We had visited all the other Sandals properties except this one. So, we decided to give it a try with the help of Amy with Dream Makers Vacation Services. And for the most part, it was a great vacation with more highs than lows. The highs — the Island, the Gilligan’s Island excursion, the food, and the spa. Also, Darren at the island bar, Desario at the pool bar, and Quentin (Q) were all terrific bartenders. Beverly in Soon Come Back was one of the most personable employees at any resort. The lows — I’m easy to please, and only one of the lows actually bothered me. Some of the staff didn’t have the best attitudes, that happens sometimes and was not a big deal. The bees were horrible by the swim up bar. They actually closed the bar a few times because of them. The workers told me they were averaging 3-4 bites daily. I felt bad for them, but the resort can’t really do much more than they did on that. This property doesn’t have a Cafe Paris, and really could use some sweet options during the day. My main complaint was the pool temperature. I knew going in, that some pools might be cool. However, the moment we arrived, without being prompted, they made a point to tell us that ALL of the pools are heated. Well, it must be by the sun. You cannot tell guests this when it’s not true. I talked with one of the pool workers one day and he had his thermometer with him. The temp was 71. The pool on the island was that same temperature. One pool was heated to about 78-80. It was fine. Nobody got in the other pools. I’m fine if some of the pools aren’t heated. No problem as long as you don’t tell me the exact opposite. Like I said before, none of the above ruined our vacation. It’s all about attitude. And overall this property is really nice!

We were traveling with our daughters and their husbands which made for a party of six. Out of the 7 nights we were there we only had one reservation for dinning that wasn’t screwed up. We spoke with every one to help us with this matter and no one could get it right. Very frustrating as we all came there to spend quality family time together. The rooms and areas around the resort are in bad need of repair, things are broken, moldy and nobody really seems to care. We even had a sit down with the general Manager of the hotel and he was very nice and listened and proceeded to tell us he was brought there to fix all the problems and it was taking longer than expected. They however had no problem taking everyone’s money for a luxury resort but what we got was a three star with no customer service.

While the resort is lovely, and the private island is fantastic, the service/management wasn't great. My wife and I booked a last minute trip for our 10 year anniversary (which happens to be Feb 13). When we arrived, we tried to book some of the "reservations required" restaurants, but they were already booked up. Since our stay was only 3 nights, it felt like we were put at the bottom of their priority list. They didn't go out of their way at all to accommodate us. It was just "sorry, everything's booked". And when they said that they would investigate and call us late, they never did. I always had to call back. Also, since we bought a package, they knew what time we would be leaving (6pm) and yet made no effort whatsoever to accomodate a late check out. They just asked us to leave at 11am. When I asked, they said "as a courtesy" they would let us stay until noon (why didn't they just do that from the beginning?), and anything later would cost $50. We were fine with the $50, but again, they said they were booked and would call back to let us know. Guess what...they never did. I had to call myself just to find out that they couldn't do anything for us. Like...nothing. I can think of any number of things they could have done (e.g. provided a shower to use so that we could spend the afternoon on the beach, suggested a dryer so we woudn't have to pack wet clothes, directed us to a change room that wasn't a toilet etc.) but they did nothing. Anyway, we had a great time, and I'm nitpicking here, but given the price we paid, I did expect it to feel luxurious but it definitely did not. My advice: if you're not planning on booking the more expensive rooms, and staying more than 3 days, don't expect to dine in any of the nicer restaurants, and don't expect "luxury included".

    Incredible vacation.

My husband and I just arrived back home to the states and we wanted to send some compliments to the people who made our stay so incredible. First; Ocianie our housekeeper who was friendly and kind and thorough and helpful and spot on taking care of us. Thank you so much for all you did for us. Second Rejean & Kristin concierge‘s; Who helped us make a change in our stay and ensured that it went so smoothly. They were amazing. Third; Erica the bartender at the piano bar. What a blast she was. She was fun, friendly and knows how to make a cocktail. Forth; Darrington our photographer. He truly is the best photographer there in our opinion his pictures were amazing he was fun and friendly and we had a great time putting together some memories of pictures that will always cherish thank you Darrington love ya. Fifth; Uno, Concierge‘s. He was so helpful, friendly and fun everyday we saw him, it was like we were family. Your Uno in our heart. Randy & Cindy Hersey.

This was our first Sandals experience and I came back with mixed feelings about it. The Resort itself is a bit dated but very neat and clean and easy to navigate around. The beach is separated by a pier and one side is pristine and the other side was full of seaweed, not sure if its the norm for this spot or not. If your into long walks along the water's edge, this isn't the place for you. Sandals island is a short boat ride away and is absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend spending some time there. The food at the resort is limited but delicious, no bad meals in any of the restaurants. If your into big buffets with a wide assortment, you will be disappointed. But once again, the food there is delicious. There are 2 sides to the resort, one side is very quiet with a sun warming type of pool and the other side has a heated pool and hosts all the activity. So it was nice to have a choice of enjoying entertainment or just relaxing and soaking up the rays. I have only 2 negatives to the resort, one the servers in the restaurant aren't very accommodating and felt I was just an annoyance to them. My wife and I are not demanding people in the least but asking for a top up for our wine glasses seemed more like a chore to them than anything and secondly, house keeping is hit and miss. We had to call one day for someone to come and clean the room as it was missed that day for whatever reason. Also, they would only replenish some glasses and cups and not all of them. Initially we had 2 wine glasses, 2 whiskey glasses, 2 champagne flutes and 2 coffee mugs. after the second day, we were left with one of each and no coffee mugs. We would call for coffee cups so we could enjoy a morning coffee on the balcony and to no avail. One day we called 4 times and they still didn't show up to our room with any. We spent 2 days, with my wife drinking her coffee out of a wine glass and myself out of a whiskey glass. The next day we ordered room service for breakfast and they brought coffee and no coffee cups. all we could do was laugh. my wife had enough at this point and went to the buffet and grabbed two mugs. Other than that, everything was fine.
