This was a really great romantic getaway. We have visited Be Live Collection in Puerto Plata previously and we really liked that hotel so figured this would be equally as good. We had VIP amenities included in our package but we would have upgraded even if we hadn't. The VIP gave us access to different lounges, premium alcohol, priority reservations at the al a carte restaurants, and separate beach area with a beach bar. Our wristbands designated that we were VIP so there were no problems getting access. As a side note, I don't know what the person was talking about who said they re-use wristbands. They have a bead that tightens them to fit each guest and they are nearly impossible to remove without cutting them off. With our VIP status we had a separate check-in area where we were able to sit and have a cocktail while the representatives got everything taken care of. Once we got checked in our "butler" Felix took us to our room. As others have mentioned there are not currently any working elevators so we did have to lug our bags up the stairs. After dropping our bags off we went and met with our Amstar rep about excursions, and when we came back we realized our A/C was not working and the temperature had actually gotten hotter even though it was set to the lowest temp. This was the only problem we had throughout our 7 day stay and the front desk was quick to get us a new room, which was even a little bit of an upgrade. We enjoyed our room with a balcony overlooking the lazy river pool. The beds were on the firm side but I like mine like that way. Housekeeping came in every day and restocked the mini fridge and brought fresh towels. On day 2 I did tip our maid and request more water and beer and after that I usually got extra water but still only the 2 standard Coors light mini cans. As for food; our VIP access gave us unlimited a la carte reservations (with the exception of the first day) so Felix booked us for a different restaurant each night. Although, we did end up skipping the Mexican night due to excursion and changed the Lobster house to a 2nd night at the Japanese restaurant. All of the restaurants were decent, and better than the buffet, but the Japanese was the best because we got to sit at the hibachi for a "cooking lesson" and they cooked everything in front of us. For lunch we usually went to the Marketplace buffet, and everything we chose was good, but pretty standard buffet food that is mass produced. The pastries and baked goods were actually above average for a buffet, though. We were a little disappointed with the Burger restaurant. It was usually busy and they rarely had the full menu. My boyfriend always asked for his burger plain and they always pulled it right off the warmer and gave it to him as-is. The beach area was very nice and we found it to be clean and well maintained, even during the rainy season. We did see some issues with people saving cabana's, although most days the people were using them; they would just get there early and camp-out all day. There was a guy walking around and keeping track of empty beds and would offer it up to other guests if they saw somebody was gone for an extended periods. The VIP beach area also had servers come around taking drink and food orders and were usually pretty attentive. On the occasions I did have to go to the bar the service was good. I have to give a shout out to Branddy who always seemed to remember me and kept bringing me "Dominican water" aka Presidente beers. If you sat close to the rope by the beach there were vendors that would walk around and try to get your attention, but if you sit closer to the hotel end they won't bother you because they are not allowed past the ropes. Drinks were typically pretty good. I usually drank beer and you can't really mess that up; it was even nice and cold. My boyfriend was drinking vodka drinks and most of the time was able to get premium alcohol (Absolut or Stoli). There was also top-shelf alcohols (i.e. Grey Goose) that were available for additional $$$. The house wine and champagne were tolerable for a glass or two during meals but not great. You did have the option to purchase an upgraded bottle of wine, but we chose not to. Tipping is not required and I didn't notice any difference in service for those who did and those who did not, but I highly encourage you to tip. These people work for very minimal wages and they use these tips to support themselves. The nightly entertainment was usually pretty good. For good seats be sure to get there early. There was usually a dance party at the start of the entertainment and they would get the guests out there dancing the local dance (which is taught during dance lessons during the day). There was also activities by the pool each afternoon which were fun. The foam party was definitely a lot of fun. The entertainment staff is so full of energy and fun to watch. The gym was decent for a hotel gym, although it was quite a walk from the adult side of the hotel. It was also kinda hard to find at first because it is on the very edge of the hotel and sort of in the back parking lot. There were several treadmills, a couple of machines, a couple benches and barbells, and also dumbbells, steps and medicine balls. In addition they did have bottled water and towels available. We did decide to do the Coco Bongo excursion and I highly recommend it. It a nighttime excursion so be sure you get a nap during the day. (Reviewed separate). Yes, you will see the timeshare people wandering around. Having done numerous all-inclusives I have gotten pretty good at avoiding them. At this hotel they are wearing either tan or pink shirts and hang out near the lobby. I only got caught by one once when I was headed to the gym in the morning and the lobby area was pretty deserted, but after a couple minutes of small talk I was able to convince him I would talk to my boyfriend about it. I will admit we had a little bit of an issue with check out but it was very minor. We assumed that we just were to check out in the front lobby where we checked in, but that was not the case. When we got to the lobby for our transportation we were told we needed to go back to the VIP lounge for check out. Again, not a big deal, but we were running late for our shuttle back to the airport so they had to wait on us. It just would have been nice to know ahead of time. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Punta Cana, as well as other Be Live Collection resorts.

We are on our last day here, and don’t want it to end! This resort is everything we expected and more. The rooms are always clean and well stocked. The grounds are immaculate. The staff is always happy and helpful. Showtime was fantastic! BIG SHOUTOUT to NICOLAS at the pool bar by building 14! This guy is the best bartender there is! He remembers your drinks, and hand delivers to you in the pool! You seriously cannot ask for more! If the opportunity presents itself for us to take another vacation, we will definitely consider coming back!

The resort and staff members were amazing. Stacey supervisor of the adult section would not stop until an issue was perfected to the guests satisfaction. Feed the butler would check in every morning directly with me or by text to see if my previous day met my expectations he even checked in on me the next day arriving home to see if my flight went okay but one staff member who from the moment I stepped foot onto the resort the first day knew the meaning of never judge a book by its cover and that first impressions meant everything... Albania Jimenez from the front desk of the main lobby knew how to give the "wow factor" not only upon arrival but throughout the entire vacation. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING !!! Thank to all the staff from Be Live Collections Punta Cana and especially Feed Fed Fefe, Stacey and Albania

I am currently writing this review while in same hotel. Rooms are smelly old and not at all well maintained. I was at barcello bavaro last year and it's amazing and this hotel looks old and the security will start selling you time share things as you arrive. Vendors everywhere selling things day and night. Please don't go for the images and spend your money in good resort.
