Pictures would not do this resort justice! Breath taking views, friendly and cheerful staff, and amazing customer service! Staling and Daniel went over and beyond to make my husbands surprise birthday a birthday we will remember for a lifetime! We will definitely be back! Highly recommend! We were told by another guest next time to be sure to request a beach view room on 3rd or 4th floor to get the best view!

    Perfect Vacation!

Due to all the bad press I’ve been seeing about the DR lately, I spent quite a few nights tossing and turning with thoughts about whether we should go or cancel this trip. Just as we decide to stay the course and visit anyway, we get wind that hurricane Dorian is heading straight for the island. Of course, I spent even more time now monitoring the track of that storm. Thankfully it changed course and avoided the island all together. We took a big gamble by not switching dates on our airfare...and it paid off big time! We went during off season (the first week of September) and combined with the potential hurricane, the resort was incredibly quiet. Our first couple dinners had 1-2 other couples in the restaurants...even the buffet. There were maybe 10 couples that I saw around each day. I’m in no way exaggerating. The staff outnumbered the guests by far! The staff is incredible! Despite the fact that they work crazy long hours, they were always happy to assist you with whatever you needed. We never once opened a door, while walking into and out of the restaurants/ buffet. That’s freaking service! The butlers were always ready to help, if you needed it. Venerise (one of our butlers) would stop and say hi or ask if we needed anything, whenever she saw us. She set up all of our dinner reservations with no problem. She was great! Of all of the staff, I don’t think anyone works harder than the hospitality team. Our room was cleaned every single day...including freshly washed floors. The bed was made twice a day (we tend to go back for a while before dinner) and the towel animals /art was awesome. I, unfortunately, caught a cold while we were there (thank you, husband) and the hospitality team noticed the abundance of tissues being used so they left me several boxes. It was a nice & thoughtful touch and it meant a lot to me. I don’t know their names but I’m giving a huge shout out to those ladies. They were amazing! Now onto the pool...it’s gorgeous. I’m sure you’ve looked up the pics for this hotel already and it’s not even remotely deceiving. The pool is actually 3 pools. One curvy pool (which I consider the main pool) had a pool bar. There was another, smaller curry pool that was right next to the main one but didn’t connect to it. The last pool was a standard rectangular shape pool. That one was mostly used for swim aerobics and pool games. All of the pools were fairly shallow (the only drawback for me). I prefer a pool to have at least one deep point but I understand that drunk people don’t swim well so it would be an insurance nightmare. The pool bar staff were great. Try a coco loco (if you like the taste of coconut). As for the chairs around the pool.. They were plentiful. In fact, my hubs and I laid on the same pool-side bed every single day. The beach is gorgeous! We are pool people so we didn’t swim at the beach but it was impeccably maintained. I spoke to another couple that said there was seaweed (obviously) but once you swam past it, the water was perfect. It’s been a while since we’ve stayed somewhere with a walkable beach so we spent one morning strolling down the sand. We passed a couple other resorts (much busier) and it was easy to see the difference in quality between the Iberostar Grand and the other resorts. If you like to walk the beach, go left. The right side has what looks to be local shops right on the beach (tourist trap). The playmakers were fun but not too pushy. I recommend trying archery. We had a great time with that. Also, pool bingo seemed pretty popular (which probably had something to do with it being played at the pool bar). ;). Shout out to Mini-Me and Armando. They were awesome! The food here is amazing. We tried most of the restaurants and had the buffet a couple times. Our favorite, by far, was the Italian restaurant. You have to try the lasagna...Yum!! The buffet has so many different options and all of them are delicious. I’m a bit of a picky eater and I had no problem finding food I’d like. The deserts, while delicious, were also tiny works of art. It was almost a shame to eat them...almost. The only thing I’d recommend, to the resort, is investing in a soft serve ice cream machine. They have one at Sandals in Jamaica and it’s so awesome to be able to walk up and snag myself a quick cone of vanilla soft serve. Seriously, think about it management team. :) Overall, we had an amazing trip. It was our first time in Punta Cana and not once did we feel unsafe. It was perfect! I can’t wait to go back! If I can leave you with one bit of advice. Go, have fun, and wear lots of sunscreen! :)

