It was a very nice place to go to with my family. When we got there, we thought it would take forever to get checked in because it was crazy busy but it took about 15 minutes to get checked in and it was great service too! I loved how it was in the center of fremont street and to be able to just walk to a lot of places was great! The rooms were also very spacious and comfortable.

Great location right on the strip outdated but affordable variety of restaurant and large rooms. The casino is well located and got ample variety of slot machines. One thing you notice it’s very well iterated. I’ll will definitely will go there again.

I was worried that the comments on how outdated the hotel would be and how sketchy the area was but it was all fine. The hotel itself does not have the flash of the Bellagio of course but has character and aged charm. The room was spacious and new and had a view of the mountains and the city. The area is as expected from a casino neighborhood with its homeless and destitute people hanging out but not so many , it is somewhat like bourbon street in New Orleans ! It was fun to see people zipping overhead in Fremont street and there were music shows that were fun to listen to. All good!

We arrived on a saturday in late august around 3 p.m. and 10 people ahead of us at check in and had our rooms in about 15 minutes. Off to Carson Tower where we stayed a year earlier, different room. Last year we had a renovated room, this year our room was dated but I don't let that bother me, I am here to have fun. Rooms are handed out on first come first serve basis, being a saturday the best rooms go quick. Come on a monday and you will get better rooms Busy weekends you take your chances with what you will end up with. Also if you show up late at night, you might not get what you booked on line, even if it is months in advance. People get mad, but what can the desk clerk do if the best rooms are taken. That is where people think the desk clerk is rude, is a lot of situations she cannot satisfy angry customers. For best rooms show up early afternoon, come early in the week and chances you will get a renovated room. Better prices also early in the week. I like Carson Tower for the quietness, away from Fremont Street and the cheapest rooms. We booked on line, Super Shuttle ahead of time and cost $26 round trip from the airport for two people. They are reliable and efficient and we stopped at just one hotel on the way to The Nugget and straight to the airport on the departure. Last year no extra stops either way. On Fremont Street the Golden Nugget is in the Center of it all for a great time. Your on vacation don't let a few funky things with your room spoil your trip. Go out and have fun that is why you came to Vegas in the first place. This place is a palace compared to some of the rooms I have stayed in my back packing days around the world. Oh ya if your a coffee lover and need a coffee when you get up in the morning they have two Starbucks in the hotel, NO coffee maker in the rooms, unless you splurge on the pricier rooms in either Rush or Gold towers. What we do is bring a small water electric kettle and earl grey tea bags from home. $6 coffees at Starbucks is a little too pricey for me. I am real cheap, I bring oatmeal from home and we have a bowl of oatmeal once a day in the room. Very cheap buffets at Fremont Hotel just across the street from The Nugget. Enjoy your stay this a very fun hotel.

No fridges in any of the rooms we rented (Carson & Gold Towers)

Our rooms were comfortable and clean and the gigantic air conditioner did a great job of countering the 42 degree (Celsius) heat. Desk and housekeeping staff were professional and efficient. Be warned: there are NO fridges in the rooms, and I had medication which I had to keep in a constantly-refilled ice container. But the rooms have individual combination safes, hair dryers, iron, and a couple of water bottles. It was rumoured that they would charge several dollars for using the water, but I had no charges for that upon checkout. Also, there were no coffee machines in the three rooms we rented... The visuals in the hotel, the shark pool and of course the attached casino were spectacular. The in-house Claim Jumper restaurant had the fastest kitchen I've ever experienced, and even the Sliders were as delicious as full size burgers. But the pearl of the establishment is the buffet restaurant one floor above the casino. Absolutely mind blowing. Best I've ever had, went back twice. It's possible to get two-for-one coupons for it but my friends knew the ropes not me. Casino connects to the staggeringly unbelievable carnival of Fremont Street. Two thumbs up for this reasonably-priced vaycay, if you don't lose your shirt to the one armed bandits : )
