Historic attractions
At the Martin Luther King Jr National Historic Site you’ll find, among other things, visitors’ centers, Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Freedom Hall, and MLK’s birth home. A must visit.
The Atlanta History Center’s 33-acre experience features award-winning exhibitions, historic houses – including the Mitchell House & Museum - where Margaret Mitchell wrote Gone with the Wind, enchanting gardens, interactive activities and a variety of year-round adult and family programs.
The Carter Presidential Library and Museum traces the life and work of President Jimmy Carter, from his childhood in Plains to the work he and Mrs. Carter do around the world to promote peace and health.
Fernbank Museum of Natural History offers exhibitions for children and adults that bridge history to the natural world.
Getting around
You can walk, rent a bike, take MARTA - Atlanta's rapid transit rail system - or downtown, the Atlanta Streetcar. Of course taxis, limos and shuttles can also get you where you want to go.
