    Hotel Macdonald made a last night together before a long break for my husband and I very special. Not only did they upgrade our room, when we walked into the beautiful room there was a plate of choclate strawberrys. When we arrived back from dinner that evening we were surprised to see a bottle champainge on ice, compliments of the hotel with a lovely little note telling us to enjoy our date night. Thank you to the staff at Hotel Macdonald, it made our night :)

    My husband and I stayed at the Hotel MacDonald for 3 nights while I attended a conference at the Shaw conference centre, just a short walk down the Avenue. We received a complimentary upgrade to the Gold floor which only added to the already impressive Fairmont devotion to providing their guests with top notch service. We really enjoyed appetizers and relaxing in the private lounge with a glass of wine after a long day at the conference. Our room was spacious and very clean. Neither of us sleep well in hotels, but not the case here. The beds are so comfortable, just like being at home. No shortage of fluffy towels and Le Labo toiletries. Views of Edmonton's river valley we're beautiful too. Due to long days we only ate breakfast at the hotel, which was delicious and plentiful. However, being originally from Edmonton, we've eaten at the Harvest room many times and recommend it whole heartedly. The staff here really understand service excellence!

    I stayed here over the Labor Day long weekend for a wedding brunch which was on Sunday of the Empire ballroom. We checked in on Saturday night and front staff were courteous and efficient. Door staff parked our vehicle and took care of all our luggage which was a big help as we were travelling with a young infant. The crib we requested was already rolled into the room but as you can see in the photo attached to this review, the mattress was quite low to the ground. The crib was not adjustable for our 3 month old baby. In retrospect, I should ask for another couple of mattresses to stack on top of the one provided as my arms were not long enough to put baby in. The room is decorated in a more traditional style in line with the hotel's historic air. There are some signs of wear and tear but the room was comfortable and very clean. Shower had awesome water pressure, Keurig coffee and tea bags were good and the tv was equipped to cast streaming programs from my cellphone which was nice as it allowed me to catch up on my shows without staring for hours on my phone. During this stay we also made use of the gym which was spacious and had good equipment.

    We spent the night to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and it was amazing! The hospitality was above and beyond any hotel we have ever stayed in. They truly care! Amazing people. The ambience is second to none.

    Simply the best!

    The great service started with booking the room. Rebeca and Brooke were very understanding as we tried to get a reservation to fit our schedule. Karlyn at the front desk was helpful and always had a smile and a warm hello. She even called for the "canine in residence", Smudge, to come to the lobby so that we could meet her. We even took her for a lovely walk along the escarpment. The Harvest Room dining room was a treat. The chef, Danika, came out to discuss the menu when we had a few questions about our supper. The scallops were fab, as was the beef and the Monk fish. Breakfast was excellent thanks to Douglas who was an efficient and personable server. Even the housekeeping and fitness rooms staff were very nice. No request was too much trouble. Staff was great! Food was superb. And the room was very nicely appointed.
