Melia Veradero is where you want to be!! Hands down the best trip we’ve ever had!! We typically vacation to Dominican but this was the first family trip to Cuba and we can’t wait to return! We have 4 kids (14,14,11&7yrs) and everyone loved the trip from the moment we woke till going to bed at night! We have a large family and the resort accommodated by giving us 2 rooms side by side. Our rooms were spotless, comfy beds and everything stocked. We were soooo worried about food and shortages bc things we have heard about Cuba lately but Melia had 0 shortages! The food was on point and so much variety. My younger girls LOVED the pizza, fries, cold cuts, dessert and ice cream! The rest of us enjoyed the variety of everything else the buffet had to offer. The endless amounts of Pina Coladas from Papito was the best we’ve ever tasted. My family had withdrawls when we got home bc all we could think of was Papitos Pina Colada We did a family trip on the boat to see/feed the fish at the reef (super cool and only cost $20USD each) the beach and pool chairs were never an issue. We always found a comfy spot! We brought $120 USD to distribute as tips and we used it ALL by day 7! The staff are all so amazing, so deserving and work so hard to keep visitors happy. Aldo made everyone feel welcome at aqua, volleyball and bache ball. My family cannot wait to return again to Melia Veradero. Was there for two weeks. Food is great, if want eggs for breakfast go early as is big lineup. Breakfast is from 730 to 1000, Lots of papaya and pineapple. Don't go on seatour if wanting good snorkeling it is better just to catch catamaran on our beach for 20.00 and see hundreds of fish. I snorkeled the 1/8 or more three times but brought my own snorkeling equipment. They supply everything. Pool volleyball with Aldo most days at 330. Go early if want umbrella on the beach, 830 is time they start. Did the Japanese a la carte and was great, two grills and two cooks. Rooms are nice maids great. Bring a wash rag. Every Tuesday is Cuba day on the front of resort and do not go to buffet. Have two lines one for meat and other for salads fruit and desserts with ice cream sandwich. Just bring American as everything is in US dollars. No use cashing into pesos. They will take Canadian but with charge much higher or lots of places take credit cards in American. I found if you want to buy any souvenirs or tobacco or rum buy at duty free at airport before going through customs. Right after you get your boarding ticket. Many people of all nationalities but all friendly (met Polish, Russian, Australian Estonia etc.} Suggest going into Varadero for walking around and restaurants, also go see Beatles Bar and statues. There are two tennis courts one with net and Julio tennis instructor who played once but got sick after. Hope gets better. I put the outline of pickleball court on the court if anyone wanting to bring paddles. No beach volleyball, just stretching on the beach and also stretching by the pool and pool aerobics. Have fun, is great resort. I left my beer mug in lobby and got it back next day in lost and found. Internet only in the lobby, slow but better than nothing.