We stayed at this Adults-Only resort in the last week of August. I have to say we were a bit apprehensive in the lead up to our trip due to all the negative press and attempted to change for a different destination, however we went ahead. Literally from the moment we stepped foot on this resort our needs where taken care of (we forgot about the negatives), we were greeted with welcome drinks a nice way to cool down from the blazing heat. We were lucky to have consistent sun throughout our stay (32deg each day) although the forecast mentioned possibility of hurricane... Our Ocean View suite was very clean, the resort itself was impeccable, literally you could see staff working hard from the break of dawn to ensure everything was meticulously placed. As we were celebrating our 5th anniversary and husbands birthday, our butler Louis and Jhimmy surprised us with champagne and dessert on both nights and ran the bath with rose petals which was a nice touch. The cleaners were all nice and polite, they offered a turn down service each night. They had a wide spread for breakfast, literally everything you could think of, an omelette station which happens to be our go-to... Again for lunch they had a barbecue by the pool with delicious paella and a variety of food to choose from. We tried 4 of 5 restaurants for dinner and found the Japanese to be our favourite followed by the Surf and Turf. All the waiters were friendly and very accommodating to people’s needs. We participated in a few activities with Mini-mi and his colleagues which was fun. At the time we visited, the resort was under capacity, it felt very quiet which we loved- we didn’t have to wake up to reserve sun beds. The beach was beautiful, we didn’t participate in the evening activities, we were stuffed each night and due to the 5 hour difference our sleeping pattern was all over the place. The massage was 10/10, and golf was a nice touch. The gym and the Sauna facilities was adequate however you have the choice to use the Dominican hotel facilities which is bigger and had various classes- we participated in Spin, Pilates, 1:1 Kick boxing and Aqua spin with Antonio (all really good). We did an excursion to Scape park which was fun, and you have the option for an additional fee to board the private yacht. There are so many positives to highlight about this establishment. The staff went over and beyond, they were extremely helpful. You won’t be disappointed!

Absolutely Glorious, Can't wait to return.

Mere words and photos cannot begin to describe how wonderful my wife and my five night stay was at this magnificent resort. From the moment you arrive until the time you leave, the staff works tirelessly to not just provide for your needs and desires, they make you feel like royalty. Within two days, most of the staff knew our names, knew what we liked to drink, knew where we liked to sit in the buffets, and would do all they could to anticipate any of our wishes without our asking. I have been to fairly opulent places, but never to this degree and never even coming close to this level of personal care and attention. Since we went in September, there were only a few handfuls of couples at this adult-only retreat. The wait staff must have outnumbered the guests three to one. This is a peaceful, relaxing stay… not the frat-boy, Spring Break party HQ of other resorts. This has a refined, relaxed, and definitively continental Europe feel to it, but with the warmth and generosity of the Dominican staff. My wife and I will never forget their kindness and constant smiles. A special thanks to our trio of butlers who made dining reservations for us and provided unasked-for personal touches in the room while we were out. Jimmy, Ayendi (Boom Boom), and Junior were great. Thanks to our waiters Franklin, Samuel, and a host of others whose names escape me. Thanks to the staff that work behind the scene, maintaining the luxurious grounds. Lastly, much thanks to Carlos, the tireless pool waiter who works his tail off all day long under the hot sun bringing drinks to the guests at the pool and the beach. He is a real treasure and someone who takes great pride in his work. We could have stayed there forever.

We went to a wedding at a family friendly resort in Punta Cana and decided to stay 4 extra days at an adults only resort when we left the first one. We chose the Iberostar Grand Bavaro on the advice of a friend. Although she said the Iberostar is perfect in every way, it still exceeded our expectations. Upon arrival, we were impressed with the elegance and old world style. We felt like we were in Spain. The gorgeous marble floors, stunning artwork and beautiful light fixtures left a lasting first impression. We were greeted at the desk by Leidy who is a wonderful ambassador for Iberostar. She is kind and friendly and we sparked an instant rapport making us feel welcome and happy to be there. We were escorted to our luxurious room where we met our butler Fermin. He was incredible and did so much for us in a non obtrusive way. Our room was beautifully decorated for our anniversary and Fermin added lots of special touches to help us celebrate. Luis was also excellent but we dealt mostly with Fermin. Most of the staff knew our names within a day and greeted us all over the resort and made sure we had everything we needed. The entertainment staff offers many activities and always encouraged everyone to participate. There's yoga, water spin class, water aerobics, dance lessons, bingo...etc. We participated in a lot of the activities and want to give a shout out to Maria, Edison and Hot Chocolate who felt like friends by the end of our stay. The food is the best we have had at an all inclusive. We eat out a lot and live in New York and would say that the food rivals any restaurant in NYC. Every entree was delectable and the presentation on appetizers, entrees and desserts was unique and impressive. The service was impeccable, they were attentive and very professional. Our favorites were Elieser in the Italian restaurant, Leudy at the pool restaurant, Chavely, Merary and Jose at the Galleon and Victor at La Perla. Don't miss the paella in the afternoon at the buffet near the swim up bar. I lived in Spain and can vouch that it is authentic Spanish paella. We enjoyed the shows at night and the dance instructors from the daytime classes were available to dance with guests. There is a karaoke bar on the ship docked in the lake at the center of the resort. We did not stay up late enough to take advantage of that but we got on the ship to take a look and it seemed like fun. We never had a problem getting lounges by the beach or the pool and we met very interesting people from all over the world. We have nothing but accolades for the Iberostar Grand, we are anxious to explore their other resorts but will definitely come back to this one.
