a good deal for the money. We upgraded to an ocean front room which I highly recommend. I would give our room 3.5 stars while the view from the balcony exceeded our expectations. Clean and fresh bedding each day and a comfy bed. Food was average, but always something good to eat. The beach provided ample opportunity to run and walk which we enjoyed everyday. Pools need a refresh but were fine. Chill vibe with nobody hassling about timeshares. We will be back!

I do not recommend this resort

Delina W on Apr 10, 2024

The fact that they used hot dogs as “breakfast sausages” and on the ham and pineapple pizza says enough. Our room got cleaned once, had to ask for a mini fridge in our room and it didn’t even work. There buffets were not good. If you wanted to go to one of the other restaurants on site, you have to be up before 8am to book a reservation. We tried every day to book and it always said sold out, and you can only book a reservation for that day, not a few days in advance.
