This festival takes place annually in the tiny village of El Cedral, during the end of April and beginning of May. It's a tradition dating back more than 150 years to honour the safe passage of families who fled the mainland to Cozumel in 1848 during The Caste War (La Guerra de Castas).

Families from all over the island come out to take part in the country fair-like atmosphere, complete with magic shows, food stands and bullfights. Traditional dances are performed on May 3, the Day of the Holy Cross (Dia de la Santa Cruz). It is a good idea to go early in the week to avoid the crowds. Shuttle buses to the site leave from the Chedraui Mall in San Miguel throughout the day.
