The Best 7-Day Birthday + Honeymoon Celebration

Aquia F on Apr 20, 2024

My husband and I invited our friends and family on our honeymoon at Atelier (we eloped) so we had the chance to celebrate both my birthday and our new marriage. We stayed 7 nights and I could’ve easily spent another 7. We booked an inspira swim out suite and Jesus was our butler. Now I’m sure the other butlers were great, but I wouldn’t have wanted to find out because Jesus was more than we could’ve asked for. He had our clothes ironed, made reservations (for our large party) and was available for obscure requests – like bringing a bag of uncooked rice to our room for my husband’s water damaged phone. We will 100% be back and will 100% request him (you should too). The service and staff were mostly amazing (a few hiccups) and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. One of our favorite meals was at Takeshi (the tuna sushi roll and the lamb dish were phenomenal) and we went back twice. Bogart was our waiter the second time and he was awesome. I’d ask for him again. We really enjoyed my birthday dinner at Los Abrazos as well, but our waiter (I hate that I forgot his name) kind of rushed us through our meal which I didn’t appreciate. No one wants to feel like an inconvenience. We had a similar experience at Casa di Luna, the Mediterranean restaurant, where Carlos was our waiter and he was terrible for lack of better words. He was rude, made us feel uncomfortable for ordering 3 entrees to share, and just wasn’t pleasant. He took my dessert before I was done without asking and mocked my cocktail request when he could’ve simply walked away and put it in lol. Other than those two instances, everything else was amazing. Carlos was the towel guy at the inspira rooftop pool and on the inspira beach and he was truly a gem. He would clean our sunglasses and mist us with cool water lol. It was great. He was great. If you have a chance to interact with him you’re in for a treat. Our favorite meal was probably at Maria Dolores – it was incredible. Our server Romain (I really hope that’s his name) was the best we had. He encouraged us to order from the menu vs doing the tasting menu and he was not wrong. Everything he suggested was great. I had the best seared tuna I’ve probably ever had and they also made the best carajillo, hands down. The second best was at La Catina and it seemed like a lot of people slept on this spot. It was always empty but the drinks were great and the snacks they give you (Chicharrón, pumpkin seeds, chickpeas, etc) were surprisingly great. I wanted more from El Suspiro. It was just okay but the octopus on the dinner menu was so charred I couldn’t eat it. The bike tour was so fun! They do it daily I believe at 10am and you request in advance. Louis, our guide was one of my favorite people. He made the tour so fun! He was assisted by “Paco Taco” lol and I forgot his real name but they were both great. Louis saw us walking by the pool the next day while he was leading water aerobics and it was like seeing an old friend. Loved him! The spa is worth your while. I went twice. The front desk staff aren’t warm nor welcoming and I noticed that both times. The rest of the spa staff however was great. I got a reflexology massage the second time and I was kinda disappointed in the massage itself (I wanted more pressure and less just rubbing my feet and requested that but nothing changed), but it was SO relaxing I was literally in and out of sleep so it was hard to be upset lol. Don’t sleep on Bikini Azul for dinner. The tacos for dinner at Mercado 19 are chefs kiss. People rave about the drinks but every time I let someone “freestyle” I didn’t like the drink. I also found most drinks to have a strange sugar-free aftertaste and so did my friends. I obviously still drank them, but that set the cocktails back from being great. Two rounds of golf were included with our stay and I’m glad I tagged along with my husband because the course is beautiful and the cart man makes a bomb margarita. The scent is incredible. You’ll understand the moment you step into the lobby. I bought the room spray from the Bu’Tik and I thought I’d be able to order more online but they’re sold out… so I’m so glad I got what I did! It truly transports me back! The mishaps did not trump the experience as a whole and we can’t wait to go back. It will be hard to find something comparable.

Our home away from home!

christianfinley23 on Apr 20, 2024

This is our 4th trip back to Atelier. It is our home away from home and have nothing but great things to say. On this particular visit we spent a lot of time at the main pool where Julio made us feel like VIPs - he was with the first few days of our stay. It didn’t take long for him to know exactly what we liked and we had an immediate connection. Drinks, food and service were incredible. Domingo, our butler, made each minute of our stay as seamless as possible - reservations, requests, etc. - but also the little things like changing reservations and asking the out of the blue questions. He really elevated the trip and saved a lot of hassle and headaches. A few other shoutouts - Armando at Cilento went above and beyond for our dinner there. Carlos Rojas was our pool concierge for both our first and last day of our trip - he did such a great job of “adding the cherry on top.” He was always there for the extras you’d never think to plan for on vacation - extra sunscreen, treats at the pool and refreshments. Helmer at the Inspira pool - we only saw him for the last day but he was great. We told him that it was our last day and he made sure to make it extra special. We are coming back in November for our 5th visit - if that is not convincing enough I don’t know what is. Love this place!

Freddy is the BEST! At Atelier Shapiro Bar! He quickly became a friend and served us as though we were his best friends. We came back every night during our five night stay to see Freddy! We loved Freddy and all the drinks he made us. Would highly recommend
