This hotel is in the perfect NYC location. I was able to walk to Plaza Hotel, Rockefeller Center and Times Square. Hotel rooms were decent sized but be aware this hotel does not have the typical amenities you would expect from a Renaissance. If you are ok with that then this is a great hotel.

    A wonderful surprise!

After living in NYC for many years, I adjust my expectations for NYC hotels and usually understand that there are compromises in space and that the buildings are generally older. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of the room. Service is top-notch and the location is close to everything. I plan to continue to stay here when traveling to NYC for business or visiting friends. Thank you to the Renaissance team for a great stay!

We stayed at Renaissance 57 for our mini honeymoon! Let’s start from day 1: Daniel the bell boy was amazing! He gave us great directions on how to use the subway and he gave us a lot of recommendations on non tourist places to check out. Raymond checked us and made sure we had a great room! The room had an amazing soaking tub and a great view of Lexington Ave. Day 2: Jose and another bell hop guy I can’t remember his name but he was SO amazing. They kindly held the door for me with a huge smile every time! They were great guys all around. Day 3: Stumbled in a bit intoxicated and the front desk guy was great!!! Very welcoming and was nice! Day 4: Check our! We hated to leave this hotel because the staff was absolutely amazing. From the moment we checked in till the moment we checked out the entire process was stress free! I would like to give special attention to Raymond. Raymond went above and beyond. Raymond was simply amazing. He had a hand written front and back list of restaurants for us to check out. He made a difference in our trip. He made sure we were happy with our room and everything you could imagine. It’s employees like Raymond that make or break a business and I can’t get over how awesome he was!!! He was so friendly at all hours of the day and he was very helpful. When we return to NYC next year we plan on only staying at Renaissance 57. Don’t forget about the absolutely amazing rooftop terrace they have. The rooftop offers gorgeous views of Lexington Ave! Not enough guests take advantage of this terrace. You are able to bring up drinks and snacks and have a nice romantic evening up there. The entire staff was great. I am forgetting a few of the women’s names but everyone was wonderful! Courtney

    Lackluster Hotel in Top Location

Staff was friendly and helpful, but the hotel was otherwise lackluster. Despite being in an historic building, the hotel was over-modernized and stripped of all its character. My dreary room, while large, lacked furniture and instead had a series of floor-to-ceiling wood cabinets that resembled the AA Admirals Club lounge at LGA. There was only one nightstand, but lots of less-than-useful cabinetry. Lighting in the bedroom area is via small low-voltage spotlights and very dim. And you need two keys here, a white one (NFC) for the room and a black one (magnetic stripe) for the elevator. The black key demagnetizes itself just from looking at it. In four days, I had to have it reprogrammed three times, just to ride the elevator! Definitely not one of Marriott’s better properties, but the location at 57th and Lexington is its main selling point. Will I stay here again? Only if the price is right.

Very nicely designed and decorated room

I spent one night here during a quick trip to NYC. Two blocks from the subway stop at 59th and Lexington where I hopped off the E train from JFK. The lobby experience is sort of non-existent; check-in and a few seats. But the check-in was memorable because the young lady who helped me remembered my name the following day when I checked out; very unusual in New York. My corner room on the 8th floor was lovely. Very nice design and very nice decor. Large bathroom with window, small sofa, comfortable bed, three windows wrapping around the corner. I could not have been more comfortable. There is no food-service or beverage service in the hotel and that is odd. But guests are invited to bring their own to the hotel's 17th floor deck. I would return for the nice room experience.
