We experience and amazing 3 days vacations at this beautiful, well located resort, the rooms are clean, spacious and with great amenities; the pool, beach and all public areas very well taken care off, the food and bar services were really good (this is an all inclusive resort) and we were very happy with all the food and drink services; but above all this every member of their staff made us feel welcome, they were genuine, very friendly, helpful and always smiling! Thank you so much for an excellent service

    Another excellent trip

Although our holiday was cut short by various airline problems I cannot fault the hotel or its staff who are a credit to the resort. This was our 2nd visit and no doubt there will be a 3rd in future. Location is great with choices of pools and the beach, food choices and quality are spot on and as mentioned previously the team are faultless. One small downside is a couple of very loud yound Americans, especially when fuelled up on cocktails, but this was compounded by the fact that the weather was poor and guests were cocooned in the bar area together.

We always vowed to return after our honeymoon 17 years ago and we did!

Our first visit was in 2003 and so lovely. After years of kids holidays, now the last at uni we decided to relive our honeymoon. I was a bit worried...you don’t expect to surpass your honeymoon and thought maybe things had changed beyond recognition after 17 years? Not so....Amazing as we remember, understated luxury...what we like, no bling, food is delicious and not buffet style thankfully but selected from menus. The grounds have matured and are so beautiful. The staff are wonderful, so friendly and helpful. Location is second to none....the views are amazing! Well done Coco Bay for staying true to your belief in what makes a really fabulous holiday and keeping is so.

This was our 4th re-arranged holiday destination due to Covid restrictions however we were so pleased that we ended up at Cocobay. The hotel, the grounds and rooms were all beautiful. This is definitely a hotel that attracts couples looking for 'insta-perfect' pictures. The hotel has one main beach which was stunning. There is a line of beautiful washed up shells from the reef everyday which just adds to the feeling that you've arrived on a perfect tropical paradise beach. There are some beach vendors but it's the same few that are there every day and they are not at all pushy. They had some great deals on trips and some nice things to buy. Be aware though that they only accept cash. We hadn't brought much with us as we didn't think we would be spending anything but once we got there we were tempted by the horse-riding and the jet skiing. You can get cash out from the hotel reception, but they charge $20 US. When I asked, they had run out so my partner and another guest shared a lift with one of the vendors to the local supermarket to get cash. The cash machines give out Eastern Caribbean dollars. Not a problem until you get back to the UK and HSBC (yes the world's local bank) didn’t accept Eastern Caribbean dollars to change back! So my advice would be to take a lot more US$ than you think you need as they can be easily changed back once home and there are some amazing excursions. The food was nice although don't expect large portion sizes. There are a number of courses which makes it just about enough not to get hungry. There are snacks available from the bars during the day too. We stayed in a deluxe pool cottage which was lovely. The pool was colder than the main pools though, so we didn’t get much use out of it. The main issue with the room however was the bathroom. It had doors which open onto the balcony area to let the light in, which was fine in the day. At night however, there is only one small strip light, so the bathroom had the feeling of a dark cave. Not great for getting ready for the evening. I'd definitely recommend bringing some extra lighting if you like to have good make-up lighting etc. The shower was also the type, which is attached in place to the wall, which I don't personally like. I would have preferred it if there was a detachable shower head. The shower plughole was also a route for cockroaches to come in and out during the night! The sound of the insects as soon as the sun went down took a while to get used to as well! One thing the hotel really could do with changing is the check-in process. I understand it has changed due to Covid but after travelling and wearing a mask for around 13 hours we just wanted to relax and get to the room. Upon arrival, we were asked if we had completed the online check-in. We hadn’t and hadn’t received any email asking us to do so. We had to connect to the Wi-Fi and upload a ridiculous amount of information in order to check in. This involved taking pictures of our passports, covid tests, finding flight numbers from bits of paper that were blowing around in the wind etc. The whole thing was extremely stressful and the WIFI was slow. The photos of the covid tests seemed a bit unnecessary seeing as we'd just shown them at the airport in order to get into the country. I understand why the hotel is doing a 'remote' check in but we could have done this the day before while we were more relaxed and had time before we left for out flight. We didn’t have an email asking us to do this and yet this would have saved us time and stress. That really is the only thing I can criticise though. The hotel, staff and the location were all absolutely amazing. The other guests were super friendly, and everyone seemed so relaxed to have escaped whatever was going on in their respective countries. Guests were predominantly from the UK and USA. This is a hotel which definitely attracts a younger customer and the pictures on the hotels social media sites are of guests not models. This is the type of guest the hotel seems to attract.

