    Family Trip to Remember

I personally booked this trip myself. Did the research and my gut lead me to Dreams Las Mareas and I was not disappointed. First a quick warning. Any hotel from the airport near the coast will range you at least 40 minutes. From the airport to Dreams it was a 1 hour 30 minute ride. Although it sounds long, it was a pleasant journey to see the towns and rural parts of Costa Rica as well as some wildlife. Our driver stopped the van on our way to the resort to show us a howler monkey in one of the trees. The check-in process was smooth and we were transported with our bags to our rooms via golf cart. The resort itself is on the coast and is a decent size. My recommendation is to book the preferred club swim up room. The room itself is located in the middle of the resort making it within a reasonable distance to all restaurants on premises, the pools, bars, spa and concierge. The room is located on the ground floor and has access to a semi-private pool that you share with a few other rooms in the same building and can access through your room. The room is spacious, with a walk in shower, toilet, double vanity sink, very comfortable bed, robes, slippers and a stocked mini bar. If you are in the preferred club you also get access to a exclusive pillow menu to pick out your own pillow as well as a separate preferred club lounge which has a bar with upgraded liquor, snacks, check-in and concierge. If you are in a non-swim up room you will have access to a private balcony Jacuzzi on a higher floor. There are many restaurants to choose from including a steak house, a hibachi restaurant (reservations required), a Mexican restaurant, a seafood restaurant, an adults only Italian restaurant and a buffet restaurant. Additionally there is a coffee bar with snacks, and a pool snack bar. Fair warning is they don't serve straws as an environmentally friendly resort but you can get them upon request. There are tiered pools to swim in as well as 1 adults only pool. There's also a waterslide for enjoyment. The beach as all beaches in Costa Rica are public so there will be other people there trying to sell you fishing and ATV trips and such. Entertainment is decent. Nothing too special. The resort has a kids program but it's only for ages 3+. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more attentive. One of the best resort staffs I had a pleasure of coming across. I would recommending to spend at least 5 nights just because of the distance from the airport and to enjoy the beauty of the area. Would recommend going during dry season and taking an excursion. We ended up doing an all day excursion that went horseback riding, zipling/hanging bridges, to the hot springs, a waterslide, and a cultural experience and lunch. Overall loved my stay here and would highly recommend this place and would even stay here again if I come back to Costa Rica.

We went with 3 other couples but brought our 13 year old daughter. Our room was upgraded to a ocean view for an additional $280. We couldn’t really see the ocean but did have a nice view of the property.

I booked a vacation through unlimited vacations club, We were scheduled for 8 days a few days due to Boing 737-800 flight grounding/change we had to depart one day early to keep on our itinerary. No refund for the night no one really cared - made me fill out a form that nothing ever happened. There were a few excellent people working the resort - my beef was with front desk -vacation club and the management for not acting upon my request. Other than that its a chill place clean food is fine, and people are generally caring and friendly.

    Beautiful Resort.

This resort is absolutely beautiful with great restaurants and the grounds are amazing. I absolutely loved the pools and delicious drinks. They also have a great little coffee/ice cream shop with delicious homemade ice cream and the spa was amazing. The beach was okay but a bit rocky. I did find the gift shop to be quite expensive compared to other resorts that we have been to. Make sure you pack extra sun block. We certainly enjoyed our trip until a day before we left my husband got sick but thankfully I didn't get it because I couldn't imagine travelling in that condition.

    Nice but mistakes

The beach is okay. If you are going for white, soft sand, you should reconsider. However, the food was great and the pools/bar service at the pools were amazing. It is a kids resort, but compared to other resorts I have visited that are not 18+ this is on the less annoying side. Dreams does a good job keeping kids out of the adult pool. However, the staff made some serious mistakes.... 1. The turn down service stole peanut M&Ms out of our room. We tipped the guy/gal that restocks it and asked for an extra bag, which was 100% for sure there when we went to dinner. After dinner, we only had 1 bag and turn down service was complete. 2. The made left the faucet running on a sink when she cleaned our room and flooded the room. Water literally pouring over the balcony and from under the front door. The staff initially accused us of being responsible, but did not charge us for anything as we had been at the pool the entire day. 3. The Himitsu restaurant has good food, but they forgot to make it and we sat there for over an hour without food on our final night and asked multiple waitresses what was going on. I would recommend a resort in the AM Resorts chain, but I will avoid this one in the future.
