We decided to spend our honeymoon together here in Belize at the Belize Ocean Club. When we arrived after our 3 hour drive from Belize City, We were greated with fresh squeezed watermelon juice to drink while checking in. We have been very fortunate as a young couple to travel and spend our time in beautiful resorts, and were extremely excited to stay here. We had a beautiful ocean front room, with a huge balcony. This is classified as a 5 star resort. I'm not quite sure how. At best a 3 star. There was no welcoming packet, or daily event calendar. We slept our entire first day due to all the traveling. Next morning, we went to breakfast at the poolside bar. I was assured when booking there was gluten free options for my wife as she has Celiacs. It lists gluten free bread on the menu and she was very excited. When she ordered said gluten free bread, she was informed they had none. I made it a point to bring it to their attention that we were staying all week and to make sure that they got it. Fast forward to our last day here and there's still no gluten free bread for her. (After asking ever single morning here) I decided to ask for the manager. He said it was never brought to his attention. He was very apologetic but nothing was done. He told me to meet him later in the day and he would figure something out for her (too late at that point). When I looked for him, I never did find him later... They should definitely make everyone aware of the sand fleas on the resort. I personally have over 100 flea bites from just sitting at the poolside bar. They are absolutely horrible. We were both eaten alive. We went through two full cans of bug spray to avoid any more. (It's funny how they sell Benadryl anti-ich cream in their gift shop with quite a large stock) between the mosquitos and sand fleas we were both hesitant to spend much time outside on the beach or at the pool. Benadryl became my best friend for the itch. The rooms themselves are okay. Definitely need to reconsider how the shower is constructed. There's just one pane of glass, and the bathroom floor becomes quite the source of fresh shower water. The food on the resort was about double that of eating in Placencia. I definitely recommend renting a vehicle for the duration of your stay. Rumfish y vino, Wendy's, Barefoot were excellent choices for food. The resort was very inconsistent about the food as well. First time I ordered 2 eggs over medium, Toast, and Bacon. I received 1 slice of toast (which seems common in some places) and my eggs were No Bueno. The yolks were broken and hard. I didn't say anything and ate it. Bacon was fantastic. The next day I decided to try again. This time ordering 2 orders of toast. Somehow I ended up with 4 slices of bread this time, and eggs showed up the same way again. Highly recommend sticking with scrambled. French toast was good as well. My last day the bacon was terrible. So the restaurant was very inconsistent. The staff: This was easily the best part. We are here during their off season, so they were about all we had to talk to here. John the bartender was extremely friendly, We talked to Jason the pool tender, who was extremely nice. Lidya the waitress was super friendly as well! We loved the staff! The resort offers Guided tours - Highly recommend looking elsewhere. Pricing was extremely high compared to what we paid outside the resort. Trip advisor is your best friend. We did the ATM Cave where we were told it would be $240 a person. Through mayawalk it was $190 for us couple! We saved over 50% booking ourselves. Same with the cave tubing. We used butts up and got the early bird special (9-10am) for $35 a person, where we were quoted $120 a person through the resort. Overall I'm in the middle about this place. It's not what I expected booking a 5 star resort. I wanted to be thorough with my review to explain my concerns with this place.

I dont usually stay in the larger more touristy hotels but to my surprise, BOC didn't disappoint. The staff was above and beyond expectations at the pool, the housekeeping staff, front desk, and at the restaurant. They were also great about coordinating activities and excursions outside of BOC and throughout Placencia and Belize. We were also able to charter a private boat tour to Laughing Bird Caye (a white sand beach private reserve island) for snorkeling, sun, and droning on our own private beach! Continental breakfast was included but we still ordered a full breakfast each morning which was served at the pool cafe (you can also have room service at no additional charge). Dinner was mainly served on the lagoon side and they had a special "FULL MOON" dinner event on the beach with a sand fire pit, Garifuna performance of live music and traditional dancing made the night oh so special! My room was an Ocean view/front King Suite on the second floor (far south building) but next time I will get a ground floor room/suite so that I can walk out to the sand and sea right outside my patio. The building has been upgraded somewhat and the interior room decor as well although its still slightly dated (but for belize this was one of the more modern places I stayed at). The room included a full kitchen and dining area and living room- very comfortable condo-like home which is a great home-base for cooking and enjoying all the amenities of home!

We enjoyed our stay at the Belize Ocean Club. The hotel has suites for a reasonable price, which makes it a great option for families. We loved having two rooms and particularly loved the option to watch movies. There were a lot of choices. There are two sides to this hotel, the lagoon and the ocean side. Either one you choose is fine. Either way, you need to cross the street to do something. You need to go to the ocean side to go to the beach or hang at the pool. The pool and lunch close around 5-6. The ocean has a lot of seaweed so we mostly hung around the pool. The pool is so well kept. We loved the swim up bar and the staff at the Fyah Bar was friendly and enjoyable(Big John, Erisi, Walter, Imer, Alexander, Santi and all the others). The front office and dinner is on the lagoon side. The dinner is pretty good. We ate there a couple of times but I would highly recommend venturing out too. We didn’t rent a car so we used the shuttle that the hotel offered. The drivers were very friendly. George picked us up from the airport and was so friendly and fun from the minute he picked us up from the airport. We used the shuttle into town at the scheduled times and we also were able to use it to go to a dinner about a mile down the road. It is a nice benefit. Thanks for a great stay in Belize!

Belize Ocean Club was a WONDERFUL stay from start to finish. Front Desk Staff and the rest of the hotel staff were friendly ,courteous and attentive from the minute we walked through the door. We were given all the information we needed on the property. It’s a gem. The suites are very clean , spacious and up to date and the kitchen was fully equipped , they even had a stove. The property grounds are very well maintained. I loved being away from a big crowd after our day was done returning to a quiet quaint place. It’s in a great location and you have a great view of the beach . They have chairs and umbrellas on the beach and they provide beach towels. They best thing was enjoying the relaxing pool, cooling off in it, and ordering at the same time an awesome cocktail from Ariece and John. The best servers ever!!!. We will definitely come back to stay at the Belize Ocean Club.

The staff is what makes this place great! We had such excellent service the entire stay. Richard kindly helped us with all our luggage on arrival and departure with no hesitation. For beach activities we tried paddleboarding and kayaking for the first time ever and Damon was nice enough to give us tips and help us stay afloat. Dixie and Maribel waited on us during dinner, and chatted with us about events around the area. We went to the Spa for a pedicure and massage and Reina and Rose were excellent! Heraldo the bartender makes amazing drinks! The girl at the adventure desk helped us customize our own tour which we greatly appreciated, the tour guides Nestor and Jason with were so knowledgable and fun - we highly reccomend the adventure tours. We stayed lagoon side which is a short walk to the beach but we enjoyed our early morning walks for breakfast and the beautiful beach view. Next time we will for sure get a room with on the beach side! Highly reccomend Belize Ocean Club.
