Upon arrival at Montego Bay we were kicking ourselves for not booking the Club Mobay lounge access to move through immigration quicker as the queues and lines of passengers for standard immigration were huge. We were extremely tired after 9 hour 30 min flight from London and just wanted to get to the hotel as soon as possible. We did book for the return leg which is highly recommended. After a 1 hour 30 min drive from Montego Bay to CSS due to traffic we were exhausted and couldn't wait to arrive at the hotel. On arrival we were greeted by the receptionist who gave us a glass of champagne and a cold flannel, then taken to our room. We had paid for an upgraded Ocean View Suite as part of our package with TUI. We were allocated to block F which was right next to the reception area. We were really underwhelmed and a bit upset with how poor the room was. The blocks closest to main reception are older than the rest of the hotel and in dire need of updating. Although the rooms are very big and do offer somewhat of an ocean view, it's really not befitting for a 5* hotel. We actually saw a cockroach in the living room before heading to bed so were really upset and worried we had made the wrong choice of hotel for our honeymoon. As honeymooners, we were expecting to be given flowers, champagne or even a congratulatory card but there wasn't anything in the room...it was all a bit unwelcoming. The following day, I then had to request from Guest Services a new room, and also for a bottle of champagne to be delivered to the room. I shouldn't really have had to ask for it, the hotel should be well equipped in advance of honeymooners arriving. We were offered a couples massage for 25 mins and paid extra to have a longer massage. We were eventually given the option to move to block D which is in the middle of the resort nestled on a cliff. The room was more up to date and offered a nice view over the sea. Things did get better after this, and the hotel has plenty of other positives which led to a really great trip for us. We were fortunate to be in Jamaica for New Year's Eve which was incredible. It was celebrated outside on the lawn, next to the beach. The food was excellent and plenty of champagne flowing. The entertainment was amazing, the CSS Team have so much energy! They continuously got up to dance, sing and ensure that the guests had a great time. We also saw three bonfires being lit on the beach at midnight which was great. Food - We cannot fault the food at CSS. There was so much variety and not all restaurants were buffets which was good, there are A La Carte options which my wife preferred. You certainly won't ever go hungry, there is so much on offer. On two nights of the week the hotel puts on an outdoor dinner which all guests attend and are seated on tables together. This was a different experience to what we have been used to on previous holidays but allowed us to meet and chat to other guests which was nice. Drinks - It was amazing to know that you could order champagne whenever you liked throughout the entire trip, even at breakfast. We loved the Martini bar, it is in a really nice setting and the cocktails were delicious. They certainly don't hold back on the alcohol measures which led to a few sore heads the following morning - not complaining! I also liked the room service ordering system. You place your orders the day before for items outside the default minibar items and they got delivered. To my surprise an entire bottle of gin turned up and this was included in the all-inclusive package. Room Service - we had room service twice and both times were great. We recommend having a pizza while you are there, it's yummy! The rooms were immaculately cleaned and the staff are very attentive, working right up until the turn down service late at night. Trips - we paid for extra excursions which included the Irie Blue Hole, Mystic Mountain, the Bob Marley 9 Mile Tour, a fishing trip, the Worthy Park Estate Rum Tour. We would highly recommend all of these tours, they were great. We took advantage of visiting the other Couples hotel through the inclusive Trading Places trip. If you want one tip - don't waste your time unless you really want to be sure you made the right choice choosing CSS. It's not that it wasn't nice - it's just a very different hotel to CSS and felt more like a hotel on the Costa Del Sol (no offence to Spain). Hotel Grounds - the resort is beautifully landscaped and features many hidden nooks and crannies so you can really get lost. We spent most of our time at the main beach and it was quiet enough to relax and not feel crammed onto one strip. It's a private beach so you don't have to worry about hawkers. The beach bar situated next to the beach is a great spot for lunch or a quick drink. The resort has another beach (Sunset Beach) which is a nude beach until the evening. We personally didn't visit in the nude hours but if that floats your boat, it looked quite popular! Water sports, scuba diving, snorkelling, and glass bottom boats are available from the main beach - all free. CSS prides itself on return visits and they even have a shrine where people paint a stone with their name and date of visit. We left feeling relaxed and comfortable we made the right choice coming to Jamaica & CSS. However, I don't think we'd return and would opt to visit a different resort.

Sans Souci is a small resort with a laid back atmosphere, it is also built into a mountain side. The resort was very nice and clean. Only thing is there are a lot of steps to climb. Quality of food was only average. Entertainment was not much for my taste, would have loved to have more Jamaican music and entertainment. Beach was nice and clean. The "au natural" beach gets the run off of the river adjacent to the property, so water in the ocean is very cold. Dunn's River Falls excursion is included with stay which is a plus. Average age group at this resort seems to be 50's-60's. We were disappointed because the Resort does not have much of the Jamaican feel. If you're looking for more of the Jamaican feel and nightlife you may want to stay in the Negril area. Overall this is still a very nice resort, just no night life, very little entertainment. And LOTS of steps!

The food was wonderful and the service was great. All the staff was friendly and helpful. My wife says that Couples resorts are all she wants to stay in in the future. I wasn't able to go to the nude beach because my wife wouldn't go with me which is a requirement but the normal beach is great too.

The resort exceeded my expectations. I know they are going to be doing renovations and was apprehensive. The room was a basic room with no bells and whistles but very clean and well stocked mini bar. We were placed in E (Evergreen) and requested D or G but resort was full capacity. We were right next to the martini bar. If we return we would want G for the views and solitude. If mobility is an issue you would need A and B. D had some good views as wells. I am very anxious to see the renovations. This had the old caribbean feel like you see in movies. The food was not a huge selection but top quality and very healthy. Not your typical all-inclusive and seasoned well and fresh. Breakfast omelets with jerk sauce were the excellent. Cassanova you must wear closed toe shoes and the most upscale of the dining. Bella Vista was on the water by candlelight at night and no reservations but wonderful ambiance. The other restaurant I anticipated to be my least favorite(breakfast and lunch buffet held here) turned out to be our favorite. Fresh catch of the day and the soup was incredible. Portions are smaller so you can enjoy each tasting from the courses. Beaches. Sunset(natural) beach was the most crowded. A huge group was there and 70% of the guest were there during the day. The textile beach was not as crowded. Everyone was beyond friendly from guest and employees and with the size it made it feel home and relaxing. The vibe was incredible and you could relax. We tried snorkeling and the glass bottom boat. We enjoyed both and Dunns falls. The gym is well equipped but busiest one I have ever seen at the resort. To get access and space to all the equipment we had to hit it by 7 am and enjoyed taking yoga in the pavilion. Very unique experience. The jogging path was small...3 loops to get a mile and no wind but you can get miles in if needed. The hot tub but the gym was heated and very tranquil as you over look the ocean taking in the views The grounds were mature and lush and pictures can not do it justice. I have been to 15 different all-inclusive and strongly considering this as a repeat resort or this chain. It truly feels like you are home and loved. Customer service, food and vibe was the best experience we have had. But if you are looking for a crazy party this is not the place for you. I would say average ages was 45-65.
