Pros: -Beautiful beach with soft sand -2 large pools -Many outdoor seating options with shade -Balconies on each room -Plenty of activities -Great MCs of the activities -Family friendly -Great bars -Safety -Clean -Plenty of food options Cons: -Language barrier. You need to know basic spanish to get by -Hit/miss food. Not a 5 star hotel

Mihaita M on Apr 13, 2024

I just checked out of Iberostar Dominicana, I stayed there for 2 weeks and here’s a realistic review. The rooms smell like mold and they are out-dated and for sure they are not even 3 star rooms. The hotel swimming pool, outside area and beach is well-maintained and very nice. The drinks and food are very basic and the buffet is a nightmare every night at dinner, as there is no space at the table and you wait ages for someone to serve you and clean your table. A strong advice I would give would be to not go to the ‘hotel presentation ’ because you waste minim of 3 hours of your holiday for a scam. The staff in general is friendly and hard-working

Good. Not great.

lora z on Apr 09, 2024

Been here 3 days now so can provide some detail. The Dominica side of the resort is definitely in need of updating. It smells musty. The punta Cana side seems prettier and perhaps more up to date. The common spaces are the restaurants and the pool. The pool is pretty and has a bar. The beach is lovely of course but dirty. They don’t seem to do a good job of picking up trash (and people keep leaving garbage which is infuriating). The big buffet that is attached to the lobby is good. Plentiful and choices even for vegetarians. The restaurants are ok. Nothing great. The Asian place is better than the others. People are very friendly but don’t really expect results. Often there is nobody at guest services and we’ve been moved around from one person to another more than once. Things to bring with you: Coffee mug Water bottle Singles for tips Candle for your room if you don’t mind any a musty smell The spa is a little pricey but the services are very good and plan to use the various pools and amenities for a few hours if you prefer the quiet. The response on my previous review said that management would be in touch with me which to date has not happened and I would be very surprised if it did.

Mediocre experience

loraz435 (Northbrook) on Apr 07, 2024

Just finishing day one. Will update daily. The staff is friendly and helpful. Drinks are available everywhere and the bar staff is very friendly. Check in is interesting. Our flight was changed to 5am so of course we arrived midday. They immediately upsell your room to something closer to the beach or the pool. If you are an IHG member there is a bit of a discount of this is of interest to you. And you will not be able to get in your room before 3. So you can change in a room they have designated for that if you like but plan on waiting until 3. Everything is “on the app”. Except it’s not. You will not find times, spa information, room information or much else. And if you don’t yet know your room number (which they will not give you until 3pm) then you also can’t login to the app, or make any dinner reservations. It’s really challenging to get information. The people who work the information desk are nice enough, but they actually cannot help with many requests. We were referred to another desk, then another desk and ultimately spoke to people who only speak Spanish, which thankfully one of us could do but otherwise I’m not sure what people are supposed to do. You will also encounter many people trying to see, you excursions so be prepared for that. The rooms are ok but smell incredibly musty. Wishing I had a candle to burn to make it smell better. The food is mediocre. Dinner at the French restaurant was really disappointing. Everything is very over cooked and there is nothing French about it honestly. I would rather they call it something else and serve food they are better able to prepare. The buffet is fine. Salad and some meat choices. Coffee is available everywhere, better at the bars than the buffets for sure. Hoping day two is better than day one. Stay tuned.

Really a 3 star hotel

GabriellaMaftei on Apr 05, 2024

This is not a 5 stars hotel. Very disappointed as been visiting many Iberostar in Europe ( Cadiz, Lanzarote, etc) and the standard of this hotel is very low, I would not mark more than 3 stars as I am a nice person. The good: the beach is amazing and the water in the ocean really warm. The staff really friendly. the bad; the food very basic, the restaurant always crowded and waiting for ages for a waiter to serve you water or other drinks. The drinks the cheapest ones you will think off, nothing for a 5 star. The coffe in the room the worst, in the restaurant the same. The room smells of damp, outdated, really disappointing about it.they invite you for a tour of the hotel and actually they are trying to sell you a membership for like £50k and in the end if you say no they are really rude and you are wasting 3 hours from your own time, as advice if you come here just pass this tour and this is a scam. We were very looking forward for this holiday unfortunately I don’t see us coming back and I would not recommend it to anyone as you spend lots of money for a very poor service.
