The advantage of Lionsdive is its location. It’s next door to Mambo Beach’s shops and to Seaquarium, so you save on travel costs. You won’t need to spend $700 USD on a weekly car rental (or else you can just get a one-way rental to Avis at Mambo Beach for the day). Everything is pleasantly furnished, and deck chairs outside rooms face the sunset near the pool. The hotel service was tepid, but the beach and patio were sizzling at Hemingway’s on site. There’s also Oceans Encounters dive shop right there. You can go snorkeling, diving, or ask about renting watercraft. Pelican Express is docked next to there, if marine excursions are your interest. There’s plenty to do and enjoy for the whole family, especially if you want everything nearby or at your doorstep. For mobility impaired guests, there’s a ramp to the beach. However, it might be a challenge to get back up to street/pool level. Parking is $3 on check-in.

This was our first stay at Lions Dive (and first trip to Curacao). We had a nice one bedroom suite overlooking the sea (and the Chill beach bar). We were very happy with our room, the front desk staff, the bellman, housekeeping, etc. The dive shop (Ocean something) is very close by and I have reviewed them seperately (good outfit). Though we took full advantage of the kitchen there are a LOT of restaurants within minutes of walking distance. Couple things to keep in mind... Curacao is a port of call for cruise ships...and somehow or another the “boat people” will end up on the beach. Note that there are other resorts adjacent to LionsDive and most (of not all) have some tiki huts, chairs, etc. These will all fill up fast (by mid morning) if there is a ship in town. By mid to late afternoon you may be able to find a spot with some shade but just be forwarned...the beach will fill up if there is a ship in town. Mombo (sp) Beach is evidently very popular and on the weekend evenings one of the bars down the beach plays some very loud, base thumping, teeth rattling, door shakin’ music. You just have to deal with it. It usually shut down at midnight or a little after. The Chill Bar (nice beach bar) is also quite popular, especially on weekend evenings. We hung out on our balcony and people watched. Bottom line on last two items? This is not a quiet place. My wife and I agree...the next time we come to Curacao we will most likely stay at LionsDive.

This was our second stay at Lions Dive. We had a family group this time and adjacent 2 bedroom apartments. The apartments are spacious and overlook the 50m pool with a view of the beach. Although we left the property to explore and visit other restaurants it is possible to stay on the property and have a very good stay. Our family from youngest to oldest (grandchildren to grandparents) had a great time.

    Underwhelming service and food...

Unfortunately, we found the service and attitude of staff negligent at best, and grumpy. We wonder if they like their job there? We found the food disappointing. The breakfast on beach, while a lovely setting, was only average...who wants 'Fruit Loops' these days?! The fish we chose for dinner at the 'best' restaurant - Nemo, was overcooked and overpriced, When we voiced our concerns at the desk...the manager never appeared to deal with things...humm. Our room in hotel was clean but nothing special, and the shared balcony is not private...definitely only 3 star. Lion's Dive has a lot going for it...good fitness facilities (50 meter pool, gym and massages good too)... the location for families is great - right next door to the aquarium and only 10 mins by car to Willemstad, and it has a lovely shallow beach for young children. The beach is listed as 'longest' beach on Curacao...it is only about 50 metres long(!)...so really nowhere to talk long walks. And watch out for noisy area next door at Mambo Beach. Ask for rooms at other end of hotel to avoid amplified music. The music at Hemingway restaurant was supposed to stop at 11 pm…but went on a good half hour longer…This happened only one night. The other nights there was no outside noise, thankfully. Thanks to renting a car, we explored the island and found a some lovely small beaches, and good restaurants. In Willemstad we ate breakfast at La Boheme - super smoothies! and enjoyed excellent dinners at Kome and Blessing Curacao. Locals eat at Pop's Place for a lovely, on the water, casual spot. We met some warm and friendly people outside the resort...but in our opinion, the resort has a lot of work to do to lift up its 'hospitality' and dining services. We left 2 days earlier than planned. Not returning... From Toronto, Canada

We have just returned from a one-week stay at Lions Dive and it was pure heaven. The resort is beautiful, clean, the rooms are perfect and comfy, the beach is superb, and the food was so delicious! The staff was friendly and helpful. Truly, we cannot find one bad thing to say about this resort - we highly recommend it! We would definitely go back without hesitation. The shuttle bus to the grocery store and to Willemstad is a wonderful service to offer your guests, thank you for that. Keep up the good work!
