Everything Disney

Designerontheroad on Apr 18, 2024

Comfortable and charming rooms with many hidden Mickeys. This hotel has been upgraded in recent years and it's in much nicer condition than in the past. The location is the big plus - walk to the monorail and poof you are transported to Tomorrowland in the heart of Disneyland. Food was a bit is challenging because it was so crowded in hte restaurants all over Disneyland during Easter week.

Never Never (Again) Land

Does anyone actually stay in this hotel twice? Or is it just for suckers like me who think, “well, the cost is probably worth it for my kid’s first trip to Disneyland.” Let me save you some burst expectations: It’s not. But what about “early entry” to the parks, you say? If you plan to buy Genie+, early entry basically gives you nothing. The best attraction in the park (Star Wars Rise of the Resistance) doesn’t even open until 8. I think this is a scam to make you pay the extra $26 per person in addition to Genie+, even if you’re a hotel guest. Oh, and they alternate “early entry” between Disneyland and California Adventure. Not knowing any of this, we woke up at 6 AM, got in line for the security check at 6:50, waited 20 minutes in line for security, then waited in line to scan our tickets, then rushed to the early entry zone, where we then waited for our rope to drop just a measly 15 minutes before the rope for the public did. And then we ran to the gate for the Star Wars section to find that it was locked until 8. So we rushed back to Peter Pan, but not before everyone else had gotten there, so we waited in line for 20 minutes there, for a ride we never intended to take. So Pro Tip: If you actually stay here, enjoy your vacation, sleep in the extra 30 minutes, leave the hotel at 7:30, and plan to pay $26 per person on Rise of the Resistance (the cost makes me want to puke, but it really is the best ride, by far). But what about “going back to your hotel to take a break in the middle of the day?” Well, that was kind of nice, but the Disneyland Hotel is actually farther than a lot of other options. You can do that at any number of cheaper hotels around the area. Another learning - unlike my experience at this hotel in the early ‘90s, the monorail no longer goes through the hotel. So not nearly as convenient as I had imagined. Also, there is a gauntlet of stores in “Downtown Disney” to drag your kids past each time you go back and forth. A few other things - Room Service takes 90 minutes in the mornings. The walls are VERY thin. And on our last day there was no hot water. Guest Services claimed all rooms share the same hot water source, and there were no other reports, but we tried for 2.5 hours and I’m pretty sure we know how to turn on a hot water tap on the sink because it was our fourth day. Even the little things could have been better. I thought, “Certainly we can show our kid a Disney movie while we’re packing.” Nope. The “on demand” section of the TV has “Frozen,” “Cars,” and… well, that’s basically it. You don't even get access to the Disney+ options we had on our iPad. So much for my reverence for the Disney brand. I knew it was all about the money, but I thought they also still had a commitment to that incredible fan experience. Not so much anymore.

This is a review of the VILLAS room within Disneyland Hotel premises, NOT the hotel room.

This place is legit. It’s like a home away from home in that you can save $ by bringing food/snacks for your kids. There’s a fridge, silverware, dish-ware, microwave, and toaster. It’s made to feel different than the other hotel rooms on site. Game changer for me as a coparent with 2 young kiddos! The pool is nice and was never crowded when we went downstairs - then again the weather wasn’t the greatest during our spring break so ??????? My kids loved the Villas more than the Grand Californian, Disney Hotel, and Pixar Place. We stayed in room 1031 - this is the deluxe studio preferred view room.

Most Magical place

229franchescag on Apr 03, 2024

Our family absolutely loved staying with the Disneyland hotel. Being submerged into such a magical space was something we will never forget. This was our first time ever staying here and we will continue to choose this hotel for future Disney vacations because it’s so nostalgic and we felt truly taken care of while visiting. The property: We were in awe of the amount of detail put into every space in this hotel. The architecture is so whimsical and elegant, the grounds are always kept clean, the furniture and all the decor has Disney touches. Theresa landscaping is playful and creative, and the smell inside the hotels here night childhood memories somehow and I want to know what they use that smell so divine! You can’t beat the location and the ease of accessing both parks. Everything is easily accessible and it made navigating so seamless. The Staff: All staff members from valet, bellhop, front desk, cast members, servers, gift shop employees characters, and security were all very kind, and very helpful. I witnessed some cast members get yelled at by not so kind costumers and the CM stayed professional and courteous. We saw the most of this at the front desk and at Goofys kitchen with people being insanely rude to the staff, yet the staff managed each encounter impeccably. Thats truly amazing, and we are very grateful for their dedication to service. The only place I felt like was a bit of a disappointment was room service. I wanted to order a slice after cheesecake at 9pm and was told that is would be a 2hr wait. The cast member told me to go down to the restaurant and just order it there and it would be faster. My husband went down and the restaurant told him that they had the cheesecake but was unable to sale it directly to him and that we needed to contact room service for the item. This was the only hiccup that felt like it could have been handled a bit differently. This space truly feels like the most magical place on earth and that’s largely due to the phenomenal work of all the staff members. Thank you. Our room: We stayed in the Adventure tower with the downtown Disney view. It was absolutely amazing. The light up headboard, the Mickey hands for lamps, the comfortable beds and pillows all made for a very pleasant stay. The complementary toiletries are great! You get so much stuff that’s vital for your stay. Our room was a great size as well. Plenty of space for our toddler to run around freely. We did encounter a situation regarding the room that had to be brought to management attention. Jake (or Jack) Ryan was super helpful with the situation and was transparent about the steps moving forward and resolved the issue then in there. I am grateful for his understanding and support to correct things. One thing to be mindful of staying in this room is that there is live music happening some nights and it goes on until about 10pm. This wasn’t an issue for us but for others with early bed times/night time routines this could be a bit of a nuisance. We also got to witness the firework show from our room. We were on the 7th story and the show was spectacular! The loud bangs woke up our toddler but she loved watching the fireworks also. Another very strange thing happened while in our room that happened to both my husband and I. On our last night at the hotel my husband was in the bathroom and I was almost asleep but I kept hearing shuffling of the items on the nightstand by the bed. I rolled over and saw nothing. I started to fall asleep again and I heard more of the same sound. I rolled over and I didn’t see anything out of place. I then noticed a super bright white light on the wall next to the TV. I assumed it must had been our iPads or cellphones as that’s were the only charging plugs in the room were. But on closer inspection there were no electronics over there. No flash light no nothing. Our drapes were closed so it was super dark in the room so I was very confused as to what this bright light was. I rolled over again to try to go to sleep and I opened my eye and there was what appeared to be a face over by the wall where I saw the light! At this point I was so exhausted I just said a prayer for the spirit to leave us alone and went to bed. The next morning my husband told me that during the day on our first night stay he was playing with our toddler and the drapes started rattling like there was a cat or something playing in them. He couldn’t make sense of it then it happened again and it made him feel a bit uneasy. This is both of our first time ever experiencing anything like this and it was wild. Even with the spirits around we will choose this hotel over any other hotel in the area. If you want the full Disney experience then there’s no greater place to stay then on of the Disneyland properties.

Fun hotel , pretty close to the parks.

Great spot with really good pools and hot tubs. We were a family of 7 and had a 3 bedroom suite which worked out perfectly. On booking we were told that we would be eligible for the concierge service which we opted for. It would have been great if we had been in the Adventure tower as we requested but we were in the Frontier tower and so had t4 elevator rides there and back. We were also told it was a great place to watch the fireworks but you could not even get in the door during the fireworks. It was generally overcrowded during the main times..early breakfast, happy hour and dessert with fireworks.
