A Mixed Bag Demographic

MDDdolphin (Las Vegas, Nevada) on Apr 13, 2024

We generally choose adult only all inclusives because we find the vibe to be substantially more relaxed and sophisticated. Because of its reputation for great food, however, we decided to give GV a try. Along with Leblanc, Secrets and Excellence, GV is among the best. But our feeling about adult only properties remains intact. GV is a very large resort made up of three hotels, each with its own lobby. Ambassador (for families) and Grand Class for adults are in the main building near the beach and largest pool complex. Zen, which also houses the spa and its own pool is more than a mile away inland surrounded by jungle. It is not walkable, but there is a 24 hour shuttle service that is very reliable and fast. The entire property is beautiful and immaculately manicured. Rooms are modern, well appointed and clean. Butler service is provided, but there is a communication disconnect between the butlers and the house keeping staff. The result was no turn down service or ice on three nights of our week. We opted to hang out at the adults only pool at Grand Class. Completely different vibe than the main pool family area. Nice touches like sunglasses cleanings and treats. Pool waiter service was very friendly and attentive, although we must note that on at least two occasions the pool concierges ignored us upon arrival, even as we looked right at them. We would have appreciated some live music. The beach is protected by a seaweed screen and wave barriers. We suggest walking around the point to the left as you face the ocean, to access Mayakoba beach. Miles of sugar sand and clear blue water with few people. Pools are heated in the winter. Restaurants are spread between the hotels, with Chaka at Zen, and others in the main building. Only the French and Cucina de Autor are kid free, so no screaming, crying or running around. The food at all restaurants was very good but, truth be told, offerings at the kid friendly restaurants was somewhat pedestrian. The truly great meals were at Cucina and Chaka with chef Carlos and waiters Miguel and Martha. Chaka menu is regional Mexican; creative, tasty and unexpectedly good. Cucina de Autor is a true gourmet experience, as good as anything here in Vegas. Chef Nahum Velasco, who is also sous chef de hotel, is a talented culinary artist, inviting you to put yourself in his hands for a journey of taste and creativity. If you are able to wrangle a second visit, the menu will be different than the first. We also enjoyed the work of Sen Lei chef Jonathan and waiters Ismael and Christian. We usually enjoy breakfast buffets for the variety, but here the kids made for a much noisier and harried experience. We found it curious that some really good evening musicians were located in the Ambassador garden area, with nobody in attendance. One thing to note. If you book through a third party, you will not receive credit in the loyalty program which itself is run by a third party group. They will claim not to know what you paid for the trip, and the property itself will not lift a finger to help, despite having received payment for your visit.

Fantastic hotel with great food and lovely people!

Jason C (N13lQ) on Apr 12, 2024

We wanted to find somewhere where we could relax for a week with the children with great food and found this place! It was fantastic. It ticked all the boxes. We were greeted by Alexa who was our personal concierge who was on call for the whole week and was so helpful and engaging. Thank you Alexa. The pool was so relaxing and the children had so much fun. Luis, Miguel and Tayde were fantastic and super attentive. There were plenty of activities for the children and adults. Nicholas who ran the daily activities did a great job. We had such a great time and would definitely recommend it and look forward to going back. Thank you

Best All Inclusive!

Rachael C on Apr 11, 2024

Grand Velas Riviera Maya is no doubt the nicest all-inclusive resort we’ve visited! Our room was very clean and comfortable, all of the dinner restaurants were delicious, and the service was top notch our entire stay. Thank you especially to Nora for the amazing concierge services and Daniel and Yasmin for the best pool service! They went out of their way to give us an exceptional experience!

Teens club was awesome!

Olivia M on Apr 11, 2024

There was a teens club for kids who wanted to play games such as ping pong, fortnite, etc. The workers there are very helpful and kind. Carlos Torres was super fun to be with and had great energy! I will definitely look forward to coming again next year!

Amazing Vacation

Ben N on Apr 09, 2024

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was absolutely perfect. The resort is absolutely beautiful and immaculately maintained. They achieve the always elusive feat of being at full capacity, but it never seeming crowded. The food was great and our kids who are picky eaters always found something they enjoyed. What sets this place apart from the other places we have been to is one word - SERVICE. I understand it’s the “job” of the employees to make you feel special, but I truly got the feeling they enjoyed doing it. Our concierge Alexa was always available with fantastic suggestions, daily schedules and even arranged for a doctor when one of our kids was not feeling well. She made us feel like VIP’s the entire trip. Orlando and Jorge at the pool seemed to anticipate everything we needed and were amazing. All of the wait staff at the restaurants were great but Alonzo at Azul was especially fantastic. The kids club staff was a 10/10 and I wish I had gotten more of their names but Abigail was a superstar. One of the unexpected highlights of our trip were the amazing pool activities for both kids and adults by Nicolas! In summary - if you want a place where both kids and adults can have a fantastic time, this is the place to be.
