We have just returned from a weeks holiday in the Verandah Resort &Spa The check in was fine although the welcome drink never materialised, we were driven to our villa in a golf buggy. We were a little concerned to begin with as we appeared to be a long way from reception and the resort was in parts very very hilly, however after a few days we found our way around we could walk to all of the amenities and beaches, the reception was a long way away but how many times do you need to go to the reception apart from checking in and out. The golf buggy would take us around if needed and could be called from the phone in the room or various points around the resort. I will agree that on occasions we waited a long time for a buggy but mostly it was ok. I suggested that more house phones were placed around the resort along with a few more staff to drive the golf buggys. We found all of the staff extremely pleasant and most very hard working. The pool party evening was excellent, the staff worked so hard placing enough tables for everyone around the pool, the bbq food that evening was a good standard and plentiful. The rooms were huge and cleaned to a very high standard. Considering the resort was 91% capacity the week we stayed nowhere was crowded, we never queued for a table in the restaurant, water and bar drinks were brought to our table on arrival, we never felt rushed and the staff were very pleasant. We were disappointed with the food, I can say it was ok and we didn't go hungry but we all felt it could have been better quality. We did not see any cockroaches as stated in some of the reviews. infact considering the tropical environment we didn't see any insects at all. The amenities such as the mini golf, table tennis, shuffleboard, swimming pools and beaches were of a very good standard and always available to use. All in all we had a great holiday and would return.

Room was great. Well maintained and modern design. Food was OK, the grill had a higher consistency then the main buffet restaurant. Drinks were good quality but in some areas the service wasn't as good. Example, my pregnant wife ordered a non-alcoholic drink which clearly had alcohol and was told when she asked if there was any in the drink that it was more than like not in the drink. Well I'm here to say that it was. Other Than that the staff was very lovely and accommodating

We are here now at the Verandah, and the new resort—by the same ownership—The Hammock, is just being occupied. This new vegetation-free, inward harbour looking, jam-packed resort leaves you feeling like you are on a New York subway. It overlooks the already too-small beach of the Verandah (no ocean views at The Hammock— the two resorts allow guests to stare into each other bedrooms over the narrow bay. Bring binoculars not flippers). In what is a great example of “soiling your own nest”, they are dredging this tiny bay to build a beach in this new, so-called 5 star resort (no resort that looks at another resort as its primary view can possibly be 5 Star). Due to the dredging, the water here is cloudy, dirty from the nasty black machine in the middle of the bay that pumps sand from the bottom on and off all day. Hammock have also built a huge dock, where one can assume a large boat will be living, making what was probably a safe swimming zone far less so. Avoid both resorts as the natural aspects are really compromised. To be very fair—th e staff here are extremely nice and helpful. The food is Ok. There isn’t much to do on-site anyway except enjoy the water and water activities but forget your mask and snorkel. It’s tightly packed, claustrophobic and really screams “greedy landowners”. Sad, but true.

This is our fourth visit to The Verandah and it just gets better. Stunning grounds with frequent buggies to get you around if you need it. Extremely welcoming staff who can’t do enough for you. The restaurants have a varied choice and the quality of food and drink is excellent. Good entertainment and activities programme. The Tuesday pool party was a real highlight. Great children’s club although we didnt need it this time. Lots to see on the island if you can peel yourself away from the 2 lovely beaches, one quiet and shady, the other with water sports and ample sunbathing opportunities. Main pool huge and there’s a secluded adults only pool, both with bars Met a lot of people who were returning here after being less satisfied elsewhere.

Stayed seven nights. Third time at this Elite Island Resort. As always, everything was fantastic. The room, verandah, beaches, pools, grounds, mini-golf, food, drinks, staff & especially the view. Loved the Managers reception on Monday, the pool party on Tuesday & Nicole's Restaurant. Be sure to go off site & visit Devils Bridge, Long Bay Beach & get a day pass for the sister resort, Pineapple Beach Club, across the road. And book a taxi and go into St John's the main city. Can't wait to go back. Also we give our 2 waitresses at Nicole's, five stars, Nicole and Felicia they were awesome.
