We had heard positive reviews of Sandals and looked forward to our first visit. To add some balance to the review we were told by guests who had stayed at other Sandals properties that the Ochi Beach Resort was the oldest and weakest of all Sandals resorts. There were lots of positives, the food was in general excellent and all inclusive is probably the best I have experienced. The majority of the staff a friendly and professional. The facilities in the hotel are of a high standard. But, there were negatives. The rooms in the Riviera Tower are old and in need of renovation. The hotel is huge and space is at a premium, especially on the beach and around the pools. Some of the service we received was at best inept and on occasion rude. This is a theme in many other reviews, but to be fair not the norm, but once is too many. It’s not an exaggeration to say that they tried to sell me something everyday. Whether it be wine, golf, photos or even calling my room to ask me if I wanted to book my next trip. I get the business model, but it wears at bit thin after a while. Overall it was a good experience, but it just shows me the power of marketing that Sandals do very well. I wouldn’t recommend or return to this resort, as to other Sandals I don’t know, but I certainly don’t hold Sandals in the high esteem that I did before I stayed there.

After always wanting to go to a Sandals resort as they are described as 5 star luxury my partner and I booked to go to Sandals Ochi as a treat to ourselves. BIG MISTAKE. I would give this hotel 3 stars at best . Now I know there are some nice reviews but trust me they did not experience what we did . ? Upon arriving around 8pm we were first put through the very long winded check in process . We were tired and wanted to get to our room to freshen up however when we were eventually shown to our room after around 40 mins our cases took another 30 minutes to arrive . Upon opening the door to our room (7223)my heart sank . It smelled really damp and fausty , the furniture was very dated and the doors to the cupboard were hanging off. There was a hole in the bathroom ceiling which was leaking ,the towel rail was hanging off . the floor was stinking and worst of all the mattress was absolutely disgusting. It had blood stains and wet stains all over it. The shared pool was full of scum (see pictures attached ) We had to endure this for the first night until after insisting we be moved we were mid afternoon the next day to a better room but still very dated . See the pics of the chairs on the virander . This was not to be expected of a so called 5 star luxury hotel . First impressions last as they say and this certainly left a lasting impression with us . I will say the most of the staff are amazing and the rest of the hotel and set up was nice but It was spoiled from day one .

    Never going back!!

Check in process is ridiculous! Room was clean but couldn’t shower in the afternoon because water was scalding! Air conditioner leaked, couldn’t make a reservation for 6 people for dinner! Concierge was rude and unhelpful. Food was mediocre! Over priced!! Will never stay at another sandals.

Wow,this was our first Sandals holiday and we had said that it was going to be a once in a life time holiday due to the cost, however,we have been totally spoilt now so how on earth can we holiday anywhere else!! This is going to be a long review as will try and fit all details in that you need to know.. Transfer from Kingston..They will say 30-40 mins but it is 2hrs,if you are lucky and not much traffic you will make it in just under 2 hrs. Check in..We had checked in on line,so it was straight forward when we arrived. Rooms..We were in Butler Village.Rooms if I/we are honest need a bit of a refurb and reminded us of Riu Hotel rooms, however you have everything you need.Rooms are cleaned and linen/towels changed everyday and every evening.Fridge restocked, ice bucket filled, coffee machine and proper kettle too which is great, you could not ask for more.Light snacks left in your fridge each day. Amazingly comfortable bed with stunning pillows.Thank-you to all house keepers and drinks man for looking after us and our room so well. Butlers...WOW..How awesome were our lovely butlers Nadia and Sashemia. They were there always 2 steps ahead of us everyday fulfilling our every need.Friendly, smiley immaculately dressed and nothing was too much trouble for them. They are both impeccably trained and are a very polished diuble act,a total asset to Sandals.Thankyou to both of you for making our holiday so special. Pool/Beach..Main pool is fab with a lovely swim up bar, service good.Well done to Kemroy and also Brandon who had his first pool bar shift when we were there,he initially looked like a rabbit in the headlights but within a couple of days was doing brilliantly and I am sure will go far.All staff were happy and friendly.Pool side entertainment each day. Beach..Great beach with pool and entertainment but only thing is you have to get the hop bus as the beach is quite a distance from main hotel and across the main road. Good watersports. Restaurants..Amazing restaurants throughout with high end food and service. Only restaurant that was a let down was 'Kimono'. Our chef introduced himself then disappeared leaving us all sitting there for ages wondering what was going on,another finally arrived and clearly did not want to be there. He did not interact with anyone, not a smile throughout and there was no show cooking the food bland and boring we did not get to eat until well after 2100 although we had been there since 2000.A drinks order was taken at the start but drinks did not arrive so we had to get our own.One couple walked out.If you have done these show cooking restaurants before I wouldnt bother doing it again here. Bars..Throughout are generally really good, our favourite was the 'Sundowner'It is chic, classy and has amazing views, the service was impeccable.André and Andrew certainly run the show here and make this the best bar in the hotel.Live music playing in the evening too which is not overpowering just classy and elegant. Polo bar was for us the worst as you get people throughout the day and evening walking through in swimwear and men without shirts.t-shirts.Also one early evening a very drunk couple were swaying around and playing their own loud music at the bar and none of the staff did anything about this.Staff here were not up to scratch particularly one barman in the evenings that was very rude and ignored people waiting and a female during the day who needs to give her attitude a talking to or get a job somewhere else in the hotel! Percival is the man..He just appears out of nowhere and is friendly warm and welcoming making sure everything is going well for you another true asset to the hotel. Entertainment..The animation team are truly the best we have ever experienced their evening shows are incredible. They work hard throughout the day and then put on a top show in the evening and still manage to be so vibrant and smiley. They have the most talented dancers and singers ever.Well done to all you sure are going to be a hard act to follow in other hotels. The'Rabbit Hole'..Get your password each day and in you go.We were expecting it to be more like a 20s and 30' theme club but it wasn't.It is great fun and is worth a few visits on your holiday but I think we all felt it needed to have more variety of music and singers. It also gets incredibly busy and there aren't many places to sit.Big Mama is good but again felt that at times the style of songs were not right for her and ahe was very scripted ,due to noise from the bar you don't get to here what she is saying in between.Saying all this though we had a couple of good nights there. Bar and waiting staff brilliant. Amazing butterflies everywhere, geckos, mongoose etc can be seen throughout the grounds. Spa..As usual too expensive. Shop..On both sides sell some really nice things, souvenirs, bags a few meds and not overpriced. Photography..Same old but normally see a couple that I want, didn't get that this time and pricey too. Dress Code..Long trousers only required in French and Italian restaurant. Tipping..How refreshing..Read other reviews and do what is right for you. Grounds throughout the hotel are stunningly maintained, however this does make for quite a bit of noise throughout the day. Felt really safe throughout the hotel and walking around the grounds no matter what time of day or evening.Staff on every level are amazing. Tiips..Book it! If you can opt for a butler,we ceratinly only asked for our butlers help a couple of times but they surely will look after you every step of the way on your holiday. Best restaurant for us,wow how hard to choose, but loved the French and Italian,Neptunes etc well all really except the one mentioned. If going on excursions book your own online for better deals.Mystic Mountain is great fun. When you read reviews don't worry about the hotel being split in two because of a main road, you just jump on the 'Hop' which is every 10mins and turns into a party bus in the evening.Great fun. Think I have gone through everything now. Only problem we have now is finding which Sandals to visit next year!
