Thoroughly enjoyed the all-inclusive resort. The bartender, Jose, at the Lobby Bar was so much fun! Luz at the spa was an excellent masseuse and facilitated a wonderful fish pedicure. The bands were top notch. Loved it when the waiter, Jerry, joined the fun and sang a few songs. We mainly used the Ventus pool, but the 'party' pool was a nice change of pace for a day or two. I like how the staff engages the guests and encourages participation in activities. The food was great (except the French restaurant). We were provided with mosquito repellent that wasn't smelly. I appreciated that. The bugs aren't too bad, but it was good to have coverage. The mosquitoes are tiny, so you can't easily see them. Vendors were on the grounds for one night. It was nice to see the different hand made items. I would like to know what the activities are for the week, not just on the day of. My only real issue is the water. I had bariatric surgery 8 years ago and my body reacted to the water. I think they purify and bottle their own and most everyone does fine. I had diarrhea that got worse as the week went on, but I only lost one evening where I needed to stay in to sleep. I switched to drinking juices and that helped. (I can't drink sodas due to the carbonation). I think the reason I had the issue was because my stomach is different than other people. Still had a great time!

    Awesome Ladies Trip

We are owners at El Cid Vacation Club and we go there a few times a year. This time was a girls' trip. We were absolutely pampered from the moment we arrived until we left. Our butler, Jairo, was always surprising us with something and took care of our every need. I had but to text him and we received whatever we needed. We visited the spa several times during the week for massages and hydrotherapy. Every employee at El Cid greets you with a smile and are very polite and accommodating to your every need. They have so many pools and pool bars that you lose track. We had a great time at the "Coconut Party" where they pumped in lots of bubbles with a bubble cannon so it was like a giant bubble bath in the pool. The beach could be better -- it was very rocky but at least this trip the seaweed influx was gone. Bring water shoes if you want to get in the ocean there. Spectacular views from our room. Think the Corona commercial with the waves, palm trees, and sun. They keep this resort immaculate. You don't see garbage anywhere and they attend to every detail. We will definitely be back and requesting our awesome butler Jairo again!

If you're a beach person, look elsewhere.

The title says it all - if you are a beach person, you should look elsewhere. The beach was nearly non-existent. The water was filled with seaweed, which is just a product of the location on the coast. Luckily they have a number of large, beautiful pools you can sit around. We were able to find shade most of the time, but that might not be so easy if you were to come during the busy season. Upon arrival, we were tired and were met with a hectic and unclear process for checking in. I had been hopeful that it would be easy and quick, based on a phone call I had received from our assigned "concierge", but that was not to be. Once we finally got checked in, we were ready to go to our room, but our "concierge" grabbed us to start the hard sell of whatever the hell the El Cid Vacation Club is. We weren't clear and were tired and really didn't care to be perfectly honest. Doing that right when people arrive is very frustrating and annoying. Nothing she provided was particularly useful. Our room was very nice - absolutely huge. We had booked a 1 bedroom unit via USAA/ICE Gallery. Unfortunately you do not get Platinum Privileges if you are not a member of the El Cid Vacation Club or pay for it. It's not worth the extra cost, based on the information listed on the site. We still had a view of the ocean and were well situated on the property. The property is not that big so it's fairly easy to walk from one end to the other. Be on the lookout for the large golf carts, they will try to run you over. Food was decent, but not great. They do know how to cook a steak, though! Filet in the various restaurants was cooked to medium rare perfection. We were highly disappointed in the La Marina restaurant. The restaurant is located literally on a marina so it's really no excuse to use fish that isn't freshly caught. Our favorite restaurants were the Italian and the French restaurants. The special Mexican buffet food was not good and was the only option available when we arrived on Saturday evening. The availability of certain restaurants on certain days was annoying and confusing. Hours should be posted on the doors for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are not. Front of house staff, from the concierge to the front desk folks, are less than friendly. That is in direct contrast to the service folks - they bend over backwards making sure you have all that you need or want, making sure that the grounds are clean, and just making you feel welcome. Cannot say enough positive about the service staff from the waiters in the restaurants, to the pool side waiters, to the groundskeepers, to the housekeeping. Jorge in beverage services answered our request for more Diet Coke and left us a sweet note. We also had a wonderful waiter in the Zanzabar in the evenings. He came to know us as the 3 ladies who wanted a sweet tea.

I was very disappointed with my stay at this resort. I paid for the platinum upgrades which did not yield very much. The smell was terrible throughout due to the seaweed issue but the resort was mediocre at best. My biggest disappointment as a platinum guest was the 2 devise wifi rule..... terrible!!

I had a wonderful time at Ventus August 31st to September 7 2019. Everyone in our party enjoyed their stay at the Ventus Marina. The Staff, food and accommodations was excellent. A big shot out to all the waiters, Golf cart drivers and house keeping staff. They were always willing to assist with a pleasant smile. I want to Thank all the staff at the Adults only pool, they were always on time with bringing your drinks. Although, I missed being served snacks/food pool side, The Market place was steps away if I wanted a bite eat. The food was always fresh and tasty. I am planning to visit again soon as long as you keep delivering exceptional customer service.Thank You Ventus for a fun week
