Floatie ridiculousness
Nadel M on Mar 13, 2024
Hotel condo itself was great. This only got two stars, because we specifically picked this hotel because of the pool, water slides and lazy river. Nothing at pool side available for floating down lazy river. When I went into the lobby, they did have but charged you to rent it. A simple pool noodle was $5 to rent! So I walked across to get my kids two pool floaties, and as I’m blowing them up, they came and said we were not allowed to use them. What an absolute rip off. So if you do want to purchase your own instead of rent, make sure you buy a pool noodle. I had purchased just two small little donut tubes, nothing huge. Not sure why we can’t use them.
Disappointed

The kitchen had mismatched silverware, no potholders, soap, or utensils and everything sorely lacking. For a one week stay 2 packs of coffee were supplied but they would then sell us more. Laundry had no soap but they sold us some. We had an unexpected $30/day fee for use of pool, luggage storage, misc., plus a required "Damage Protection" expense. The resulting total was $59/ day in extra charges. The good news is that the staff was excellent and the pool is a nice clever design. In summary we'll stay somewhere else next visit.
Overall good experience

Every issue that we had the resort resolved quickly always asking to enter our room if we weren't there. The pool is cold, not heated and heavily chlorinated. We were there for 10 days. The restaurant is only open late in afternoon and not on Mondays not sure if other days as that was the one day we wanted to go. Don't plan on swimming at the beach the waves and current are brutal. The property exterior is maintained well always working on the plants. Safeway is a quick walk across the street which was very helpful. We went to use the concierge to book excursions but she had just come back and couldn't get into system. We ended up booking ourselves
Convenience and amenities- adventure launching pad

Great week in Waipouli. We escaped the snowy mainland for a week. We were able to hike the Napali coast, explore many beaches, golf, ride bikes and kayak. WBR is so central to everything on Kauai. We love to come back and chill in the pools here after a day of adventure. The unit we stayed in was clean and well equipped.
Average resort with lots of room for improvement

We stayed in H204 for a week. We had high hopes for our family of five. We typically prefer condo resorts, where we have the option to cook if wanted, a restaurant on site, a pool, and access to resort amenities. This seemed to fit the list on paper. As many people have reviewed, the pool is not warm. Even with temps in the high 70s all week, it just didn’t feel good to hang out in the pool. My kids did, because they are kids, but my husband and I spent most of our time on the sidelines or in the hot tub after. That wasn’t what we were hoping for. The beach towel situation is odd. They strictly monitor your towel usage. In two different days there, they did not have enough towels the following day to give us fresh ones, so we had to wash our own in the room - or wait for them to dry. That becomes a greater issue when your dryer doesn’t work properly. I had to restart the dryer over a dozen times to make progress to get one load dry. When I contacted our mgmt company, they sent maintenance and they told me I had my heat on too low. This did not solve the problem. The dryer or heating element simply are not working properly. There is an older male employee who monitors the pool. He yelled at my kids numerous times for going down the slides the wrong way. He also came and told us we couldn’t bring our cooler inside the gates - while plenty of people had soft coolers with them. Our unit was okay, but is need of some love - a dresser in the second bedroom where the drawers close, some comfortable sitting furniture in the family room, some kitchen cookware to make cooking more pleasant. It has all of the basics, but not cut out for elaborate cooking. The beds aren’t very comfortable either. The positives - because there are some - are by far the location and view, the easy access to the grocery store, access to the north or south of the island, a lovely beach. Oasis restaurant is wonderful as well. Overall, this is is an underwhelming place to stay. It appears to have it all on the surface, yet if you stay there you will understand that some things are missing. Fortunately we had many activities planned for the week, so this served as a nice home - base but not somewhere we wanted to spend too much time.
