We stayed in a standard Jr. Suite with a 3rd floor balcony. Plenty of room but the beds were fulls and a little small for our family of four. Service has been very good but we especially wanted to give a call out to Joe Poot in Naos Restaurant. He couldn't do enough for our family. Anticipated our needs, and was always there filling water glasses, champagne glasses, keeping our area clean. We really enjoyed having Joe take care of our table.

I've stayed at many higher end resorts and this did not live up the reviews for us. The people were nice, we were upgraded because we were there for my parents 50th wedding anniversary, so that was nice to have a suite. The buffet was just OK, the food was always room temperature, nothing was hot or fresh. I was very disappointed with the coffee, it was not good. The wine options were the same for 7 days, a choice between 2 cheap bottles of wine, nothing else unless you wanted to pay. The alcohol was completely watered down (except at the hotel bar). I'd ask for a "double" just to taste it and they would basically pour 1/2 a glass of alcohol and the rest coke (or whatever) and it still had almost no taste of alcohol. It wasn't a little watered down, it's as if each bottle of alcohol was 1/2 water, if not more. The drinks were terrible (except at the hotel bar). I guess they don't want "parents" to drink too much with their kids around, my child is 17 so wasn't really my case. If ever I wanted a drink I'd walk all the way to the hotel bar. I'm used to staying at adults only resorts and so maybe that's normal for a family resort, but I found it very annoying. On top of this, 4th night in, my husband and I listen to rain sounds on my laptop to sleep and I woke up thinking...huh....it sounds like it is raining in our room"?...I fell back asleep thinking I was dreaming and woke up to my husband screaming jumping out of bed....it was raining on him through a light fixture!! We had to pack up and change rooms and weren't compensated for that trouble, except when we complained that we weren't and so they sent us a bottle of champagne as an apology. The chairs throughout the entire resort for dining were soooooooo uncomfortable (same chairs in almost every restaurant). I wouldn't normally complain about a chair, but these were horrible. My parents had a nice nespresso coffee machine in their room, I did not and was told they were out of machines. Beach was just OK, not nearly as nice as others I've been to. Would not return to this resort, giving it a 3. The beds were VERY comfortable, bathroom was very nice. Photo service was great, they took beautiful family photos of us for my parents anniversary.

Just spent a week at this resort, returned home yesterday. Had a wonderful experience and highly recommend getting the family concierge option! Our butler, Jeaneen de la Cruz was amazing and very helpful. She booked our a la carte meals, organized a treasure hunt in our suite and did a bubble bath surprise for my son. She checked in with us frequently and provided us with the daily activities for the week. We also loved the water park and the pirate pool. Everyone was so very nice and accommodating to our big group! Looking forward to returning next year!

We’ve just recently returned from our Thanksgiving week trip to Paradisus la Esmerelda, and it surpassed my expectations. It was crowded and likely at 100% capacity, but the service, food, activities, and amenities were still top notch. We had the Family Concierge package and it was great. The FC inclusions were well worth it: FC pool and beach area, access to Olio, FC lobby snacks (sandwiches, pastries, candy, nuts, fruits, etc.) and drinks, access to spa facilities, robes and slippers for kids and adults, Nespresso machine (in room and in FC lobby). Our butler Jonathan Vergara was great; he’s so sweet and very accommodating. My daughter loved his surprises he left in the room for her (balloons, scavenger hunt, cupcake, fish food to feed the koi). He was also able to get a PlayStation for us for a few days. He was easily reachable during our stay via WhatsApp. And he would also look for us at the pool or beach to check in on us. Service: Outstanding! From the reception, to bellhops, housekeeping, food/drink service, pool/beach service, and activities, they make sure you are happy. Shout out to Eduardo at Olio and Luis at The Market who helped us multiple times during the week; they kept our drinks coming and stomachs full. Food: All of the restaurants were so good it was hard to pick where to go. My favorite restaurants were Olio dinner (cheese fondue and seafood grill) and lunch at The Market (burgers were great after a day at the beach). There was no shortage of food when you wanted a snack. My favorites were chips and guacamole, mozzarella sticks, fresh fruit, oh and the ice cream at Naos! Get a small scoop each of coconut and chocolate ice cream ... you’ll thank me later. Room: spacious with comfortable beds; I loved the rain shower. My daughter liked the whirlpool tub on the patio. Also the minibar was always kept stocked! Pools/beach: The pool areas were clean with plenty of loungers/beds to choose from. People do wake up early to claim their spot though. The FC beach area was right next to the water sports; kayaking and paddle boarding were free. Spa/gym: these are located in the adults only part of the resort. The gym has daily classes and machines. With FC you get access time use spa facilities (sauna, steam room, pool, jacuzzi, showers, resting area). The goals of this vacation were to decompress (not think about work/school), catch up on some reading/Netflix, and have fun of course. Goals accomplished. Paradisus la Esmerelda is a great place if you’re looking for rest, relaxation, and fun!

We have been to many resorts but this is the only one we returned to a second time with my two kids. This year they opened a new waterpark and my kids LOVED it. For us we love the food. Variety and quality I the best we’ve had. We would highly recommend it to families. Who knows maybe we would go back a 3rd time. Service is also excellent.
