Best experience in service. Yara and her group at the platinum exclusive pool gives outstanding service. She made us feel special. She’s a great factor at our stay. Awesome at her job. The food is not that great, but there were a lot of choices. We got a good view at our room, sunrise and ocean view. Although the a/c needs more work. The room service is awesome, on time and accurate. I gave it a four out of five. I will definitely come back.

Advantages and disadvantages of our recent trip.

We have just come back from an 11 night stay at Grand Riviera Princess. I have written a list of all the positives and negatives we found at this hotel and I hope this helps when looking at hotels to book for your holiday! Advantages: Lots of restaurants to choose from, a massive range of vegetarian and also vegan foods available at each meal time. Lots of pools to chose from, one lively pool that has entertainment and music playing all day every day. 3/4 smaller, quieter pools which have swim up bars so it’s easy to get a drink. They also have waiters walking around the pools to get you drinks if you don’t want to get into the water. Lots of wildlife! Coaties (will write more about these in the negatives), spider monkeys & lots of other wild animals. Nicely decorated, modern, spacious bedroom. There is also a few English channels which is good if you just fancy a quiet night in for a change. The entertainment team really try their best, every night there is a show and a band of some sort playing (Rock band, traditional Mexican band, harpist etc). They also do a beach foam party on Fridays and beach games etc through each day. Disadvantages: When we arrived at Cancun airport we was given a letter to say a bug was going around these parts of Mexico (we wouldn’t have come here if we had known this beforehand - we feel that TUI should have informed us before we traveled). Unlucky for us my partner caught it (along with many other people in the hotel) and was poorly for at least 5 days of our trip! If you’re going soon make sure you pack Imodium!!! We found a lot of the food in the buffet restaurants tepid at best. Even at lunchtime they had “fresh cooking stations” and I got some pasta from one of these thinking at least it would be hot, I was wrong! Yak! The food in the buffet was also the same every day, after a while this is very boring. Try and book the restaurants every other day to break it up a bit. Personally we didn’t think the staff were that friendly or happy! Even if you tipped them, the service didn’t seem to improve. Although the wildlife is amazing, coaties are famous for stealing stuff!! If you are at the side of the pool make sure you wrap your belongings in a towel so they can’t pinch things. We made friends with an English couple and they had had a mobile phone stolen by a coatie but they are so quick and climb trees so fast it’s hard to get stuff back. So be careful! The overall cleanliness of the hotel wasn’t great, the rooms were brilliant but the grounds and pool all seemed to be lacking in cleanliness. Even the pool had scum floating in it along with dead bugs etc, this would need improving if we was ever to return! Also coatie / cat poo around a lot of places (inside the hotel) which sometimes was there for days at a time. Overall the weather was lovely but we had to spend a lot of our time in the room because of being poorly. I personally wouldn’t ever return here, but I don’t think I’d return to Mexico in a hurry. All I can say is do your research properly into hotels etc because it’s so expensive to feel let down like we did. I think this is a 3 star hotel at very best.

Just returned from a 14 night stay at this resort. On arrival first impression WOW ??. The resort itself is huge and grounds and gardens are beautiful and well looked after. The rooms are spacious and cleaned everyday. Towels changed daily and mini bar restocked daily with water, beer and soft drinks which was appreciated. Lots of wildlife around the area including coatis and iguanas. Guests we met had coatis take their food and bags from sun lounger so need to be careful what you leave around. Resort quieter this time of year so lots of space around the pool areas and great choice of pools available. Pool areas all clean and well looked after and waitress service for drinks an added bonus.Special thanks to both Margarita and Ady who were so attentive and a joy to meet. Always service with a smile ??. Cocktails good especially the mango tango and Miami vice. ?? Buffet restaurants good although by middle of holiday just one area open due to reduced guests but still wide variety of food available. Restaurants easy to make reservations and favourites were Mama Mia and La Vaqueri. There is also the Sports bar open 24/7 so always able to get a snack if needed. There is also an ice cream parlour which has lots of choice and the ice cream is lovely. The lobby bar at the entrance is a lovely area just to relax with a drink before or after dinner and the staff always polite. All in all a fantastic holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the resort and met lovely staff. First impression WOW and by the end of the holiday still a massive WOW ??!!

    We loved it!

We recently returned from a 10 night stay (2 couples) and we had the best time. The resort was lovely and the staff were helpful and friendly. The beach and sea were so nice and there is a beach bar there too. We loved the food at all of the restaurants. You never go hungry but if you fancy a late night snack, the Sports Bar is open 24 hours. The pools are lovely. There is music at one pool or plenty of quiet ones to choose from. We enjoyed the evening entertainment and the bands were always great. Our room was fine and spacious with a lovely bathroom. To be fair, we only slept in it as we were out most of the day and only went back to get ready to go out in the evenings. It was our anniversary while we were there and our brother-in-law paid for us to all eat at the Chill Out restaurant - food was lovely and we had a few tequilas. Mama Mia is really nice (Italian) and so is La Hacienda (Mexican). We had a fun night at Miso where the chef cooks the food in front of you. I'd definitely recommend this hotel and we'd love to return. You are made to feel welcome and everyone wants you to enjoy yourself. If I had to say 1 negative thing it would be that they could do with another toaster in the buffet restaurant as 1 is not enough for the amount of people who like toast with their breakfast ;-) but this would definitely not stop us returning.

We’ve just returned from 2 weeks at this hotel. It was our third visit there but this year we feel that standards have dropped. When we arrived and were given our travel agent envelope there was a letter in it saying that there was some kind of sickness bug on Riviera Maya. It advised about being careful what was eaten and drunk. I have a compromised immune system so I had to be very careful. If I had been told this by First Choice before booking the holiday I would have gone somewhere else. Check in was fine and the room was ok but there were signs that the hotel needed updating. Outside of our room there was Coatie (small animal) poo. This was not cleaned up for a few days. There were also sauce wrappers strewn across the floor for 3 days. On the corridor there was a plug socket broken and the front was on the floor. Although our bed was made every day the room was not really cleaned. We paid £900 to be upgraded to platinum on arrival and found that the only difference between platinum and standard rooms was service on the beach and room service. Whilst this hotel does have lovely grounds/gardens I feel that the interiors are now starting to look shabby. I also do not think upgrading or paying for Platinum is worth the money. We did love this hotel but will now be looking for an alternative hotel to stay.
