    Missing the Butler

    The big difference at this resort is the quiet. If you want peace and quiet at a small resort this is the place. Biggest complaint the reservation promised a private butler service. Property said they no longer do that. No onsite entertainment nightly (which we knew not a complaint) other than a lobby musician. The lobby musicians were very good. Star of the property is bartender Mellissa. She would come out and find you when not busy.

    They WOWed Us and It won’t ever be Topped!

    Our trip was amazing thanks to Butler Nicholas and Arlene. It was my boyfriends birthday and I wanted to do something special. Both Arlene and Butler Nicholas knew once they met him he wasn’t the “dinner on the water” type of guy. They asked me what his interests were and I told him he loves soccer! They knew what to do and took care of the rest. I was just responsible for getting him off the property so they could prepare the room! He researched his favorite sports team logo, dyed the rice a few days before, and designed it on the bed with wine and desert! When we returned from our day trip and he walked in the room he was in shock!!! And loved it more than anything! It was the best gift ever and I won the best girlfriend award! ;) Completely unexpected, one day, Arlene had the chef prepare food for us independent of the menu for lunch just because. She also surprised us with a few upgrades throughout our stay!! I went diving one morning and didn’t see an octopus which I was dying to see. One of the men at the recreation desk went and found one for me... I felt bad since it became his dinner... but it was pretty cool he went out of his way to find one! We felt like a million bucks! We felt special! I’m not sure a resort could ever top how they took care of us or that birthday gift. The resort is peaceful. Not large property with loud visitors. The property is beautiful. The welcome rum is STRONG! The breakfast and dinner were our favorite. Enjoy the jerk shack sitting by the beach on the swing. If you are not looking for pretentious, up for a relaxing and peaceful time... this is it!! Would definitely stay here again!!

    Staff ….The wait/bar staff at this hotel are phenomenal! Patrice at the pool bar is a star!!! Nicar is also extremely friendly and helpful. And a big shout out to Taneshia at the lobby bar!! The property is beautiful and well maintained although the pool maintenance needs some work. Pools were not vacuumed daily and one day there was so much chlorine put in that our bathing suits were damaged. Rooms … The room cleaning staff don't do any little extras like put throw cushions back on the bed or towel animals, flowers etc. which we get everywhere else in the Caribbean. They don't tidy up the counters or move things which implies our counters were not being wiped down daily. The floors were dirty and towels were not always replaced. Dont' ask the turn down service to come back in a few minutes because they don't! The paint on our window sill was peeling and there were cracks in the ceiling. The swim up rooms had absolutely no privacy at all. The restaurants … they advertise 3 dining options but in fact you only have one or two at night. The tapas is open but they wouldn't seat us in the dining room one night as they had 4 tables already. Four!!! We were given the option of sitting at the bar tucked away from other people but we turned it down. Jerky Joe's is amazing. The main restaurant is good. The menu is not large so it was not always easy to pick an entrée. Room service is very slow. Thank goodness for the UVC ladies, Michelle and Arlene. When we some of our issues with them, they took steps and we saw them implemented. Not everything but a few things. General … the hotel is located about 10 minutes from the airport which means you hear planes all day. It is also on a main road so you hear traffic day and night. The fan on the a/c is extremely loud and your can't turn it off. It makes the same noise whether on 1 or 4. It is probably so that you don't hear the traffic. If Zoetry is being promoted as a luxurious boutique better than Secrets, it needs to work a lot harder to get there. I wish I could say we would be back ...

    Very big disappointment, Resort would not reply to our feedback

    Below is a copy of the feedback we sent to the resort (through their survery and also to their GM via our travel agent)... more or less three months later and we have never heard a word back from anyone at Zoetry Montego Bay. ... Having been in a senior resort operations role for the past 25 years, I recognize that this is a lengthy submission... Check In and Check Out: - only occasion wherein the service was lacking or indifferent . - at both check in and checkout the agent working with us took a number of phone calls as they were also working as receptionist - have never experienced this in years of travel. Very off-putting. Check out staff also forgot to give us a checkout slip so our departure was delayed as security would not let us leave so we had to return and wait for a slip to be issued… even tho we had paid our outstanding bill and staff were more than aware we were departing. State of room: - at check-in ... bobby pin on shower floor, phone cord and broken pepper shaker on bedroom floor. - hand-held shower head attachment was broken and therefore unusable for entire stay. Hose was in state of disrepair - shower drain did not function properly - did not drain fast enough and we were forced to shower while standing in dirty water both the hand held and the drain issues were raised with staff, but not repaired. - every time rooms above flushed a toilet or ran water we heard bubbling in the drains of our sinks. - guest room itself was very comfortable State of property: - Plaster and paint pealing off of building parapets - railings on Pollo balcony rusted through (is this even safe?) - garbage on Pollo deck for at least 3 days - fire pit by pool in disrepair and unsafe - also never used - 70% of bollard lights on pier broken and not functioning - light on pier gazebo hanging by raw wires - pier gazebo posts and pier planks littered with staples and remnants of paper from what was likely some kind of signage. - pool umbrellas were tattered and frayed… my wife was whipped in the face by one that was hanging loose in the wind - dirty glasses from prior night under pier gazebo during morning yoga Restaurants: - advertised as 3 restaurants, but one was closed every night - dress code for men was not on web site (if it is/was we were unable to locate it, we looked hard) - acquiesced to this rule as we assumed that we missed it in our research - would never have knowingly booked a Caribbean vacation at a resort where I was expected to wear closed toed shoes and long pants to dinner. - no dress code for women makes no sense - lady near to us wore $2 flip flops, cut-off sweat pants and basic tank top while dining - menus did not live up to the promoted ‘wellness' factor - being on a very strict diet for multiple sclerosis I was depending on, and paying for, this element. For example the breakfast smoothie with fruit and vegetables was so sweet we could not drink it, and it did not seem to be made from many actual fresh fruits or vegetables (they were not discernible if they were used) - food presentation was excellent - wicker chandelier in the main dining area was brilliant False advertising - no doubt the greatest shortfall of your property... - your website has obviously been photo-shopped (below shows google earth shot compared to your website image). ...main road is hidden by fake trees - reality was, it was the noisiest resort we have ever stayed at… the noise of motorcycles and engine-retarding brakes was disruptive at all times of the day - actual deteriorating sea wall is masked (on the web site) by a naturally tapered beach up to jerk chicken bbq… this is the website photo… we do not have a comparison as we did not realize this deception until we returned home - actual beach water was the worst we have experienced and not used by a single guest during our stay. conversely the website images show pristine Caribbean waters. - Soul Juice Bar - advertised but non-existent! Disposition of, and service from, employees -fantastic! hugely impressive, top marks - they were the main reason we were able to make the most of our time there

    Unfriendly greeting, no bellman, had to bring in our own luggage. Concierge, when he finally appeared, assured us he would make our stay special; never heard another word from him. Too many other negatives to list.
