    Property is gorgeous. Rooms are spacious with nice sized patio/balcony (depending on room type. We had oceanfront suite). Service is great. Friendly and helpful staff. All wearing masks and hand sanitizing stations everywhere. Restaurants are good (not a Michelin star experience but better than other all inclusive resorts I’ve been to.). La Brisa, the Mexican restaurant has the most amazing barbacoa and carnitas. The hostess said other guests prefer the other restaurants, but why would you go for Italian in Mexico?! The other guests were SLEEPING on La Brisa! They are not too pushy with the activities, which is nice. There are some vendors walking up and down the beach, but nothing like in Cancun city. Will definitely return again and again!

    My friends and I recently enjoyed a week at the, adults-only, Grand Paraiso. Positive things include: the ocean, sand/beach, sun, cabanas, and towels. The helpful, attentive employees, and the beautiful, large, well-maintained property. The salt water, SPA, and tranquility pools, as well as the many whirlpools. Isis, our enthusiastic 6:30 a.m. yoga instructor! Hot water in the room showers. Very large rooms, swinging chair on the balcony, limitless bottles of filtered water. On-site Covid testing before our flight home. Opportunity to use facilities at the attached resorts (del Mar, Beach, Lindo, and Maya). Very good chocolate chip cookies at the Maya. Things that could be better: Tennis. All of the soft courts were in horrible shape. There is no tennis program. Resurface the courts, fix the nets, remove the soccer goals and basketball hoops, hire a tennis pro and run some lessons or tournaments, OR just stop pretending to have tennis and bulldoze the courts and offer something else. The golf range loaner clubs badly need to be re-gripped. Our dinners were hit or miss. Some dinners at the specialty restaurants were too long (2 1/2 hours+) . My seafood (lobster, shrimp) was frequently over-cooked. We were directed to use the Iberostar app to see the daily schedule, menus, etc... The only issue with that is that some in our group were really hoping to unplug for the week. I think some signage around the property would be a real help for those who don't want their phone on them 24/7. This resort was maybe 30% full and is obviously still recovering from hurricanes and Covid 2020. We didn't get to experience all areas or activities. For example, the Centro Commercial Shopping Mall (food and entertainment) was closed. Overall, this is a very nice resort and I look forward to coming back.

    So I have been to this resort 4 times. I gave this stay a Very Good rating, but honestly that may be just a little generous. Checkin- They know take you into the bar and have you sit there. Unfortunately there were some gaps where they just disappear and leave you wondering what is going on. Room: Room was great. Beach front, everything worked. Our butlers Ana and Luis were great and dealt with our requests easily. Housekeeping was good, but at a resort of this caliber it's not acceptable IMHO for your room not to be cleaned before 4PM. Food: Two standouts. Italian was very good. Tacos at the lunch restaurant were good. Nothing else was standout and deserts were especially a letdown. When I won't eat something made with chocolate there's an issue, just tasteless. Now the 'epic fail". They are not requiring reservations. So we go to La Brisa for dinner at 7. They seat 25 tables at 7 with three waiters and apparently an understaffed kitchen. After 90 minutes we got up and left (we did tip the waiter as if he delivered an entire meal, it wasn't his fault management made these decisions) Luckily the Iberostar Lindo had a buffet where we could get food. Throughout our stay we saw a LOT of people letting the staff have it over the dining process. Unlike other resorts they basically just expect you to "hang around" indefinitely or hike back to see if you have a table as they have no way of contacting the guests. (Our butlers actually did a good 'service recovery' and got us into the other restaurants where the service was better, but not always outstanding). Service at the buffet for breakfast ranged from excellent to non-existent. Additionally since they now have to serve you the food occasionally you just stand there waiting while the staff is not really paying attention (I understand waiting when they are busy but if they are just standing around ? ) Beach/Pool Beach was clean and wait service was good. Lorenzo and Jonatan did a good job. Pool bar was closed. I only went to pool once, one side of the pool had really good wait service, the side I was on had no service. No big deal as I didn't need anything but interesting. I also found it interesting that beach wait service at the Lindo/Maya started at 9, but at the Grand it was suppose to be 10 (and was often later) Covid - When you check in the concierge will tell you to come the next day to make your reservation and get your "coupons" (AKA as "let me try to convince you to sign up for the timeshare sales pitch") When we went up to do this we realized that there was a desk you could just sign up at without seeing the concierge so we did that. We were leaving late Tuesday and had our test around midday Sunday. Testing was quick and easy and results were emailed to me and a printed copy dropped in our room. Resort was kept very clean. Staff always wore masks and most guests were observant indoors The resort is working very hard to reduce single use plastic. They use a refillable water bottle system. We originally had two bottles but when we asked for more they quickly bought them. We drank at least 4 bottles a day between the two of us and never had any problems. Also, they don't provide straws for environmental reasons, we bought reusable straws. Personally we never went to the concierge to get those "coupons" . They did put a note under our door every day, but for some reason they just can't deliver the coupons???? Hmm......I guess that would not give them the opportunity to try to pressure you into attending the "club" sales pitch! I have NO intention of ever attending that meeting. If they want to give me the details and pricing I might consider their program, but if you have to do a "high pressure sales with buy now hidden price pressure" NOPE.

    My husband and I spent 12 days at The Grand for our honeymoon! Upon arrival we were told welcome home and over the following 12 days I truly felt at home. The concierge Salvador helped me set up a few tours. He also set me up with Joyce the wedding coordinator who helped connect me with Novia Mia photography who did my jungle and underwater wedding photos in a local cenote. The resort itself was beautiful, well maintained and relaxing. The restaurants provided a good selection of delicious meals to choose from. The swimming pools, white sandy beaches, beautiful crystal blue oceans and spa were all exquisite! But the absolute best thing about this resort was its staff!! The first day we arrived we were greeted by our butler Victor. Victor was friendly and helpful. He kept our refrigerator fully stocked. He was punctual with any needs we had. He even gave us his own special aloe when we got a little over cooked by the sun. Daniel, Alejandro, Luigi and Dario were all bartenders that went out of their way to remember our names and remember our drinks. They were all quite dedicated to their jobs and were full of personality. Everyday there were multiple forms of entertainment. Dance lessons, volleyball, tequila tastings, yoga, were just a few and in evenings there was a show followed by a singer or musician in the bar. There were several staff that worked to pull these things together. The entertainment staff I found most engaging were Carlos, Gabriel, Aaron and Yodan. They were all very entertaining and enjoyable to be around. Asael and Hector were 2 of the best waiters and Brenda was the BEST hostess. The cleaning staff were all very dedicated and it was obvious the cleanliness of the resort was priority. We would highly recommend this resort and look forward to a return trip! Kat and Gary

    This resort is incredible. The staff were so pleasant at all times from the moment we arrived. Marianna went out of her way to help me get a compression stocking for my swollen ankle. She went to several stores on her own time to find the right one. Maria was so helpful and knowledgeable. Gabriel engaged us in activities and I love his sense of humor. I highly recommend iberostar Grand. This was my favorite resort I've ever stayed at.