We stayed at Cocobay at the end of September for 12 days. Once we decided on our destination of Antigua, we found that hotel options weren’t as vast as a result of many hotels still being closed due to the pandemic. We decided on Cocobay after the rave reviews on TripAdvisor with so many cheering the team for wearing face coverings. While our stay was pleasant and the resort beautiful, my biggest concern was that the majority and I’d say 9 out of 10 Cocobay employees wore their masks incorrectly. Most had their nose exposed, would remove their masks within 6 feet of you and at a close proximity like when taking your order at the table, at the host stand and even while making drinks at the bar. I brought this to the attention of reception and immediately saw a difference. I saw the restaurant manager go to the bartender who was making drinks with an exposed nose and of course looking down as he made beverages and it was addressed. That didn’t last long though as it continues for the duration of our 12-day stay. I was surprised as all the reviews are said the staff wear masks which they do but just incorrectly. Granted, I understand that Antigua has very low cases but they claim to follow WHO and PAHO guidelines which require face coverings for both nose and mouth. There’s also signage in the lobby that asks guests to wear masks as they traverse the resort and very few people did that. Aside from us, I saw two other sets of couples use them consistently. Now, I can’t control other people or the employees so I wore my mask but would appreciate if their efforts carried through completely. We were sat at a table looking into the kitchen and their cooks weren’t wearing masks at all. It was the biggest disappointment of my stay. The resort is beautiful with the pool facing the beach as the true gem. We spent most days lounging by the pool and taking in that incredible view. It is truly spectacular. The food was delicious and the menu at Rafters, their main restaurant, changes every day for 14 days. Breakfast was standard fare with lunch and dinner offering a variety and the food is delicious. Their pasta of the day was always a favorite. Absolutely delicious! For other food options in between breakfast and dinner, Cocobay offered paninis by their beachside pool as well as bar bites from 330-5 across from Rafters at the bar. Bar bites were pizza, wings and potato wedges - all very good. On our first visit to the bar for bites, I went to place the order and was told they were over at 5. I checked the time and saw it was seven minutes ‘til 5 but was told I couldn’t place an order. That was disappointing since they ran food to other guests for another 20 minutes past 5. I thought that could have been accommodated. My recommendation is to arrive early and place your order at least 15 minutes before their last call. Regarding their beverages, the soda was usually flat and cocktails were inconsistent in how they’d turn out. Surprised to find they didn’t serve Antiguan beer. They may have offered other beverages as part of the in-room refreshments but we learned towards the end of our stay that the room fridges were to be filled daily. (Ours was consistently missed and we stayed for 12 days). The reception staff was always very kind and gracious. The real stars of our stay were Kerry and Calvin. Kerry was our server at Rafters for breakfast and lunch, for sadly just the last few days of our stay. He was kind, anticipatory and just a joy to be around. He also was one of the few employees who actually wore their mask correctly, covering both their nose and mouth. I also asked him if I could have a grilled cheese for lunch one day which isn’t on the menu and placed an order for another item in case that wasn’t possible. He brought me both! What a delight that was and I so appreciated his kindness in asking the kitchen to prepare it. The other star was Calvin who greeted us most days at the restaurant, showed us to our table and engaged with us warmly. He would also touch our table throughout our meal to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. The cottages are very comfortable and the views from the shower and balcony are incredible. If you can splurge on a plunge pool and view of the beach, it’s a must-do. They supposedly stock your room refrigerator daily but that never happened for us so I’d follow up with reception if not as it is an amenity included with your reservation. We used the gym once and they have a great set-up. Only one party allowed at a time and you make the reservation at reception. We enjoyed the non-motorized water sports, taking advantage of sailing, kayaking and stand up paddling boarding. The beach is beautiful. We assumed it was private but found it wasn’t. There are locals who set up and have souvenir booths, offer massages and jet ski rentals.
