    Definitely great place for a getaway!

    When we arrived the staff gave excellent service with assisting and advising on all our questions since it was our first time there. Safety precautions were also great and taking temperature at initial arrival. They have a patio that you can chill at and can safely practice social distancing.

    Covid restrictions lifted this weekend!!!

    I think the opening was a bit premature. We booked the first weekend after lifting some of the restrictions for a Sat to Monday stay. Both the central reservations and the front desk told us about the covid restrictions, restaurant closures, but assured us there was Grab and go at the Laurel Restaurant. So when we called Sat for food, they said, "oh no, it is only for breakfast" and you can call and order. Well the next day, no one could take a phone order Then when we went down to the Laurel restaurant at 9 am, there was a long line and only 2 guys. The line did not move. You could not even get coffee. You need to have more available for guests. We have stayed in Carmel hotels that bring little breakfast baskets of yogurt, croissants, fruit, OJ, Coffee in a pitcher....So this was disappointing. Room was beautiful. The added refrigerator and microwave for our stay was a nice touch since it was only takeout food available. Room was clean and we felt safe. Great view in the Tower suite. Will come back again when things are more open.

    I am absolutely appalled by Fairmont management. In January 2021, I booked a night stay at the hotel - reserved over the phone direct with Fairmont staff. At check-in, with suitcases in hand, we arrived to the hotel that was fully CLOSED. I received NO notice of the reservation cancellation - no call, no email, nothing. I was hotel-less in San Francisco

    This is such a gorgeous hotel with an amazing location and incredible views! The service in the hotel is exceptional and I loved we had a welcome note at the front desk and inside the room. I booked the room for my partner (now ex, but don't let my horrible taste in men reflect on this hotel) through American Express. One of the most amazing things about staying at the hotel is the reservations to the Tonga Room and Hurricane Bar which is an iconic Tiki Bar and is a must experience! We enjoyed some cocktails and appetizers in the atrium and then made our way to the Tonga Room for dinner. The room itself was very spacious and the bed was so comfy! I loved it had a soaking tub and shower. I also loved all the historic photos and historical timeline that was shared on the walls on the main floor of the hotel. We did enjoy the breakfast buffet in the atrium and it was delicious! They had such a great mix of options and loved the omelet station. If you want to experience classic elegant hotel service then this is the place to stay!

    I have been blessed to stay here 3x with my future wife, and this review is from over a year and a half ago. Juan and Andres at the valet became friends for us. They were kind and helpful. A warm welcoming when coming to a hotel makes all the difference in a stay. This was around November 2018. We have stayed 3x throughout the last 5 years pre covid, and Juan at the valet remembered us. This was at a time where the hotel would have 300-400 check in a d check outs every day. We were blessed to spend fleet week there without it being in the plan. Albert was fantastic as well, giving great recommendations whilst making us feel very comfortable. Juan, Andres, Albert you all rock! I hope to see you all again soon either in Hawaii or back in California!
