When we arrived at this hotel I didn’t believe it was the one I booked online, the outside of the hotel is falling apart with a lot of building work being done at the entrance. When we went inside the reception area is large and seemed nice however the lady at reception was cold and seemed annoyed at our presence. Our room wasn’t ready so we waited, there were no hotel guests around and I left uncomfortable. The stairs was out of order so we used the lift. The hallway was dirty and smelly. The cleaner was called back to hoover our room while we were inside it. The smell of mould and cigarettes was vile. When the 3 staff members left the room I looked out onto the pool and started to cry (pictures attached). Reception told us the pool is out of ordered and needed to be cleaned.... I looked back at TripAdvisor reviews and started to realise I had made a massive mistake booking here. I went to the hotel next door and payed the same amount to stay with them, their hotel was absolutely amazing in comparison and saved my holiday.

    Thank you for Ivis Ma

I used the hotel from August 27 to 29. I left an important item in the previous casa, but the employee Ivis kindly solved it, and she continued to be kind to us. In fact, this hotel is not special to me if it wasn't for her. She helped us whenever there was a problem, and showed us a great deal of kindness. I loved this hotel because of her.

It is located to the west of the city and NOT within walking distance to any tourist attractions. Taxi is pretty expensive, around US$ 10 to go anywhere in the city. There is a tourist bus to go downtown but it takes too long and is not cheaper. If you like jazz, there is a famous Jazz Cafe nearby, but the music is pretty loud. This is an outdated hotel. Lobby has no air-condition but has good view of the sea, water dripping from the lobby ceiling during heavy rainfall. There is no guest service desk, so no info of sightseeing or bussing. (There is a tour agent in the basement.) The cafe has a sunroom setting but quite expensive. The restaurant is cheaper and dishes are presented nicely but pretty salty, The buffet breakfast in the basement has a lot of varieties, including fresh cut ham and omelette, and there is music playing in the weekend. The hotel is currently under some renovation and my room was updated. It is spacious, clean and modernized, except the bathroom (see photos). There is no handheld shower and the fixed shower head is at the ceiling at the centre of the tub. I found its position and location were not convenient. Water is only warm. The hotel is facing the sea and can see sunset from your room. Internet is not free, US$1/hour, and only works in the lobby.

The Havana Riviera hotel is the perfect option for anyone trying to get to know the city. The location is ideal for tourists and has the most beautiful view of the ocean. The service is incredible and the rooms are spacious with great beds and the air conditioning is always at a perfect temperature. There is always transportation available and, Ivis, the lady in charge of public relations is a joy and constant help. She is always at your service and knows all the best places in Cuba to recommend for those who might not have an idea of what to do. (shows, night life, salons etc.).
