Property is private residences building with a hotel. Bonvoy mobile checkin is NOT available but app key room access work. Check in desk is located on the 4th floor. I was not offered an upgrade. Instead was asked if I wanted to decline daily housekeeping for 500 points per night. Sorry Bonvoy, now that you devalued your SPG points - I doubt the equivalent of $5 in points is acceptable - more insulting. Our room, corner balcony king bed on the 14th floor was nice but not great. No door into the small bathroom which as a long single vanity, deep tub with curtains to use the shower and a small toilet closet with a frosted glass door. Bed was comfortable - but not your traditional king size, it was a bit smaller. The sliding doors to access the balcony require effort to open and close. The balcony had a small sofa and 2 uncushioned chairs along with a small table. Room lighting - I have no idea who planned the lights and switches for the room. There was only 1 bathroom light and since it’s open to the room, if you leave it on as a night light your whole room is also illuminated. During my 2nd night I did find 3 switches next to the bed on the side of the night table. Nespresso Machine - very tacky to have a sticker on it that says “Take It Away $150”! Are you kidding me? This isn’t the Holiday Inn! Access to the beach - walk across the street and an attendant (employed by the City) will setup chairs and umbrellas with towels. Water is available, courtesy of the hotel, but you are limited 1 per person, per day. Very disappointing, also, they isn’t any food or drink service on the beach. Bring a cooler or walk across the street back to the W or Hilton. Main Pool - level 5 facing the beach. Access from Tower 1 or 2 elevators or lobby elevator. You can also walk from the 4th floor and come up the stairs that’s inside the actual pool. Service is great from the very attentive pool staff. Good food options and variety of drinks as there is a full bar on the pool deck. Overall 3 Stars. Would not return in the future.

    Raw Chicken

I decided to stay at the W Hotel to celebrate my 30th birthday. I booked the “Marvelous” Two Bedroom Suite. At first glance the room looks nice but when you start to look at the details of the rooms are beat and run down. One of our showers didn’t even work properly and had mold. Not what you would expect to get after paying over $500 a night for a room. Now for the worst part, I ordered in room dining and ordered the chicken Cesar salad. The chicken comes chopped up on top of the bed of lettuce. As I was halfway eating through the chicken I noticed that I was eating raw undercooked chicken. I was in shock and completely grossed out. How does the kitchen after cutting the chicken not even notice it was raw and send it out. So careless! When I brought this up to management, I spoke with the Director of Guest Experience Raul Lopez and he said all he could do was refund my in room dining and file a report and winking at me. Seriously?! Like your establishment served me raw chicken and put me at risk of getting food poising on my birthday! I came here to have a nice relaxing stay and instead I got shocked and grossed out. Raul needs to do a better job of taking Guests seriously and attending to them. With his attitude, how does he even have a position of director of guest relations. It wasn’t until I spoke with the Welcome Desk Manager Rita, that I felt more attended to. She offered a $100 dollar hotel credit, which personally I still do not think makes up for such an experience but at least she tried and cared more than Raul. I am going to follow up with this issue, with a formal complaint to Marriot corporate and file a complaint with the local health department. Someone could of gotten seriously sick from this. Imagine if was an elderly person or child who ate that. All I can say, I have stayed at the W Fort Lauderdale many times and I am never coming back. It has gone down in quality in every sense of the word. Such a disappointment.

Great location to the beach. The staff was excellent. In looking for something to do with the grandkids the staff suggested a trip to the everglades to see alligators. Good tour for 4. 2 adults and 2 kids $216.00 We were picked up at the hotel and returned 3.5 hours later. Boat trip of 1 hour in length and a short show by 1 of The Gator Boys of TV fame. Weather was great mid 80's every day.

We had such a great time here! The room was gorgeous, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The Living Room area by the front desk is a cool place to hang out... we lounged around and played giant connect four and jenga. Literally on the beach...Jake who helped us with our beach chairs and umbrella was funny and attentive. The breakfast at El Vez Sunday morning was delicuous! The only complaint was that all their overhead AC vents dripped water onto the below seats. Would definitely return!
