We arrived at the hotel and check in is what you would expect. Fast, friendly and to the point to get your vacation started. We were not bothered by the people wanting to sell us a vacation club since we emailed the resort earlier and told them we were not interested. We traveled with another couple and they had our rooms (Standard swim out suite) right next to each other and ready to go when we arrived. I can not stress enough that the hotel staff was the best we have ever had at any resort. Bellman grabbed our luggage and took all 4 of us to the rooms and showed us everything in the rooms and how it all worked. Rooms were very nice and updated. Has everything you need and loved the room service door so you aren't bothered when you order. They just call you saying it as been delivered. The tub was nice and shower was great. Nice seeing a toilet with a private door and fan. Many of the resorts in Mexico are just out in the open or don't have a fan. The swim out was clean and water was refreshing. The only complaint is that you have to get out of the water to get room service drinks and food. At the Valentin Imperial Maya (VIM) they have staff walking around asking for your drink order and or food order for most of the day which was a plus since we are pool drinkers. The main pool where we spent our first day was nice. Pool bar is what you would expect. Have to ask for the premium liquor or you get rail, which is the same at all the resorts. The only issue at the main pool is the pool bottom. It is extremely rough and you will hurt your feet if you don't wear something. From other reviews we brought pool footwear and glad we did. The infinity pool is right behind the main pool. A little smaller but much better bottom. You have nothing to look at as the beach is blocked by trees and sand dunes. I would recommend they remove the sand dunes so that you could see the ocean from the infinity pool, but that probably won't happen. Would be a better experience. Service at both pools was excellent. You can not find a better resort for service and I have repeated this in my reviews. The beach during our stay was nice. Not the clear blue water the area used to be due to the seaweed issues but the beach staff keep it cleared and we did get there during a low seaweed week. Service again was great and lots of chairs with coverage if needed. No need to reserve anything. OK now on to the restaurants. The buffet you had for breakfast everyday was nothing special. Standard food, seemed it was prepared the night before and just didn't seem fresh. We had room service one morning and the food was better. Lunch was again ok at the buffet but nothing special. We had lunch room service one day and it better again. I think making it fresh during the order was the difference. Dinners are better depending on where you go. All I can say is avoid the french. We all had their steak cut called "filet" however it is not filet. It is basically pot roast tied up to look like a filet but the taste was bad. There was a sauce on the steak that I only had a little but one of our travel partners ate it all as he was very hungry. This was a huge disappointment as we had really hoped this french restaurant was the same as the VIM. Boy were we wrong. Food sickness is the worst. Double that when you are far from home. One of our travel guests and myself spent the next day and a half in bed and in the toilet. Our wife's (who didn't try the sauce) were fine so I'm guess that was the problem. The Italian was by far the best food we had. It was fresh and cooked properly. The portions were good and everything was perfect. If you go to this resort, stay with this restaurant and you will be good to go. Drinks at all the bars were not to our liking. We drink them strong in the midwest and all other resorts I have never had any issues but this one had to keep asking for more alcohol to make them less sweet. Maybe it was our group or just the way they do it here but not really that great. Overall for the same price the VIM would be a much better resort if your pool people. The beach is not what it used to be anywhere right now so that is just how it is. Great staff and service was the top for me here. The food, drinks and resort overall were just ok. Not what you would expect for $3000 a couple (yes that included flights). Side Note: The VIM is just 5 miles north so we will be going there next trip to MX. Larger resort but better food/drinks for sure.

Our experience at this resort was fantastic. It was sooo nice to just be able to relax for a week and be pampered!! From being greeted when we got to the resort with a cold towel for our neck and a glass of champagne, to our room being amazing, we couldn't have asked for anything more. The workers there are all so friendly, and ready to help with any questions or with anything we needed. We had excellent maid service in our room. (cleaning, turning down our beds in the evening, and even putting a chocolate on the turned down sheets) What we liked is that you can do as much or as little as you want. There are lots of activities to do, or you can just lay on the beach or by the pool and relax (and be waited on). The shows in the evening were great too. I really can't think of anything that we didn't like about this resort and we would highly recommend it to anyone that wants a week in paradise!!!!!

We have just got back from 8 nights at Secrets Maroma and we could have easily stayed another week. We couldn't fault the hotel at all - nothing was too much to ask. The pools were great and never too busy, you didn't have to get up early just to get a sunbed, you could easily still get sunbeds at 10am. The food was great, we didn't manage to try the French restaurant but we did every other one and they were all fab - we especially liked the Italian and Mexican. We stayed in a swimout king room and the room was amazing. It was great having a swimout pool and the shared pool was never busy which was nice. The room had a jacuzzi bath. Our concierge Mariela was great - she accomodated any ask we had with no fuss, helped us out with any questions we had and made sure our stay was perfect. Couldn't recommend this hotel more! don't be put off by the mention of seaweed - the staff worked hard every day to clear this in the morning and throughout the day so we didn't really see it as an issue.

We have just finished our 11 day holiday in this hotel and couldn’t be happier. The food, the service, the staff, and the cleanliness is unbelievable. We don’t have one negative thing to say about the hotel, the resort or anything we have experienced on the trip! The massages are a little expensive but we still had one and the spa is unbelievable. I even had a blow dry there the one evening and Diana was fabulous. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone coming on a couples holiday to Mexico. There is so much to do if you don’t like staying in the hotel all the time, however if you do there is so much food and drink on offer anyway!

Secrets Maroma is probably one of my favorite resorts. They have a fantastic beach and amazing rooms. Beds are a little harder than I had hoped for, but that is my only complaint. Excellent service, very clean rooms and pools. The entertainment seems to get better every year. I was glad to see them change it up a bit from some of the other Secrets I have been to. Restaurants were all fantastic. We went shopping in Playa Del Carmen and the front door man made sure we had a taxi and the driver knew who we were, what room we were in and he even stuck around for us to shop, for a ride back. We were well taken care of. Our concierge, Henry, took great care of us along with Alberto our water at our swim out pool.
