We just returned from a week stay at Panama Jacks Playa del Carmen. Great experience. Sergio from Platinum Service was outstanding taking care of many needs. Jose from the pool became a new friend. Jose is a very upbeat man who makes each day better. Please get to know him, he is amazing and will take great care of your needs while at the resort.

First time staying at this resort chain. We are still here but I wanted to write a review before I forget. Upon check in we were told there was an environmental fee to pay that was not included in the Westjet vacation package. The cost was around $2.00 Canadian per night. Not a big deal but still a bit of a pain. We didn't get checked in at the normal reception desk but in the concierge room instead. The lady was nice but pushed the special spa package on us that we had to decide on. We just got there and didn't know if we wanted it so said no. Then another representative asked for time with us before we could go to our room. She wanted to explain the resort and that we could go to the sister resort, Hilton, across the street for breakfast and a tour of it but only by special booking. We turned that down as we just wanted to get to the room and settle in and change. We thought the Westjet vacation site said room options were two double beds or a king. Check in told us only double available for the room type we paid for. Fine. Ended up being better for us as the room is pretty small with not much storage. We are using the 2nd bed to put our suitcases on. Our room is on the 4th floor across from the Tranquil pool and sushi bar. Pretty nice. It's quiet and always has open chairs. Being a smaller resort it is easy to get around and find everything. Location is fantastic. Walk up the street and you are on 5th Avenue. Beach is small. Destroyed by previous hurricanes. If the wind blows a certain way it does smell like sewer. Another reason we like the 4th floor pool. Food is decent. We've only eaten at the buffet and the Mexican restaurant so far. Have heard the Italian and Brazilian restaurants are good so will try them next. Some of the dishes are not included and are extra cost. Same as some of the alcohol. Check in did give us a coupon book for a discount of wine, romantic dinner and spa treatments. Our first morning we received a call to make sure we went down for the orientation to get our return flight confirmed. Also got a call to get a free gift. Free gift is a pendant and 40% off other jewelry. We passed. So just a few things that we didn't really expect with the environmental fee and they seemed pushy with the booking spa and breakfast. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Resort is clean. All in all it's a nice resort. No need to book the al a cartes. Just get there right when they open or put your name in for a later time.

The 5 restaurants on site had amazing food & the staff were excellent!

Our room was at the front of the hotel on the second floor just above the children's play area. The housekeeping staff were thorough & even made a swan out of towelling which was very impressive. We all spent a lot of time on the property enjoying the pool, beverage areas, and the restaurants.. The entertainment was top drawer. I was impressed by the bands that played in the main lobby. There were 2 female singers fronting 2 of the bands & they were very powerful singers.

Although I’ve travelled many times to many all inclusives, I’ve never been compelled to write a review until now. We stayed at Panama jacks from Jan 13-20. I travelled with my parents and some family friends. We absolutely LOVED our stay. The staff here is exceptional especially Antonio in the buffet, Gregorio and our girl Erika who served around the pool. The resort is smaller than what I’m used to and found it to be perfect. No waiting in lines to eat, to get a drink. The food was delicious (especially the Italian restaurant) but even the buffet had lots of choices everyday. It has a nice size pool, which on one side was quieter while the other side is where they did most of the activities. The foam party was a lot of fun. Ok yes the beach is mostly gone, but you can walk a few mins down from the resort and there is a beautiful beach. The highlight for me was the location to 5th Ave, I’ve been to playa Del Carmen many times and being able to walk down the street to 5th ave, with bars, shops and restaurants was amazing. Never got bored. I read MANY reviews before we booked. Most the the reviews a read were very positive. The negative ones can’t be helped but after staying here, it’s my opinion these reviews are written by miserable ppl who won’t be happy with anything. Your on vacation ppl enjoy it. Beats being at home and grinding it out day in and day out. It was a great place to relax, unplug and recharge. We’ll be back Thank you to all the staff for a great vacation.
