    We stayed at the Bahia in Mexico. It was 5 star. So much so we came back except this time to Grand Bay. We were supposed to be on the Adults only. It has not opened yet. We brught our best friends. I understand covid has changed things a lot. While I will say we met some lovely employees, many were rude. There are a lot of locals. That is not the problem. The locals are given preferential treatment. There is a happy medium. We were approached by a thug twice. My beach bag was gone through. The food was mediocre. It was 5 star in Mexico The wine was not drinkable. It literally tasted rancid. We had to go to the gift shop and spend $20,00 a bottle to add to our expense. I manage a vacation rental and am extremely disappointed. We were kicked out of an area of the pool that we sat in for the last 5 days and locals were allowed to sit there. We said something to the security guard and she mumbled something in there local language.i asked if she had something to say to say it to us in English. This was to be our forever chain of choice. Will probably never return here. May give Mexico another try but doubtful. My friends will never return. Disappointed beyond words. I am fair in my reviews. Pushed to our limits. My brother ,his wife and my husband and I were going to return in November. Such a shame.

    I want to say first that the staff were great at this resort. Really helpful and friendly. They are let down by a resort that is showing it’s age. Lots of things broken or in poor state of repair. Elevators stink of mold and are filthy. Rooms are basic to say the least. No coffee machine, broken lights, broken mini safe, old and tired furniture. This resort needs a major renovation to bring it back to the glory that I’m sure it once enjoyed. Until then, there are many other much nicer and newer resorts nearby in Jamaica.

    I want to really place emphasis on the fact that I may not have had the best time at Bahia Runaway Bay, but I have the privilege of experiencing the best customer service I have ever had at a hotel from the minute I got there I was greeted by Shadaye Cameron and Castelle Rolle from the privilege club who made me still have faith in the fact that customer service still exists in Jamaica. I really want to say thank you you to all the persons who ensure that every time I saw them despite how my day was going I received a warm friendly greeting from them, thank you so much guys really appreciate you, I just want you to know that I will tell my friends to visit just to see and experience the high level of customer service.

    We had a blast. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. In particular Owen at the gym with the morning stretching and yoga. And of course Jilly at the scuba hut who amused us with her wit and humor. We also appreciated the discipline and commitment of the staff when it comes to hygiene and COVID preventing measures. It definitely felt very safe and we were always being sanitized. Only 3 of the many restaurants in the resort are currently running so it would be nice to see the place when everything is up and running after COVID.

    It was an enjoyable stay. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. Although the hotel was not operating at its optimal level due to the pandemic, the staff tried their best to make us feel welcomed. Big shout out to Clifford Rose, he ensured our group is fully taken care of.
