Amazing experience, didn’t want to leave

Was such an amazing trip. The front lobby to access the double decker bus to Varadero was simple and quick to use. The “lobby” bar was amazing ask for Alberto he was the BEST bartender I’ve ever had wether it was espressos in the mornings or vodka limes in the afternoon he always had a smile and was very fast The food was good but if there was any problems at the buffet Yohani, danelys, subeidis or Janis were there to help. (Excuse the spelling). Even the chefs making the food were amazing, one was making my son French toast everyday. The gardens were amazing and beautiful filled with flowers and palm trees . A Gardner , Juan Palo, was making my family baskets and birds out of palm leaves. So talented and so nice. We all had such a great time and didn’t want to leave. This is going to be our family’s destination from now on. We’re coming back this Christmas! Thanks again
Best family vacation in Cuba!

Amazing family resort in Cuba! There were so many activities for kids. We went during March break and the Kids Club had magicians, clowns, cookie + drink making classes, nightly dance parties and so much more to entertain the kids. The last day we were there they had a pool foam party for saint Patrick’s day and everyone had a blast! The beach is amongst the best in the world (calm, warm and beautiful) and non-motorized boats are included with your stay. The resort itself is very pretty and the common areas are very well-maintained. Pool temperature was perfect and they always had something going on (water zoomba, pool gymnastics, mini putt contests, etc) and the pre-show and nightly entertainment was fun to watch. Food wise the Cuban BBQ day and Japanese restaurant were good and there were no food shortages at all (fully stocked with tons of food each day, fresh eggs, bread, cheese, fruit, ice cream and more). Only improvements would be 1) the room (mattresses were old and sagging, we couldn’t turn the AC down and the bathrooms can use an upgrade) and 2) the splash pad was under construction the whole week… But we will definitely be back next year with our family and hope to use the splash pad next time!
Love Cuba, but sad situation

I've never written reviews before but this one needed it. I read great reviews about the hotel before going, we went with my family of 5, and came back with mixed feelings. We had a great time overall but some things stood out as just not right. First of all, I feel sad for Cuba that has deteriorated over the decades. People feel like they are deeper in poverty than the last time I went 14 years ago. They can buy their necessities only with USD or CAD! As a result, the employees pack their dinner off the buffet in Tupperware containers in front of you. They're not very interested in serving you unless a tip is offered. The buffet ran out of eggs at breakfast and the bar ran out of juice the last couple of days we were there. Burgers were served without any condiments....we saw. a family bring their own bottles to meals! The coffee shop ran out of paper cups (which you need to be able to take your drink to go). This is my 5th time in Cuba, second time at an Iberostar resort in Cuba, and the first time I felt I was among starving people, not a good feeling when on vacation. The resort activities listed included interesting things like a "foam party" but that never happens. The "water park" is dry and deserted. On the plus side, the beach is the best in the Caribbean! Catamaran rides were included and were lots of fun (but of course priority was given to guests wanting to go snorkelling which is at a fee). Kayaks and paddle cars were also available. Vendors on the beach are few and keep their distance, respecting your space and need for peace and quiet. There are no motorized water activities on the beach so you have full enjoyment of a serene gorgeous beach. Property is spacious and well maintained. The band was great at the nightly entertainment. Several wonderful musicians were performing at various times around the resort. Rooms were very spacious and clean but shampoo/conditioner/soap were all rationed (refilled a few ml's daily, not enough for the 5 of us). Towels were not changed unless thrown on the floor. Do not stay in unit 18! 8am sharp every morning, staff would come to collect ice from the ice machine next to our room (probably for the nearby pool bar as it would take them several minutes) which would wake us up. You have to put a deposit for beach towels, returned at check out. Cuba felt safe and the people courteous. Advice: take lots of cash for tipping! Go to Cuba....but be prepared.

10/10. Excellent experience. This resort is well maintained, rooms very clean and food and beverages are excellent and no shortages. All staff are very helpful. Especially Laura and her colleague ( didn't catch her name) at front reception, as I was ill x1 day and they tried to help me secure meds/care. Not to their fault, unable to locate med. I was able to finish Vacation as I brought some meds. Overall, a wonderful experience.
First trip to Cuba

We spent a week at this beautiful resort from March 4 th to Mar 11th. This was our first visit to Cuba. It will not be our last. The resort was phenomenal. Very clean and immaculate grounds. There was no shortages to speak of. Food was plentiful and delicious. You will not go hungry here. Our last 4 holidays have been to Iberostars. We absolutely love them. The beach was absolutely gorgeous! Great for families. Nice and calm. We had green flag the whole time. Water is crystal clear. NO SEAWEED!! You can snorkel right off the beach. We are beach people and this beach was the best we have been on by far. No need to put towels down because there are lots of shelters to go around. Double decker bus stops in front of resort starting around 9:30 am with service to Varadero. There is one about every 30 - 45 mins. Bus pass is 7 dollars Canadian and is good for the whole day! Taxis and old cars everywhere for rent. Prices are awesome ( way cheaper than Mexico). We are already planning our return in November. This is the only Iberostar we will probably ever stay at in Cuba. A 5 star in Cuba is a 4 star anywhere else in my opinion. Word to the wise…. Spend a little more and ensure you have a nice resort for your stay. People are warm and friendly and very appreciative. We took American 1 dollar bills for tipping. Everything we bought we paid for with Canadian . They don’t like Canadian loonies and toonies cuz it is a hassle for them to change up. Absolutely loved this place and hoping to get back in November????????
