    This place needs maintenance

    This place is terrible outdated, it urgently needs maintenance. Just look at my pictures... the alleyway completely dark at 3 pm, not even the door well painted... The plants on the balcony are dead and the handrails are broken-rusted. ... the faucet on the toilet continuously leaking. Cheap linen and very poor room amenities. On the other hand, the views from the terrace bar are amazing and the beach is great... they service is ok, nevertheless the drinks are pricey... but you have a spot available if you are staying on the hotel

    We have had enjoyable drinks at the seas side patio. They push the drinks but food service is almost non existent. Twice we have had to pay our drinks and walk out before our light food was service. An order of French fries should not take 40 minutes. We have been going the patio regularly for 6 weeks for drinks and snacks. Food service has been very slow. June 21 we went to the roof top patios for drinks and food. DRINKS were slow because the bar tender was playing with a scantily clad female who seemed to be a frequent freebie. The food service was almost 50 minutes and then the salads appeared but no French fries. We had booked a taxi so left refusing the food and went down for our taxi. The yellow taxi was not there and even when the hotel desk phone we waited 20+ minutes and no taxi apparent for our 9:30 reservation. Even the TAXIS do not wish to service this hotel. The is the second time they have refused to dispatch a taxi to Blue Chairs. The staff confirmed a taxi should be there in 5 minutes. after 20 non appeared. My physically handicapped friend and I at age 80 walking with a cane had to walk uphill home on dimly lit streets for 45 minutes. Do not go to this place if you need to eat or need a taxi home. One time an embarrassed service person drove us home. I will be reporting this dangerous situation in old town Puerto Vallarta to the Canadian Consulate who I hope will issue a travel advisory against evening time visits to the BLUE or, GREEN CHAIRS OR BEACH AREA TAXI SERVICE SEEMS TO AVOID THIS AREAS!

    I stayed at the blue chairs resort March 8 - 16. I was a bit nervous to stay there because of the bad reviews. It was fine... if you are expecting 5 star don’t stay here. The hotel is old, but my room was clean with plenty of towels delivered daily. I was in the front tower with a partial ocean view. The hotel is tired and needs some work,but what do you expect for $70.00 Canadian a night. The staff was nice. The concierge was so friendly and nice. There is loud music on the roof top everyday with performances and happy hour, but it’s over before 11:00pm. I often watched the shows and had a drink up there. I have been to Puerto Vallarta before and stayed in a hotel away from the beach. I was very happy to stay at blue chairs for location and price. The hot water was slow to come, but I always had hot water. Wifi worked best in the lobby. Again don’t expect 5 star, but good location and good price with friendly staff.

    We were worried after reading the reviewers and I guess pleasantly surprised that some of them did not come true. Staff are were friendly, Internet is fast and available in the room, we had towels and sheets and the room was ready when we arrived (at 6pm). But the place needs maintenance. Although the front desk said that the hotel was booked, we saw several unoccupied rooms. We assumed that these rooms are not habitable due to maintenance issues. Our sink was not connected and flooded the bathroom but the plumber on staff came and fixed it right away. The toilet roll holder had fallen off and the towel rack will be next. The floor was never wet mopped. Some areas have become dumpsters such as one of the top roof terraces. The lounge chairs by the main pool are worn and the hot tub has long been out of commission. The resort lives on its reputation but with major maintenance it will soon be history

    Dirty, noisy, old, overpriced, awful

    We were attending an event and stayed at the Blue Chairs Resort for 10 full days. We will never set foot in this hotel ever again. Our room was a nightmare, with dirt and plaster dust on the floor, and did not improve after the nearly non-existent maid service (they either ignored us entirely, or they would show up late in the evening after 6pm, they never even gave us a bath mat or wash rags or hand towels, only changed out bath towels, we had to go to the front desk to get those items ourselves -- no phone in the room, you cannot call the front desk). There were only 3 lights inside the room: 1 over the head of the bed, one over the sink and the fluorescent in the bathroom. The rest of the room is in dark shadows, including the closet, which is so dark that you must bring your own flashlight to see what clothes you are selecting. There were no chairs in the room, the chairs on the balcony are uncomfortable lodge-pole and wicker style, so there is no place comfortable to sit, trying to watch TV from bed and sit up when you only have 3 pillows isn't comfortable either. The front desk insisted the plumbing could handle toilet paper instead of having to throw it in the wastebasket, but every time the toilet was used it turned into a Las Vegas slot machine experience: You had to keep pulling the handle until you "won" and everything finally went down the drain. The shower doors were so dirty that no amount of Calcium/Lime/Rust remover could ever hope to make them transparent again. Shower water pressure is next to nothing, and temperature fluctuates wildly, from icy cold to scalding hot in a matter of seconds, even when you don't change the settings. At one point we lost our water pressure entirely for a few hours. The noise levels were very high daily in the hotel courtyard as they were constructing things and blocking the stairwells with their work, leaving exposed splintery wood and water on the marble floors for people to slip on. If you wanted to have a relaxing nap in your room, there would either be a bunch of hammering and sawing and nail-driving in the courtyard, or outside in the alley way. When the shows are going on in the lounge or there is an event going on at the rooftop bar, expect late night noise as well, you will not be protected from it by the old architecture. The hotel's restaurant is extremely slow and often gets orders wrong due to the language barrier (wait staff misunderstands customers and does not take the time to confirm) and the food was barely mediocre. After 6pm the area turns into a virtual food desert, the hotel restaurant does not offer dinner, and the only thing available is either convenience stores with junk food, or you have to take a cab ride to another part of town to eat, and there's nothing at all available in the late night. This hotel is clearly run down and the management is not interested in upgrading or modernizing or even providing basic comforts to guests, such as a chair or an in-room telephone to call the front desk. We paid over $100 per night to stay in this place, and that was utter robbery. If we had known ahead of time just how bad the accommodations were going to be we would have absolutely booked something else somewhere else. Yes it is close to the beach, but that is meaningless when you can stay someplace much nicer and take a cab ride to the beach, and then return to a room where you don't get dirty feet walking across the floor in the darkness. Never again, we have learned our lesson.
