I spent three weeks at Viva Wyndham v Samana and I couldn’t have wished for more. The beach - perfect. Food - excellent. Staff and animation team - out of this world. Daily activities are delightful and the shows they put on in the evening are always very high quality and completely magical. I’m not big on hotels but if I were to come back, I would most definitely return to Viva. Thank you for the wonderful time! PS Sending some extra love to the cat that lives at the hotel

This is our 4th time at the Viva Wyndham and can’t wait to return to this beautiful resort. We noticed that a few guests had also been there more than once. Great mix of people from all parts of Canada, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy & a few from South America. The food is good. Alessandro in the buffet is a great chef, makes amazing pasta. The other cooks were great too. There are 3 other alla carte restaurants which we didn’t get to this time. There is so much variety in the buffet. The entertainment team is great, Cristina, Jordan, Chocolate, Janka, Nicki, Mary, Deylin, Joanely. Most staff are very happy and pleasant. The cleaning of our room was pretty decent. But not sure why we’d only get 1 glass in our room every day, when initially there were 2. One thing to warn about. In the past, we’ve never had any issues walking on the beach, or even walking in town. One day my husband and I walked on the beach (Coson), off resort property, some guy sitting on the shore, looked strange, and too bad we didn’t look back because after we passed him, he ran past us and ripped my husband’s gold chain off his neck. My husband is not a small guy (6 ft 2 inch and 230 lb). So, don’t wear any gold or have anything valuable with you while walking on the beach. The hotel, locals were very sorry this unfortunate incident happened.

Great trip with group of friends. It was our forth time to Samana, but our first to Wyndham. We were previously to Cayo Levantado three times. It is a beautiful resort with a great layout, easy to get around. The grounds are all very well maintained. We saw tiny hummingbirds at the flowering shrubs by the pool. The resort has a nice chilled out atmosphere. The rooms are compact and are very clean. On the evening of our arrival our phone rang just as we were entering our room.It was reception asking if out toilet worked. Actually it did not work. We went to reception three days in a row to report it. Each time they would enter it in their computer and say it will be fixed. It did not work for the whole week. You should not have to go to the lobby to go to the washroom! The public washrooms were always clean. The food was good , service was usually good but they could definitely a second wait staff to help with serving coffee at breakfast. We enjoyed listening to the music in the lobby in the evenings. We went to the disco a few nights. The staff were great sports! A big negative for us was the lack of shade on the beach. We are fair skinned. The beach is gorgeous but seriously needs more shade. The palm trees are very tall and skinny and do not give much shade. As the sun moves everyone is busy repositioning their loungers , often a futile endeavor! No shade to be had.The beach is great for long walks , both ways . Very peaceful. We would love to go back but we would need more shade at the beach.

My son and I enjoyed our stay. Rooms were comfortable and cleaned well every day. The staff was friendly. The food was better than expected. We didn't attend any of the entertainment so I can't review. Unfortunately it was yellow or red flags so we couldn't make use of the water activities except swimming. I would visit again. One warning is about the tours arranged by Air Canada Vacations to El Limon. I recommend going to El Limon but use another tour company. The transportation was via an open air truck with seats in the back. There were restraints that were not truly seat belts. After the El Limon trip, we waited for over 45 minutes for transportation without any explanation. Then were delayed again at the first hotel drop off. btw- It doesn't include lunch as stated by the Air Canada glossy flyer so we were pretty hungry by time we got back to our hotel.

A short drive from the airport was pleasant and had great ocean views. We had a private car, so we could stop and take some photos. Arrival at the resort was very easy, and check in was fast. Our room was ready, and we had a porter to carry bags and familiarize us with things. The room was clean and bright, had everything we needed (mini fridge with beer and soft drinks, a few bottles of rum and vodka). The buffet was well layed out, and had enough variety that we never got tired of it in two weeks. Our room had a private pool that we used every day, and was just fantastic. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and although spoke little English, were able to get you what you wanted, and you never had to worry about getting what you wanted. Bring small US Bill's for tips, as the front desk has limited cash for chang on hand. Tips are not required, but I find that they are very well appreciated, and the small cost to you, makes a big difference to them. Most employees are working at about five dollars a day. This is an adult's only resort, and is very quiet and relaxing. No beach vendors hassling you, and you always feel safe. Every aspect of this trip was excellent. I just can't say enough about how we loved it. The constant maintenance, and staff working so well, says a lot about the management. Everyone seemed to enjoy their job, and the whole atmosphere was very positive. Definitely à wonderful vacation.
