We stayed at OVA from March 3-10. We chose the privilege package with an oceanfront room. The view from our room was amazing overlooking the infinity pool and the ocean!! Just breathtaking!! Privileged included a private pool section, with a bar and restaurant for a la carte breakfast and lunch. Reservations could be made at the a la carte restaurants so you never had to wait in line as part of the Privilege package. Other upgrades included access to the privilege lounge that included premium alcohol, butler service free late check out, room service. A bottle of champagne or rum upon arrival or shortly thereafter. The food was very good with a nice variety that included lobster, steak, shrimp, calamari, hamburgers, fries, fajitas, pasta, rice just to name a few. There are two beaches, a smaller one and a larger one, both very nice and just a few minute walk to get to. Room was nice and clean. Third floor balcony. Shower and a tub, king size bed and a sitting area. Coffee maker and mini fridge which included water, beer and pop. The staff are so friendly and really work hard to make your vacation an enjoyable stay. A special thank you goes out to the following people: Yuri our Butler Maykel,Kevin,Ali our wonderful servers at the Privilege Pool Bar Katia our server at the Privilege Restaurant for breakfast and lunch Our sweet maid Damarys Alejandro the head of Animation/Recreation We will definitely be returning!!!!

Transferred here when our hotel closed due to the C Virus. The staff were rude and treated us like lepers. The food was absolutely disgraceful. Lived on omelettes for 4 days. Never been so glad to leave a hotel.

    Absolutely disgusting

We ended here for one night only because the hotel we were in closed and all remaining guests had to move because of the lack of people arriving in Cuba (Coronavirus). This is not a hotel we would have chosen! The room was appalling with uncomfortable bed, door that wouldn’t close properly to the bathroom so when one person went to the toilet the other person in the room could hear them! The air conditioner was either too cold or none existent! The final straw was a cockroach in the bedroom!

    Satisfactory

Stayed here March 10-16. Great service and friendly staff throughout. Bartenders were entertaining (Yos, Carlos, Yordanis, Laredo, all of them at pool bar and theatre bar were great)! When arriving at the hotel we checked into our room to find it very dirty, hair and lipstick in sheets (didn't look changed), garbages in room not emptied, dirt on furniture, floors dirty. Went to the front desk and they changed our room however all they had available were two small beds compared to a king which was requested. Our Westjet agent came the next day and talked to the front desk and we changed rooms a third time to get a king size bed, this room was cleaner then the first two. Mold in shower all over- we showered with shoes on. Towels were clean but had stains and were not changed often. The bed and pillows were very hard. We found a cockroach in our room one morning. The two beaches were very beautiful, water is warm and clear, beach is well maintained. There is helpful service for moving chairs at the beach. Pool is nice, water very cold however. Swim up bar service is great! Activities by the pool are fun and entertaining to watch. Nightly entertainment was corny but good, go to the Micheal Jackson show! This was our first time to Cuba and knowing that the food wasnt going to be great, we brought salt, pepper, ketchup and peanut butter which I would recommend doing. Food is bland and sometimes undercooked. We stuck to the Italian restaurant and the buffet for our stay. For the a la cartes you have to be in line before 6pm to get a spot if you are not privilege. Italian was okay. In the buffet we always stuck to the omelette station for breakfast and nothing else. For dinner we stuck to the pasta station. Snack bar by the beach had good lunch food however it is an open buffet that birds would be eating out of the dishes. Despite the room uncleanliness, the resort was fun and staff were friendly and helpful.

We did a combo holiday, Havana and Varadero at the Ocean Vista Azul. We were dropped off by the shuttle at 1230 but check in wasn’t until 4. We understand turn around however there is no towel service at the hotel, beach/pool towels are in your room- only! ( how difficult could it be to issue towels to be returned when you come back for your room and key?), so we could go by the pool or beach, without a towel. We asked about restaurants for lunch, were told they were by the pool. We were by the pool-wrong pool. We had to ask for a map. People beside us at check in were given a welcome drink, we also saw a couple getting a mini tour. As they tried to get us to upgrade, we were told if we did we would be treated like VIP’s, shouldn’t every guest be a VIP?? When we got to our room we had 2 hand towels for the shower, a leaky shower, soap but no other toiletries. We were on the second floor, be advised no elevators for older people, my husband lugged the luggage and we were woken the next morning at 0530 with someone bumping down their luggage from the 3rd floor. On our last day we found the schedule for activities ?? There are no reservations for the specialty restaurants, you line up at 6pm and hope to get a seat, unless you want to eat late. We did speak to our travel representative and he immediately got us bath towels, shampoo and an extra hour for checkout. The beach is not super close, the hotel is built on the coral. I would not recommend it for stroller dependent travel, beaches all require stairs or a sand decline. We did meet several excellent staff and they pour very freely at the lobby bar. Food was as expected, the buffet was ok, breads were the highlights. We won’t return here but wish everyone well.
