Perfect Vacation Spot
timothyr433 (Columbus, Ohio) on Mar 23, 2024
We had a perfect vacation at the Tamarijn! We chose this resort due to the oceanfront views and were not disappointed. We had a 2nd floor room in the 2300 building and loved our view and the private beach. We spent each morning under the umbrellas on the beach and spent several afternoons at one of the pools. Everyone is given 32oz. water bottles and there are many water and ice stations around the resort, so we were able to keep cool and well hydrated in the sun. The beach in front of many of the building is pretty rocky. However, the buildings south of the Bunker Bar (I think the 1800 building and higher) had a nice sandy beach. Our 2300 building and those around it were nice and sandy, but I recommend bringing water shoes, as there still are a fair amount of rocks in the water. Our room and the resort as a whole was very clean and well maintained. We had one minor maintenance issue (our fault) and it was immediately addressed and fixed. We ate at a different restaurant every night, including Paparazzi, Ginger, Palm Grill, as well as the Red Parrot and Pure Lime at the Divi resort next door (all Tamarijn guests have access to everything at the Divi as well). We had excellent service and food at every spot, but our favorite dining experience was at the Palm Grill, where you cook your own food right at the table. Other culinary highlights were the macaroons at the Red Parrot, getting fresh squeezed orange juice and smoothies at the buffet, everything at Ginger, and cocktails at the bars. All the staff members were interacted with were very helpful and accommodating. I especially want to recognize Renata at the buffet, who was always warm and inviting. The shows each night were entertaining, including the pirate acrobatic show, the synchronized swimming show, and the folk dancing. Like many of the other reviewers here, I will recommend the e-bike and snorkel tour. Donnie and Bree were excellent guides and made sure that we all were safe and kneww what we were doing. Our trip started from the Tamarijn and followed a bike path to the famous fofoti trees on Eagle Beach, where we stopped for a photo. We then continued on regular roads north to the Boca Catalina Beach, where we snorkeled and saw many great fish and 6 sea turtles, including one who surfaced right in front of us! We then were given lunch and rode back to the Tamarijn. It was a 12 mile round trip that was very easy with the e-bikes. We took advantage of the spa services, which did not disappointment. There are a few shops on site and we used those to get a few convenience items. Beware that sunscreen in Aruba (not just at the resort) is very expensive, about $20/bottle. We went in to Oranjestad for an afternoon and the prices were the same there. Sunscreen is a must this close to the equator. My only complaint would be the app that is used to make dinner reservations. It typically shows no availability at most of the restaurants. However, if you talk to the concierge, you can get reservations anywhere. Since the restaurants only book up to 2 days in advance, this means that I had to make a daily visit to the concierge each morning. If the app worked better, that wouldn't be necessary. That small gripe aside, we found the Tamarijn to be a perfect vacation spot in paradise. We would happily stay there again.
Ebike and snorkel tour Tamarjin Aruba

We stayed at Divi next been door but you can use the amenities at both. Do yourself a favor and do the ebike snokel tour!!!! It was so fun and not strenuous. Zef and Donny were amazing tour guides. They made sure everyone had the appropriate bike and explained how to use them very well. They checked on everyone frequently and made sure we were safe on the roads. We also had more sea life encounters with them than we did on a separate paid excursion! We were able to see sea turtles and feed fish. After snorkeling they feed us luch before biking back with a quick stop at famous Eagle beach. They were very knowledgeable and since it’s limited to 12 people it’s a very personalized trip. They only do the tour on Tuesdays and Wednesdays though so book it early as it fills up. This was by far my favorite thing we did in Aruba and it was all thanks to Zef and Donny. They should definitely do it more days of the week.
Tamarijn Aruba

I chose this resort knowing what we were getting (friends told us about it). I knew about the rocky beach front. We stayed in building 25 (last building of the resort). I wanted a ground floor room and was very happy with it. I could walk out right to the beach unlike most of the other buildings. The room was cleaned every day. Positives -Staff is friendly and attentive. -Potable water. Water is drinkable on the island. (The resort provides reusable plastic bottles.) -It is close to shopping. -The beach is beautiful on the far ends of the resort. -The food is good (for an AI). Negatives - Not much entertainment during the day and evening. - There is no swim up bar (although the pool bar is only a few steps out of the pool). - No room service. -If you are in the farthest buildings, it is about a 5-minute walk to main building (or you can call for a ride (large golf carts).

Perfect vacation. Can't wait to go back. Staff was lovely, hotel was clean and well kept. Food was good at each restaurant. Views were perfect. Enjoyed the ocean, resort pools. Water was always available. Enjoyed trying the different alcohol offerings! Recommend tipping each time--it is much appreciated!
Honest Review!

Amazing resort and island! Did you know Aruba has a very large water treatment plant which means their water is drinkable straight from the tap!? What a blessing for the citizens of Aruba! Check in: a breeze. Once you get your bracelet grab a beer/drink at the bar (travel days are longggg). Then the very hospitable bell man will get you a ride to your new home for the duration of the trip. Rooms: clean, updated, beds are comfy!, lots of closet space, large tv with Netflix and Prime, and can’t beat the ocean views! Location: Divi Beach. The resort is built right on the beach which of course will result in needing some barrier from the Caribbean Sea. There are only SOME sections that have rocks. And honestly it’s not a big deal. They are beautiful and natural. The waves splashing against them sound so amazing. There are MANY large spots that have no rocks that you can easily get out to the sea for a swim. You don’t need to walk all the way to the large section of divi beach to swim. There are a ton of chairs and palapas to choose from on the long beach. Our room was on the bottom floor, building 23. A quiet area away from the main area. We loved the walks to breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Bunker Bar has such great history and is a great spot to grab a drink to break up the long 5 minute walk to the main area. Haha. Pools: too many to count. We used the one that was part of the Divi Dutch resort. Which Tamarijn is also allowed to use. They have comfy cabanas , chairs in the water and a waterfall. This pool seemed to be a hidden gem as it was always quiet and lots of places to sit. Restaurants: WOW! My career is in hospitality. Clearly I have high standards. The food was amazing. Our favourite was The Red Parrot and Paparazzi. My sirloin steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare at Paparazzi. YUM! Derek at the Red Parrot is someone special. A very hospitable server that has been there for many years. Their French onion soup is perfection! We enjoyed our evening walk to the Red Parrot at the Divi resort. They have pedestrian paths just for that reason or you can get a ride. Even the buffet food was delicious. You can simply book your dinner reservations through the app or go to concierge and they’ll be happy to book for you. If you find it hard to book then that’s your own fault (sorry, not sorry). Forgot something?: not to worry. They have a store in the lobby that has everything you can think of. We even bought a bottle of sparkling wine from the store to celebrate our kid free vacation! Tours: we hired a taxi driver to drive us around the island. What better way to see the island then have a local drive you. The gold mine ruins on the north side is something to see. Lighthouse for some great views is great. Eagle beach which is a short distance from the Tamarijin is gorgeous! Saint Nicolas… the art work on the buildings are breathtaking! They have ice machines and water stations all over the resort to stay hydrated. Don’t be afraid to drink from the tap either. Don’t let the negative reviews sway you. This resort is amazing and worth a visit.
